I just received a quote from Wilson Roofing for $3,000 to replace four $100 roof vents on a brand new roof. They tried to tell me that the same vents, which I found on the internet for $100 a piece with free shipping, costs $200 each. You would think that a roofing company would be able to get better prices on roofing materials than what a homeowner could get on its own. They even told me that they looked on Lowe's website and the same vents were a lot less than $200, and that they didn't know why their supplier was charging them more than what Lowe's would charge. Next they told me that it cost them $200 per vent to install the vents. Seems pretty steep considering that they don't even have to cut a hole in the roof, nor do they have to wire up any electricity to install these vents because a hole and electricity already exists from the vents that are currently there. All they have to do is simply unplug the existing vent, pop it out, plug in the new vent, and pop it in. My guess is that it wouldn't even take an average roofer an hour for each vent to install a simple roof vent, and I guarantee that they are not paying their workers $200/hour. In fact I asked them if they were paying their roofers $200/hour, and they told me they were not. If you add the $200/vent plus the install of $200/vent times 4 vents, that only adds up to $1,600. I was next told that the $1,400 difference was the profit the company charges for its overhead to install 4 roof vents. It is absolutely ridiculous. If you don't want to overpay for your roofing needs, stay far, far away from this Company. They are a complete ripoff!!!!!

Wilson Roofing installed a new roof back in 2014 and now, said roof is showing signs of not being secured correctly per my new homeowner's insurance inspector. They are indicating warped decking and cuppling around the eaves. Tried to contact Wilson regarding the issues and had to leave a voicemail. Will provide update once issue has been addressed.

Posting an update to my original review in 11/20/2014--another roofer inspected the area where water was pouring behind the gutter--he did indeed confirm that the problem was the fascia and that Wilson did a good job at that time (but wondered why the roof installers had not refastened the gutter and fascia to the building at the time of install).
Last night (11/09/2015), less than a year since my original review--tenant notifies me that the upstairs bedroom ceiling has 2 large water spots--a new roof has failed in less than 2 years. Do not know if the problem is faulty shingles (20-year warranty) or faulty workmanship.....
Left a voicemail today and sent an email notifying Wilson Roofing of the leaky roof. Awaiting their response.....

I recently had my windows replaced and the workmen pointed out that the flashing on my front porch had pulled loose from the house. I immediately called Wilson Roofing because they replaced my roof's shingles several years ago and also a couple years ago they installed flashing that the contractor who built an addition onto our house had failed to do. A gentleman showed up the same day, gave me a quote, and then the following week came and repaired the flashing. The job appears satisfactory. My only ""complaint"" is that I felt a charge of $325 to replace lag screws and to calk to be on the high side, but I wanted the job done quickly, I didn't want to climb up to do it, and most important I wanted it done correctly. Water damage would end up being much more expansive.

One day I was in the kitchen of my lovely old house, which was purchased about 2 years ago with a spankin' new roof, and I noticed some water sitting on the kitchen counter. ""Kind of odd"" I thought to myself. I didn't think anything more about said water until I was in the kitchen when it was raining cats, dogs, and squirrels. I then realized water was somehow gushing out of a nail hole in my wall. You see this wall is below 2 very nice skylights. I knew those bad boys had something to do with it.
I immediately jumped on the phone and called around to make some roofing appointments so that I could get quotes and see what the consensus was as well as pricing. 3 different contractors came out, all said it was due to the last roofing company not putting some sort of specialized tar stuff under the shingles that were close to the skylights as well as lack of flashing, and they all gave me prices.
A friend of mine had recommended Wilson Roofing because they helped her with some of her rental properties. Mr. Wilson, the owner of the company, was the person who came out to meet me and check things out. He is a super nice guy. I can't say I would have picked them just because they had been recommended, but it helped. They were also helped by the fact that they came in as the cheapest quote by about $200 and Mr. Wilson noticed all the same issues as the other roofing companies.
Once my decision was made, I made an appointment for them to do the work. They came out on the day work was scheduled and did an excellent job. I even had a friend who used to be in the construction industry get up on the roof and check things out. He said all looked good and I haven't had a leak since.
