I had originally signed a contract to have a roof done at my elderly grandmothers house. I was her power of attorney. She ended up passing away before the work could begin. Because I was not the executor of the estate. The job was canceled. Several weeks later I got an email saying that I was to pay them $299 nowhere in the contract was there a cancellation fee. When I spoke with the office manager, Francesca, she stated that they were charging me because of a city permit and an hour of her time. When I asked them about the city permit that was never used they said they got a partial return but we're still charging me this $299 fee. They actually threatened to send me to collections if I did not pay it!! When I called to speak to Francesca about it she was very rude and short with me and said that she had to go and would not speak to me any longer, I asked to speak with the owner and she told me that she was the office manager and there was nothing more to say. She then hung up on me...
Unbelievable that they would charge me this fee and threaten to send me to collections when it wasn't my fault, and that my grandmother just passed away! Didn't matter to them one bit. Poor business ethics at its finest...

35 years ago we used Tower Roofing to get a new roof. We were so happy with their work and service when it came time to re-roof I remembered them. They did not disappoint this second time around either. ! Even during these difficult COVID times they came through with everything one could want or need. They were punctual, kept on schedule, kept me abreast of everything going on every step of the way, and the roof looks great. They also cleaned up everyday and left the area spotless. Such a small footprint for such a big job. I needed some trim painted as well and they were even able to do that. They tended to every detail, even cleaning out a dryer vent! I can't say enough about this company. No wonder they have been around for so many years! And did I mention the job came out underbid? Thank you Mark, Francesca and the crew at Tower Roofing, you are the best!

We'd engaged Tower Roofing twice in many years to put new roofs on residences in Goleta. Each time, their competitive bids compared well with other contractors and they were highly recommended by neighbors who'd used them. Jobs were started and completed on time and correctly, crews were efficient, pleasant, cleaned up after themselves and the crew boss was present and accountable. Our roofs stood the test of time nicely.

Fast forward to a different property in Santa Ynez during a heavy storm in January 2021. The roof on our new/older property (recently professionally inspected and said to be sound), began to leak over a living space in the late afternoon. We immediately called Tower. Francesca was kind and responsive and dispatched Billy out to inspect/repair first thing the next morning. Not only did he drive all the way up from Goleta, but calmly went to work in the midst of howling winds, driving rain and sleet. Repairs (of faulty flashing around the chimney) were completed and cessation of the leak was confirmed. Without my asking, Billy even retrieved the spark arrestor from another chimney where it had blown down in the night, and re-attached it properly without extra charge.

No further leaking despite intense rain and wind. Just received the bill and the price was more than fair. Terrific job and thank you, Billy! We definitely recommend Tower Roofing and would use them again.

Decent job but lousy communication and some shifty stuff going on between the father and son business---perhaps some other scheme to try to hide money. Office person (female) very abrupt and short, Chad has a lot of attitude and could not even say hello to the me, the customer when he is on my property and he does not follow up well or quickly regarding gutters. Mark is shifty--talks a good game but then back tracks and ""shucks and jives"" to twist his words, his original bid, etc. Took almost a month from demo of old roof (track house) to gutters installed and they left a huge mess. Also, on the day they removed old roof, they asked us at 4 pm if we'd like to spend $600 to cover the roof with plastic because there might be fog (there is ALWAYS morning fog here--yet they never mentioned this in the contract and told us we had 10 minutes to decide. Something feels crooked about this company. I'd choose another company if I were to do it again. A new roof should not involved this much hassle and some very nasty conversations---the owners seem very entitled, are quick to anger, and lack integrity.

I called to talk to tower roofing about their services and how they may be able to help some of my customers with roofing needs. I work with multiple homeowners in the Santa Barbara area and wanted to inquiring about using Tower Roofing as the roofer for these projects. Unfortunately when I called a lady named Francesca answered, as I started to talk with her, she hung up on me. I called back a few times and my calls were being forwarded until I tried calling with another phone number. When I did, she answered and very rudely told me that she doesn't want my services. I don't know if she thought I was someone else, but I was asking for Tower Roofings services, not offering any services. She yelled at me without allowing me to get a word out then proceeded to hang up again.

I can't even imagine a more unprofessional person or situation. I don't EVER write 1 star reviews, but this was a must. I'm not sure how anyone runs a business like this.

Our experience with Tower Roofing was shockingly horrible.

The owner, Mark McClintock (LICENSE # 631737), embodies all qualities that give contractors a bad reputation.

After our roof was installed we experienced three separate leaks in three separate areas of our roof. The owner said that all of the leaks were not their fault. When we called to notify them of the leaks the receptionist, Janet, acted annoyed that we were calling to bother them about the leaks and told us there would be a $250 charge just to have someone come out and look and we would be further charged for any repairs. The roof was 3 years old at that point with the shingles rated for 40 years.

After some contentious back and forth, Mark finally came out to take a look and told us that we experienced too much rain and wind to expect the roof to not leak, I don't think so, we live in Santa Barbara.

The phrases on their website of ""experts that care"" and ""we love what we do and take pride in our work"", should seriously be considered false advertising.

After a couple thousand dollars in damages and months of construction as a result of the leaks I would highly recommend any other roofing company.

Tower Roofing did a fabulous job for us on a very big concrete tile roof and skylight job. I really appreciated how involved the owner was. He was always coming by to make sure everything was done the right way. The workers were extremely polite and worked hard. I really appreciate how they went the extra mile to make sure all the extra little things were taken care of (they came back to paint some spots that they noticed would look better painted after completing the job). And they were very reasonable on the extra wood repair that they had to do on the job. Such a great long time Santa Barbara company. I am so glad we chose them for the project and am happy to recommend them!

Tower Roofing tore three layers of roofing off our structure and replaced it with a beautiful new roof, completing the job a day ahead of schedule and within budget. From the initial estimate to the final day of work, they were straightforward, thorough, and made sure I knew what was being done and why, and what it might cost. The final day of the job we had some problems with our furnace, and they were helpful and set us up with a reputable contractor to survey and address the problem, which turned out to be unrelated to the replacement of the roof. I would be happy to recommend them to anyone.

Back when I lived in an HOA and was on the Board, I had the ""pleasure"" of working with a half dozen roofers on some minor and major roof repairs. Tower was typically the easiest to work with on the phone or over email, and seemed to show up on time and do the work they said they would. They were also pro-active about pointing out areas of concern such as dry rot when they opened things up, and offered us a chance to have it fixed by them or our carpenter. This was a big improvement over some of the other roofers in this town who were tough to get ahold of and/or just roofed on over dry rot.

Now that I own my own house I needed a get an opinion on if my roof was in good enough shape to install a PV solar system on it. Tower came and said they could repair it, but recommend replacing one side of the roof instead, since a solar system will be on there for 25+ years. I had two other roofers quote on the job and both were in agreement, but both also came in with much higher proposals. I normally would not just go with the lowest bid, but since I've used Tower before I felt comfortable.

Tower came in just a few days later and did the job in two days. Ripped the old roof off, let my solar installer install the mounts, replaced the drip edges, the flashing and put up all new shingles. They also replaced the flashing around the chimney. I had them replace our dormer vents with newer O'Haggin vents for a little bit extra and the roof looks so much better and will be much more ventilated. It rained a couple days later and all was well.

My solar guy came and got the solar on. Both him and my contractor neighbor remarked on how nice the roof came out and how smooth the job went. Overall it was a smooth experience so I will continue to recommend them.

Man, I wish I had heeded the negative review, as I had probably an even worse experience.

I had several contractors give me estimates on my roof (and gutters), and Tower was the most expensive, by over 10%. I still chose to go with them because their estimator spent a bunch of time with me going over all the things I wanted to make sure were done when I had my roof done. He was really thorough and noted all the details had questions on, pointed out the areas that they would have to touch up, and made me feel like I was going to get all my concerns addressed and a get high quality job, and I thought that way I would not have to spend my time babysitting the job to make sure it was done right.

Originally I was planning to have my house tented after the old roof was removed before the new one was put on. A friend recommended that idea to me after a tenting company tore up his brand new roof. The scheduler from Tower told me they would come Thursday morning and tear the roof off and have the plywood down by Friday afternoon so the tent could go on. I ended up having to cancel the tenting because I couldn't get help moving the required stuff out of my house. Even with the tenting, the work was originally supposed to last just a week. I am thankful that I had to cancel the tenting otherwise I still might not have a roof.

The guys who came didn't bother to read their instructions that I was getting new gutters and spent A LOT of time working around them and fixing damaged trim that was going to get removed in anyways. After watching them for most of Friday I had to ask the lead worker why he was doing this, and this is when he broke out his instructions and it dawned on him as he read them for the first time that he wasted a bunch of time and material.

To make a really long story less long, one of the guys came on Saturday to try and ""catch-up"" for the time they had fallen so far behind on. They finally completed the roof after a week of work. When I went to go inspect the work, I saw areas that were braced with splintered scrap wood, instead of new construction materials. What a joke.

The gutter people were not even available to start their work when they were supposed to (immediately on completion of the roof), and I had to wait even longer, a full week after the roof was done because apparently the material they had ordered for the job had not even showed up yet!

The big issue here was in the place of the old gutters, they had the transitions from the roof line to the edge of the house, now approximately 8 inches lower, which is much less visually appealing, and very problematic in the spot where one goes right over my gate, which I now have to duck under to avoid hitting my head. They also didn't read their instructions and didn't have the gutters in the front of the house drain onto the lawn as I had requested instead of the planter boxes which causes me problems when it rains.

So all of this was a pain, but the real insult came when I got the bill with many hours added on to the estimate, raising the already high price EVEN MORE. I couldn't believe the audacity of the proprietor after I had spoke with them about the countless hours wasted on the job. It only got worse, when I asked him to break down his estimate to show that the additional hours were not overcharging as I claimed, and he refused.

Don't be like me, and not listen to what the other Yelper said ... I won't even say ""Do business with them at your own risk!"" I would just say ""Don't do business with them!""
