My wife and I moved into a new house in Auburn, CA that had an existing solar panel system installed from the previous owner in 2011. Unfortunately for us, the panels no longer had a receiver unit so we could not even communicate with the array and see what panels were in working order or needed replacement.

Enter Volt Modern with Buck and Jared; they were kind, professional, and quick to come out and look at the array to assess the situation. Furthermore, Jared, who is a consummate professional, came back out numerous times and spent hours on the phone with my solar panel company in order to understand what needed to be replaced in order to restore the system to working order.

Several months, microinverters, and phone calls later, we have a solar panel system that is once again operating at optimal capacity and we owe it all to Jared and Volt Moderns expertise.

The most amazing thing is that throughout the process Jared refused to let the solar panel company gouge us and refused to accept our payment until the job was complete. In his words, he would not charge us until he had delivered sufficient value to justify it, and to his great credit he did just that.

I am extremely pleased with the efficacy and value that Volt Modern provided to us and would heartily recommend them to anyone looking to work on their solar panel array. Bravo!

Recently we made the decision to upgrade our small solar system that came with the home we purchased to one that more closely meets our energy use needs. I came into contact with Buck, Jared, Pat, and Kristen - the Volt Modern Roofing staff - after submitting a request for information via Yelp. I was impressed and appreciated the honesty and candor of all of the folks that we worked with throughout the process. it also doesn't hurt that they are a Sunpower dealer and based on my previous independent research, I consider these panels the best you can get. The process was easy and were helped out all along the way with the necessary paperwork and permitting requirements for completing our project. Customer service seems paramount to Buck and his staff and any questions we had or challenges that were encountered were dealt with and they continued to follow up with us before, during, and after installation occurred and our project was complete. If you are looking for ant Roofing or Solar needs I could not be more delighted than to recommend them to you and I most certainly refer any of my friends or family to Volt if the opportunity arises.

This company performed above and beyond our expectations. We had reached out to Buck with roof repairs and were pleasantly surprised to discover that they also specialized in solar installation. So impressed by the initial plan meeting that Buck convened on our driveway with both crews to make sure that everyone knew their tasks and that all of us were included in the decision-making process. The crew - Memo, Jose, Antonio and Gasper - were friendly, professional and thorough. Sean, the solar lead, answered all of our questions and walked us through the process from beginning to end. We never felt pressured, it was affordable, and their work ethic was incredible. Highly recommend this company for all your roofing/solar needs.

We needed to get our roof replaced as it was over 17 years old and had 3 layers on 1959 construction. I called 4 different companies including Volt. Buck was very responsive and accommodating to my schedule when coming out to give an estimate. He and another gentleman who was learning to do estimates, headed up to get a good look at our aged and heavily layered roof. Out of the the 4 that I contacted he was the most thorough. Their pricing was right in the middle of the pack, however, Volt got the edge with being the only one to add in more attic ventilation and actually explain everything to me making me feel comfortable. We're very happy with the quality of work performed and the communication throughout the whole process. Our house looks awesome! If it made sense for us to install solar they'd earn that business as well.

We recently purchased a house in Davis with a roof that was in need of complete repair. After getting another quote through the home inspection we decided that we wanted to choose based on google and yelp reviews as well as based on cost/value. We elected to put in a new roof and solar system and from the very start Buck and Pat were extremely responsive, straight forward and responded to email quickly. The process of getting the quote was seamless (despite the fact that we were still living in Anchorage at the time). The plan for how everything would proceed was very clearly laid out and the roofing and solar project started and finished on time. The crew was extremely professional, hardworking and let us know when issues with the old roof were found (dry rot etc) and let us visualize where appropriate. There was no point where I wasn't aware of where we were in the process (which moved very quickly since the crew was awesome). Jose and Antonio were especially hard working despite not being the main contact points. Ultimately, I recommend this team without hesitation.

These guys are professional. Friendly and easy to work with, they are flexible and efficient. They explained the entire process from soup to nuts to us. We always pick 3 contractors for any job on our house and whittle down until the best contractor meets our criteria. Volt was the clear winner.

The install crew arrived early and even installed an attic heat extraction fan for me at NO COST! from prior agreement from the company.

The city of Rocklin hired a sub-contractor to perform the final inspection (not just for my job) and the guy was a jerk. Failed us, twice! Volt smoothed everything over very professionally and lined up the Rocklin Building Division Supervisor to perform the 3rd inspection and he was very impressed with the work that Volt performed. He said Volt went above and beyond what was needed to pass, but he said that is a bonus for me.

My wife and I are very happy with our new solar system installation.

I would certainly- and I have already - recommend Volt if you are seeking a professional outfit to perform a great solar system installation.

Buck took the time to fit me into his already tight schedule. I never felt that he was rushing me as he thoroughly checked my roof to find where my leak was coming from. He told me that although the previous roof repair was not done properly he could not find anyplace that would allow any water into my house. I showed him where it should be and he went back on the roof to check one more time. Again, he said I did not need to spend money on a roof or repairs. After some more discussion he suggested that there might be water coming in from an attachment screw at the edge of the roof so went back up on the roof to caulk that just in case. I was amazed that he did not try to sell me a new roof or unnecessary repairs! His charge for all the time and effort was $75 as I recall. Since then he has contacted me at least two times to make sure my problem was solved. As of now I have not had anymore leak problem. I would not hesitate to use Volt roofing if I ever needed a roofing contractor nor would I hesitate to recommend them. I am one very satisfied customer.

On Thanksgiving 2019, we woke to a waterfall coming down the slider in our master bedroom, followed by a leak in another bedroom and a literal rain shower in our garage. What happened to our wonderful ceramic tile roof?! My husband and I had decided about a year earlier we were interested in getting solar and thought when we need a new roof, we will also get solar. We found out that Tesla had a new solar roof where the tiles themselves housed the solar panels...how perfect we thought, and it was made to be ""affordable"". Done, sign us up! We were told it would take a few months as they were backed up on orders. We paid to have someone tarp our house and thought it will just be a few months. In March of 2020, I was asking for the updated timeline and by April we were approved by SMUD and we had our financing approved. I thought surely this is just around the corner now. At the beginning of June I kept checking in and kept getting told they were being held up by Sac Metro Fire. I was being told that they expected to have approval soon and it should only be another month or so.
At the end of July, I inquired again with the same response and I thought, I am going to call Sac Metro Fire and ask why they won't approval my plans. A very helpful inspector told me there was no permit request on file for my home and then proceeded to tell me that Tesla roofs in general were not being approved and that Tesla had been working for over a year to try and obtain approval for these roofs. I called back and Tesla said, well we expect to have that global approval by October this year.
PANIC, we started to panic! How can we find a reputable roofing company in the middle of summer that can do roofing, solar, and financing which we needed all of! I started looking online like a mad woman, reading reviews calling places that were telling me they were booked out past the rainy season. I found a local company, VOLT Modern Roofing and Solar, and went to their website and read all about them and thought, these are my people. I called and Buck got right back to me and I explained to him my dilemma. Let me add here that my husband has metastatic prostate cancer and the last thing we needed to deal with was water damage caused by a severely leaking roof and my husband wanted the peace of mind of knowing the house was in good repair in case anything should happen to him.
Buck was upfront and said they were too busy, and he did not want to give me false hope that my roof could be done before the rain. I was devastated. I thanked Buck for his honesty and with tears running down my face asked what I should do and again was honest and said it will be hard to find someone right now who is not booked. At the end of the call, Buck said, let me check with my team, I may have a solution, but I am not promising anything. He called me back the next day and said he talked to his team about working a few weekends to get my house on the schedule and they had agreed to help us out of our situation, now happy tears were running down my face!
After that Buck came out to the house to show me their products and he helped me make the best selection for our house. He was very professional and personable, and I feel like I made a friend for life. Then Marty came out to the house to begin the process for the solar installation, I was so impressed with his professionalism that I realized how rare that seemed to be of late. It continued with Buck checking in and passing me off to Pat and Mike for the solar plans. Both were amazing to work with. When the day came for the crew to begin working, Gaspar, Marty, Brian, Memo and the rest of the crew were also so professional, my yard was cleaned up everyday after they were done working and they did an amazing job! They were above and beyond at so many turns, I just can't say enough good things about this entire company. For us, they were truly and literally an answer to our prayers. I would absolutely recommend VOLT Modern Roofing and Solar!!
