My work ethic was shaped through sports and a part-time job installing rebar for Farquhar Steel Company starting in 9th grade and continuing through college. Laboring rebar for three pool companies in the sweltering Houston summers for up to six days a week gave me a work ethic like no other. I earned my diploma in 1996 from Needville High School, received a full scholarship to compete as a linebacker for Northwestern State (La.), secured two Southland Conference Championships, and obtained a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Tech. After returning to Texas in 2000, I took an entry-level estimator at Mustang Engineering in West Houston in the West Houston area. A chance arose at Fluor Daniel as a piping designer, which was my last role in the office. I was let go during a tough period of layoffs. Thousands were already let go in this industry, making it challenging to find reemployment quickly. I returned to laying rebar until I found the roofing field, and I founded Texan Roofing in 2005.
