We had a big job: A very big, old (120 year old) home in Chico. It required a double tear-off (metal roof on top of wood shake), as well as all new plywood and multiple carpentry repairs. The original plan estimated the whole job would take 10 working days, but they somehow pulled it off in 6 days without compromising quality at all. We were super impressed with how friendly and professional all the guys were. They showed up early in the morning and hit the ground running every day. They even went above and beyond with our old dog, and were very sweet with her and conscientious of her whereabouts when doing the tear offs and making sure the gate was always closed.

Again, the quality and service of Tugwell's work was excellent and we would recommend them to anyone after the great experience we had!

The 'quote' was outrageously overpriced and they vastly overestimated the amount of work that needed to be done. They were just hoping I was stupid enough to not gather any other quotes and just replace my entire roof. They make more money that way.

I had a minor leak in my roof in one spot. They sent out someone to inspect the roof and prepare a quote for me. He spent 10 minutes walking around on the roof inspecting things and taking measurements. He didn't even get inside the attic to check the condition of the boards near the leak. He came back and said I needed a total roof replacement and gave a rough estimate of about $13,000, but that a more detailed quote would be sent to me later. I asked what just a repair would cost. He said they wouldn't guaranty repair work and that he couldn't give me a rough estimate on that, it would have to wait for the proper quote.

I asked what exactly was wrong with the roof. He said the valleys of the roof were not installed correctly and that is the source of the leak. Bear in mind, he never actually went into the attic to see where the leak originated. He was eyeballing it from outside. He made no mention of the condition of the roof material itself. My shingles still have many years of life in them. I only have 2 short valleys on one side of my roof in a gable that extends over a small part of the house. So, for a minor leak in an area of the roof that is only about 250 square feet of a 2,000 square foot roof he wanted to do a total roof replacement and charge more than double the cost to replace a roof of that size.

Well, I waited a few weeks for the bad news to roll in (the full quote) and got nothing. No call, no letter, no follow up at all. I guess wanting a repair and not a total roof replacement meant I wasn't worth their time. The Greed is strong with these people.

Well, I got quotes from other companies and did some price research of my own. I got some interesting results. For a roof of my size, on a single-story house, which is standard three-tab asphalt shingles and a standard pitch (ie easy to work on), the high end going rate for a total replacement is about $6,000-$8,000. That is for 30-year life shingles. They said they wanted almost double that. And guess what? Not a single other company that came out said I needed a total roof replacement. One other company said it would be best to replace all the roofing on the gable but even they said the other 80% of my roof was fine.

Do not hire these thieves. They are gouging their prices, lying about the amount of work that needs to be done, and don't follow up when they say they will.

We hired Tugwell to do the roofing job on our home. From the free estimate to the signing of the contract to the finish, Guy did an outstanding job of keeping us informed along the way. They put tarps all around our house so that no debris would get on our yard. They even covered our pool with plastic sheeting to keep it clean. They did great throughout the entire process. Wow, the two guys from Tugwell roofing just left and did an amazing job. The owner of this company should be very proud that his/her employees represent them well. The fixed vents on the roof this morning and did a professional job, ensuring that all elements/problems were addressed and the details were not overlooked. I hear people complaining about their inability to find a roofing company in Redding....I would recommend one look no further than Tugwell. I would not trust another company.

They not only kept me informed, which a lot of companies did not, they were professional and courteous. From the initial estimate up until the roof was finally completed, they were helpful throughout the whole process. And they are very competitive price wise, being several thousands under other bids.
