Worked with Jacob Ortiz. Very knowledgable, and polite, accommodating.
However things started falling apart after delivery of the materials. The crew showed up,and started working, but about halfway through the day, Jacob came to me and said they did not have enough materials. apparently one full pallet of shingles was missing. They finished up what they could on Friday evening as the mist settled in. Saturday it started raining, and my sun porch started leaking. The glued down carpet is lifting, and there is a drip in the center of the ceiling. Boxes we had stored in there are all soaked.
Monday morning, Jacob arrived with shingles, which he said were left in San Antonio.
the work outside is being completed, but Jacob has still not inspected the leak.

Not impressed.
Three weeks later:
Sub contractor for gutters sent a crew none of whom could speak English. The entire job was done wrong. Took two weeks to come back and correct the gutters.
3.5 weeks later.
Went into attic and found a leak at a heater vent pipe. Insulation is wet, wood is wet and ceiling is separating.
Called Vertical so many times over all of this I am sick of them.
Waiting for company rep to return to inspect damage.
Very poor workmanship and very poor quality. Too many excuses. Very poor follow through.

This company gave poor estimate, lost our check, then asked for replacement check of higher amount. They have argued about the cost of services with the insurance repeatedly. Didn't do all work expected, did not clean up after the job. Just not a good experience.

Just bad experience all round. Signed contact 5/12/16. Delay after delay before crew showed up first week of August and then they didn't replace broken skylight. The skylight was to have been repaired at roof installation. It wasn't and leaked around base where they had tore off existing roof. I finally went to their San Antonio office. Was told skylight was special order causing more delay. Agreed to cheaper skylight and it's still not replaced a month later. Resealed skylight myself to stop interior water damage. Still waiting.
Epilogue:
Another 6 weeks and finally got the correct skylight installed (separate subcontractor) and all interior water damage, caused by their initial roofing crew, repaired (again by separate subcontractor). Then they tried to adjust final bill to cover materials not installed and the subsequent repair work. Insurance refused and legal council was contacted. Vertical Roofing agreed to write off the difference and insurance closed the claim per original estimate.

Worked with Daryl Reed from the beginning. He was wonderful at first, making me feel like I had finally found a solid, honest person/company to work with. He made me feel like he cared and even warned me about all the ""shady"" roofing companies out there. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black...

He no-call, no-showed at our first appointment. Days later, when I called him, he apologized, saying he hurt his ankle and had asked someone else to do it.

His initial damage report was very generic and was missing an estimate. It wasn't until days later that he sent a 2nd very generic bid with numbers he pulled right off my insurance report. He said there were a few things that the adjustor missed. Said he had to do a second inspection to get exact measurements once I approved him dealing with my insurance company. Told him I wanted to verify what would be covered before signing the contract with him, to which he responded, ""Ok I will have it for you."" Explained I needed this breakdown because there were a few items we were going to replace/fix ourselves.

He called to verify our second appointment. Said he needed me to sign the contract beforehand. I reminded him that I had told him on multiple occasions that I would not sign until I was clear about the scope of work and what the insurance company would supplement. He said that wasn't how they did things but that he would work with me and go by as planned that afternoon. He called me later that day, 20 minutes after he said he'd be there, to tell me that he needed the contract and couldn't go by for the 2nd inspection until I signed it. I drew the line there and voiced my disappointment.

Additionally, he failed to provide proof of their workman's comp insurance after several requests.

I kept giving him the benefit of the doubt, but at the end of the day, was disappointed - disappointed in how he didn't seem to care one bit about me or the business I was trying to give him and disappointed in how he failed me as a customer after telling him upfront I needed him to help me through this process.

I have a close friend who had their roof replaced by Brian Aycock with Vertical who also validated my concerns about that company being shady.
