If your house has a chimney, you should be very careful in choosing a roofer.
In 2016 hurricane Matthew caused a large pine tree to fall on my house. The tree punched a hole in the garage roof and destroyed some of the rafters and ceiling in the garage. XRC Construction and Roofing repaired the structural damage and replaced the roof. Fast forward to today and we have a leak at the chimney on the roof. XRC came out to check the leak and said that the chimney had no flashing. They also said that flashing was not included with the roof replacement in 2016. Other roofers are telling me that it is unheard of that one would re-roof a house and not flash the chimney. XRC gave me an estimate of just under $4000 to repair this leak. I have yet to speak with the owner of the company. I have asked on at least two occasions for the owner to give me a call and that has not happened. I am not real sure that the company is under the same ownership, it may now be owned by the son of the person I dealt with earlier. I had no say in how the roof was to be replaced as the roofer was working with the insurance company and not with me. I would recommend that anyone having to reroof a house, have a clear understanding of whether it included chimney flashing. It would seem to me to be ridiculous not to have it, whether or not it was discussed. They did a good job on repairing the structural damage but failed on the roof. I can no longer recommend this company.
