Recommended Customer Reviews

Wow I've been in the market for solar lately and I came across them through a friend who recently got their solar installed by them. I called them for an inquiry and Alex and such a sweetheart. He broke everything down for me and told me what I should expecting. It was everything and more. Their crew was so professional and they're willing to work with you. Their service was superb and knowledgeable. I will definitely refer this to my friends and family and companies I work with if they want solar. Great job TRE

I contacted this company because they stated they were a roofing contractor working in partnership with the county. While they focused on solar energy systems they were roofers. The online reviews seemed mixed and I wanted a comparable quote to those I had already obtained. I had also researched solar and decided against it. I told them I was only interested in a new roof.
The first salesperson arrived ready to sell me a solar energy system and was poised to wrap the cost of their system into my impound account. He wanted to spend an hour going through his sales presentation and doing paperwork. He stated that as of 2020 all homes have to meet Title 24 requirements. I shut him down before he got started by telling him I was paying cash and I wasn't interested in solar. I asked him if he needed to get his ladder to inspect the roof. He said he got the information he needed from Google Earth and would have someone else contact me with a quote.
A few days later I received a quality assurance call from their sales team asking if their representative was punctual, professional, etc. He told them I didn't have time for a quote. Not true. Anyway they said I would be contacted by another department.
A few weeks later I received another quality assurance call. I advised them of the events that had transpired to that point and that I hadn't received a quote. They said someone would call and they would send another salesperson.
A day or so later I received a call from salesperson #2 and we scheduled an appointment. He was on time, showed me his product, wrote up a quote. He was terrific but he didn't inspect the roof either.
Then more follow up calls from their call center. In the meantime I was talking to the other roofers who had quoted me about Title 24. True Renewable Energy's quote was $20,000 compared to $10,000 from the other companies. I tried emailing True Renew with questions but emails were bouncing back and the one that didn't bounce back didn't answer.
Finally I received a follow up call from one of the VPs. She said she would be happy to answer my questions. I forwarded the email to her and she forwarded it to someone else, who stuck with the same sales pitch, ""Title 24, you need to use these tiles because they're the best product, other roofers only recommend other products because they have a lot of inventory, blah blah blah..."" Then he asked for a third appointment. I informed him that shingles wouldn't work despite my preference for them because I have integrated rain gutters. Had the previous salespeople checked the roof like their competitors did, they would have known this. I also told him that their price was twice that of their competitors. I then received emails from the VP attempting to defend their position and promote her company despite being made aware of their poor service and exorbitant price. Even when responding to my request to remove me from their contact list she made a point of stating that they are licensed and have lawyers. Duh! So do other contractors. Then she signed the email by saying, ""Have a blessed day."" I hate when people use that phrase to clean up otherwise inappropriate remarks and comments. They were super aggressive and borderline in their ethics. She should have apologized.

The new management has been great, they helped us understand the difference in the many products available for making my home green. I really appreciated Mike taking the time and being very transparent about the many products in the market. Highly recommend them if you want to understand the difference in solar panels and other products available in making your home green. Take the time to understand the different products and make informed decision. Thank you True Renew for your honesty and helping us make the right decision.

I recently wanted to get panels installed and went off of one of my neighbors recommendations who already had them installed. He recommended true renew and although I was hesitant based off of the reviews I read I still gave them a call. I dealt with Mike who was very much thorough with explaining everything to me and the process of the project. I went ahead with them because they offered me a competitive price which I could not say no to. Anytime I had any questions in between Mike was always helpful. Thank you TRE for the work you did with me. And thank you Mike for showing me how my meter goes backwards.

In short, TRE deceived, misled, avoided, and lied. They successfully failed to notify the City of Pleasant Hill of correct panel install areas and then installed 8 of 26 panels in an area getting 1-1/2 hours of sun per day when all leaves are off the trees. They successfully failed to notify and stay in contact with PG&E w/r/t our refusing a toxic ""smart meter"" so we got penalized 70 days by PG&E. They avoided calls for payments from Clear Solar Solutions Inc regarding payments for materials, who were expected to freely fix the mistakes of TRE, and would not. They successfully failed to hook up our LGChem battery, our I/O metering unit, and our inverter correctly, Signed in June 2017, it took until June of 2018 to get it fixed. I fixed the SolarEdge account and profile. I arranged LGChem coming out from Michigan to recharge the battery left dead for months by TRE. TRE illegally promised to ""pay"" a new subcontractor, Green Wolf Energy, with ""jobs in the future"" for fixing the panels, MU, inverter-battery circuitry, etc. They fixed it all, and TRE paid them nothing in coin or jobs, except when expecting GWE to pay up front on materials for which TRE had already been paid in full. That's called a ""burn"". It's also unethical. It's illegal in states honoring the rule of law. It's bordering felonious fraud, product misrepresentation, and outright theft. Whichever, it's probably why Renovate America dropped doing all loan business for TRE, and getting stuck with money, systems, and service owed them, as did customers. An example: TRE promised us two months (of the 10-11 added months) as compensatory payments for the incurred PG&E bills but refused to pay later, after four documented email promises. They rarely leave paper-trails, choosing only to lie over rare phone calls, never on paper and very rarely in email. ""Don't need to know"" employees blew the promises apparently, and no longer work there so that the uppy-ups can keep the criminal scam going. They never return calls unless financially or legally threatened. Then, they flood you with abstracts, ambiguities, half-truths, and outright lies. They know little to nothing about solar; they know lots about deceit, sleight-of-hand, and getting away with theft. They do not even make meeting notes so responsibilities are easily shunned beneath ""rah rah"" profiteering drones. Why? Because profits are all that rise to the top at TRE and responsibilities fall on the ""don't need to know"" employees, who take the blame and heat. Also, notes are a paper-trail. This is the worst management of any company I've seen, unless managed deception and parasitism are what is intended. Why waste time managing theft? It only distracts from time better spent out there in the field lying and stealing from new ""customers""! We have reported them to Renovate America, who, after other complaints, has dropped TRE entirely as unscrupulous and unethical. TRE still owes working units, unconnected systems, unpaid subs, overbilled money, items bought but never delivered or installed, etc. We are contacting the State of California Contractors' Board about their illegal treatment of contracts and sub-contractors, and their failure to honor basic support agreements. Their completion rate and untimeliness, as well as their bait-and-switch sales pitch rate them as low as you can go on any scale. They are modern-day ""aluminum siding"" con artists, getting a free ride off the public (as customers) and again off the public (as taxpayers).
Avoid unless you are a masochist, in which case, they will do to you what they enjoy doing to everyone.

Don't go with this xomp. They are totally unreliable. First, they called me last week to set up an appointment despite the fact that I already had a preset appointment with them to provide me an estimate. I asked them if they don't check their records before they do these marketing calls. The person on the phone confirmed that I did have the appointment set for Sunday. Then, Woke up early on the Sunday morning to get ready to meet them for the appointment with them. As you may have guessed, they never showed up. Such professionalism. If they can't show up for an estimate, what more when they have to show up for the job they're hired to do.

Have been harassed by this company's marketing group. I have told Ellis multiple times to stop calling WE ARE NOT INTERESTED. After requesting do not call and requesting removal from their call list they continue to call and try to push their services.
Unethical business practices continue from this company. AVOID!!!

Horrible company and product. Sales people lie with over promises on service and apps. We were told if anything wasn't working we would be alerted on the app that tracks the energy production. That is not true as our system was not working all of those sunny hot days in July and August. We call of course and a blame game goes on between Solar Edge the solar hardware providers and True Renew...some one finally came out and tried a reset with no success and then a part needed to be ordered from China. We of course have heard nothing on the progress going into September. The finance company California first efficiency finance is the very worst. We were waiting for something to come in the mail to know how to begin paying off our debt and nothing for over a month. I call the company to find out the info myself and I'm told I can only make two payments per year and in the meantime all the high interest is accruing and they have several fees that they justify including one called and ""issuance fee"" which was first said a pre payment penalty but then back tracked and called it a ""closing cost"" wth? on Solar financing?? This is a class action law suit in waiting. This company is everything wrong with greed and non transparent business practices. Do Not use, you will regret it like we do.

The worst company in the world to trust with your home. Do not believe a word they say in their sales pitches. The work they did could have been done by a 5 year old. Multiple unanswered texts and phone calls. Incredibly unprofessional, a waste of thousands of dollars. This company deserves to go under and be sued. The multitude of other horrible one star reviews should be enough to convince anyone, do not give this company one second of your time. -5000 stars.

True Renewable Energy is the WORST company I have ever worked with. They are crooks, they are dishonest, and they will lie to get out of promises they made. I used them for new windows and doors and let me just say this, if you want your job done right, DO NOT hire this company. They measured every single window and door incorrectly which forced the installer to remove 2-3"" of stucco around each and every door and window. And now I'm spending my hard earned money on an attorney to get True Renew to paint my home and finish the project which they started.
Their customer service is awful, they lie, they cheat, and they are highly unethical.
PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY FOR ANY SERVICE. I plan to take steps to ensure their license is revoked.
Thank you for taking the time to read my review - I want to ensure no other individual has to go through the hell I've gone through.
