My wife and I bought a 11-year old home in Kahala last year and the original shake roof shingles was installed by Wilkinson Shake Roofing. During inspection prior to closing, it was noted that there were a number of missing wood shingles. Seller engaged Wilkinson to replace and repair accordingly. We received a copy of the invoice from the seller noting that the total replacement/repair cost was $3,786. We thought all was good until recently.

Within the last couple of weeks, we had 2 different roofing companies inspect our roof. Both said the replacement was done incorrectly by just tapping in replacement shingles to cover exposed areas and not replacing them under the existing shingles. One person said ""that's crazy...I'm speechless..."" when told Wilkinson did the so-called repairs.

Also, both roofing companies noted many wood shingles are curling which I was informed was because of the quality of the wood shingles is NOT what it used to be. In addition, there is significant wear and tear where the shingles are disintegrating. This despite the fact that we were informed prior to purchase that the seller even treated the wood shingles yearly if not every other year to maintain its quality!

Both companies said that the majority of my roof will not last more than 6 months to a year. This is ""crazy"" when the roof is now only 12 years old! Wood shingles may look nice but there are many other roofing materials to use that are less costly and still very nice - even in Kahala!

A very smooth transaction from start to finish. Chris Yonkers was quick to respond to make the initial quote. Actual job was done in a very professional manner and did an excellent job in cleanliness.

As a tip, when getting roofing quotes, a cheap quote does not necessarily mean the best quote. Make sure you double check the quality of materials and there applicable warranties. Not all roofing shingles are the same.

With all said and done, I would definitely recommend Wilkerson Shake Roofing to others.
