Universal Roof and Contracting installed a new roof on our home last week. We were very pleased with this company starting with their sales force, onsite project manager, installation crew, and follow up managers.
Many neighbors and friends used this company to also acquire a new roof, and all of us have been treated with respect and genuine care. Our roof looks great, and adds so much to the overall appearance of our home. Thank you Universal. We'll recommend your company to any and all who ask us who we would recommend for a new roof.

As an out-of-area owner/manager of rental property in the Jacksonville area, I needed to be extremely picky with my roof contractor choice. Universal was the most responsive to my many questions and provided me with the most comprehensive cost estimates when compared with other contractors. They were very communicative throughout the roof installation process and did not disappoint. Now with some follow up work I require (not due to their original installation), I find that their customer service is just as stellar as the quality of their work. I contacted Universal Roof & Contracting several months ago for an estimate on a new roof for my 3300 square foot house as well as contacting 4 other roofing companies. I knew very little about roofs except that I needed a new one. Marty Liles, Universal's agent, was the second of the 5 estimates that I received. I found him extremely knowledgable, very helpful and easy to work with. Marty wasn't just sent to my house to measure the roof and get back to me with a price. He took his time to explain the differences in products and recommended what he thought was appropriate for my house. When I got the 5 bids I was very confused. Marty was the only representative that was willing to come back to my house and explain the differences in the proposals that I had received. He basically differentiated between the apples and oranges that I had received as quotes for my new roof. I had a comfort level with Marty that the other sales people did not provide. I decided to use Universal based upon the feeling of trust and integrity Marty exuded. The price ended up comparable to the lowest offer for what I wanted ( not a bait and switch scenario I was wary of).
The roof was scheduled to be installed about 2-3 weeks after I committed. I was contacted by Ben Daniels, project manager for Universal, to put my job on the calendar. He was very professional and also easy to work with. Ben said it would likely take 2 full days due to size of my house. On the day the roof was to be installed about 8 guys showed up at my house at 6:45am along with Ben. I think by 7am they were working on replacing my old roof with a brand new one. They worked straight through until lunchtime. After lunch they started back to work and after approximately 30 minutes it started to rain. They covered the house so that the there would be no damage. Instead of calling it a day, the roofers stayed at my house until the rain blew over about 20 minutes later. At about 3pm another 4 workers joined the 8 that were already working at my house. They all stayed (12 guys!) until the job was completed. By that time I had neighbors who were home from work and came over to check things out. No one could believe that such a large roof was installed in just 1 day! Not to mention that the new roof looked great and enhanced the beauty and value of my home.
All I can say is that I had a fantastic experience with Universal and would highly recommend them to anyone in the market for a roof or repair. I found Universal to be a highly reputable company with employees who were definitely customer friendly and professional.

Would never use this company for any work. They are not upfront and honest. We called for an estimate to have rotten wood replaced under our vinyl siding. We explained in detail over the phone what we needed. They sent someone out the next day. The guy showed up and said ""uh, so you want to look at getting new siding?"". I explained to him that we had a few different places that needed the siding taken off and replace the rotten wood underneath. He responded he wasn't sure they did that. Yet, he's a salesman for the company and doesn't know what his company does? He called his manager and he also said they don't do that and we need to call a handyman. We called the company to complain about our experience and they said they can replace rotting wood, but ""it's not the type of job they LIKE to do"". Pretty much saying they'd only do it if we were replacing all the siding on our house. And then they decided to tell us they were booked solid for 3 months. Yeah right. They could have told us over the phone that they couldn't do it, rather than us wasting time off of work to not be given a straight answer.
We have gotten a quote from them in the past for a roof leak repair and they had the highest price estimate, we will never call them again.
