I will never recommend this contractor to anyone. $70K for redeck and shingles roof? Looks like it's way overpriced.
After the old shingles were removed, the decks are warped and not flush anymore, and for sure won't pass inspection.
They said an engineer need to take a look and they will also reinforce the rafters. They let us choose with 3 options.
Option #1 is if it's only the redecking & installation of shingles, they're charging us for $47K. There is a middle option and the 3rd option is where they have stated that they will reinforce our rafters, restructure our ridges and they will install strap throughout roof for $63K plus $6K down payment.
Or else the city will take over and we will spend more.
We accepted the price they quoted for the 3rd option because we would never want to go through the same headache again regarding our roof. But no engineer came, no one reinforced the rafters, and no restructuring of the ridges as they have stated. They just simply replaced the decking & install the shingles.
I tried to renegotiate the price because that is way too high, even for the high end average, or even twice the high end average of price of redecking the roof (based on what my google research). But these guys just kept on insisting that I didn't understand what we discussed at the beginning. But the readers of this review should decide, $70K for SRI 20 roof shingles and redeck of 1000sq ft one storey home worth 70 grand? Even with inflation, I don't think so.
They also failed inspection twice. First is because the roofing materials are not in vicinity during the inspection.
Second is they were gonna install SRI 17 singles w/c the city inspector said is illegal. On the 3rd inspection, the inspector asked them to work on the fascia boards.
They should have known those things, unless they are trying to do some tricks and trying to cut some cost on materials. It would have been ok for us to spend that much money if we have gotten our money's worth but I was never satisfied at their service. Multiple times that I have to contact the project manager to replace the fascia boards, to replace the dryer vent thrice because they can't get it right. At the end when I was trying to negotiate the price, they even told me if I know how long their guys worked on our roof. And I told them that it was that way because they kept on failing the inspections.
One final hustle is they en-cashed the final check I issued to them twice w/c caused a lot of hassle and calls to my bank to revert it.

Stay away from these criminals who prey on vulnerable old women in wheelchairs. They lied , cheated , and damaged my mother's historic home by removing her roof and then disappearing for over a week. They left the roof completely exposed to the elements and It poured down rain for 3 days, causing her bathroom to flood and her ceiling came crashing down on her bed! We had inspectors come and they verified that every single room upstairs and several rooms downstairs were compromised with excessive water damage. All the ceilings will have to be torn out and replaced , along with walls too. They tried charging my mother $8000. on top of $20,000, saying if she did not pay that to them, the city would charge her over $15,000 . to do the same work. They frightened her and preyed on her fears. These were all lies. They should be ashamed of themselves. They have been reported for elder abuse, The police are looking into the matter, and they were reported to the CA Lisc. Board. I hope they lose the License so they can't scam any other unsuspecting women.

A job begun was not a job finished well! In addition, this company took advantage of an elderly 95 yo woman who needed roof repair. They left the job, the rain caused a lot of damage, due in part, to the condition they left the property in! Unresponsive, but when they finally came back it was with a swindlers increase and ultimatiion to pay or we will not return! A very unscrupulous company. Stay away from them!
