Nice guys, good crew, came out and the estimate was a bit less than other estimates -- the owner has a lot of experience and overall, I'm happy with the job. I wanted a whirlybird replaced, no problem, and no problem if I changed my mind. They cleaned up the garage floor from stuff that had fallen through the rafters--but the clean up could have been better as it made a mess on top of storage bins and a table. Also, a big concern of mine was cleaning up the roofing nails that had fallen to the ground around the outside of the house. I'd suggest the crew do more passes with a giant magnet, to pick up these nails! The roof went on months ago, and I'm still finding nails--found 5 yesterday. Not a big deal for me to pick up if I see them, but if you have grandkids who like to run around barefoot, it can be a big problem if a nail is stepped on.

I just spent 18 days with Ken on his rare annual fishing vacation. Even though he was supposed to be relaxing, enjoying his fishing trip in the tropical Pacific, Ken was on his cell with Kathy 3-5 times per day directing his workmen from ""long range"" and actually processing perfect tile placement down to the tenth of an inch by cell phone. When my iPhone failed to send even a text, Ken's phone and technology worked, text, voice, and even face time. I need that phone. I've never seen another man work that hard from so far away. It needs to be said, that kind of dedication to perfection on every job is extremely hard to find. He never let even his vacation get in the way of his dedication to the perfect roof. Ken is a real character, with a one of a kind face chiseled by a lifetime of hard work, a great listener, and the best kind of businessman. Personal service way over the top. Way, way, way over the top.

You can't go wrong with Ken (Walter) and Kathy (Strauss) or Walter/Strauss Roofing. W&S was referred to me by a friend in construction who had worked several jobs where W&S did the roof portion of the project and was impressed. I subsequently got several bids and W&S provided me some good numbers thus I selected W&S for my residential roofing project.

I had several things going on at one time; solar, pool solar and some misc. construction along with the roof by W&S. Ken did a fantastic job and communicated well with the other companies on the project as well as with me. Ken is very experienced, knowledgeable, hard working and honest. He was more than fair in the additional wood repair costs. He is very affable, dependable and kept his crew focused and well-coordinated. Ken and his crew arrived at my house every morning like clockwork.

I was very fortunate in finding Ken and Kathy so I wanted to pass along my tip to use W&S with all of you who may be contemplating a new roof. Walter/Strauss Roofing was an excellent choice and they will be for you too. The roof looks fantastic!
