Recommended Customer Reviews

Rick has done several projects for homeowners I have simultaneously worked with while re-roofing the houses. the homeowners were happy and things went smoothly, even with complicated powered operable skylights with operable blinds. He handles the interior work and made some significant interior changes, all with great success.

Don't let this guy in your house. Rick Troutner did an excellent job installing skylights in our home, but I would never hire him again. He ruined some of our clothing during the installation process when tar dripped through the open roof onto our hall closet, and then tried to cover it up. Mistakes happen, of course, but the way Troutner handled it prompted me to post this review. He did not alert us of the damaged items and removed them from our home without our knowledge. It was the middle of winter and we soon realized that all of our jackets were missing. When we called him asking if he'd seen them, he said he found all six jackets rolled up in a tarp, damaged, and wanted to work off the money for the ruined items. We were open to this. Then he found a way to remove some of the tar from the clothing and decided he wasn't going to work off their value anymore, but he didn't communicate this to us. He chose to ignore our calls for six weeks. I was 6 months pregnant and without a winter coat. We were considering filing a police report for theft when he finally showed-up with our belongings, including a leather jacket that was rubbed raw in places from the solvent he used to remove the tar. Totally unprofessional and bizarre behavior. I would never let this guy work in my house again.
