When our roof leaked for the third time around the vent of a recent heating and air installation, I called the Tom Yancey Company in Carmichael, on Fair Oaks Blvd. A neighbor had used them and was satisfied.

Our roof was a 25 year old cement SHINGLE, originally rated for 50 years, but the MATERIAL was extremely brittle and pieces had been falling off for years. It was time for a re-roof.

I am completely satisfied with my experience, beginning with Adrian and office staff when the first task was to prevent further leakage until roof replacement could be scheduled.

The plastic covering was well-placed and held down with heavy tiles and stayed in place during heavy winds. Not a drop got through.

The Tom Yancey Company installed Owens-Corning Juniper Woodmore shingles and their Turbo-Ridge ventilation, as well as new gutters. Some slight dry rot repairs were required.

Everything was done neatly, cleanly and BEAUTIFULLY.
Workers responded to my questions and requests and Adrian was available any time I needed him.

Marlo, in the office, helped with the Building Inspection scheduling, calling them for me more than once and that went smoothly as well, with the inspector commenting:

""They did a good job!"" ""You have a beautiful roof!""

The building inspection was completed the same day as this review.

Excellent job on our roof, so glad we went with Tom. He gave us great pointers on selecting the right materials for our very tricky roof. From stripping to final completion we were happy with all aspects of the process. Tom's got a great team.

Disappointed. Mr Tom Yancey himself came out to my home for an estimate to re-roof on June 8th, 2015. Understood that he had a graduation to attend the upcoming weekend, but I would receive an estimate by the following Wednesday/Thursday (17th/18th). We are now on the 24th and I have not received so much as a phone call regarding the estimate. No longer interested now.

Tom Yancey Roofing in Carmichael is EXCEPTIONAL! I recently had my entire house reroofed, new attic insulation blown in, new gutters, reroof and skylight replacement of back patio and two really cool interior skylights installed in my house.

I am really inexperienced when it came to a large project like this, did a lot of research and had 3 complete estimates done. My goal was I wanted someone to handle everything for me - I didn't want to worry about the permit process, coordinating anything or having to buy anything myself. Although all 3 basic estimates were very competitive, Tom Yancey stood out because he gave the most complete estimate (3 page document!), outlining details and options, he is the only one who when on the roof took detailed pictures of everything and did a full presentation of everything to me, brought samples of everything out that I could touch, and he was the only one who followed up with me after the estimate.

Job went very well. Started on a Tuesday, ended the following Wednesday. The tearoff was done very cleanly and completed start to finish within 2 hours the first day! The entire job itself was done by Mark & Allen who are two great guys, very thorough and know what they're doing (and actually were fun to have around my house - I'll miss them!) They both have been with the company for ages!

Every single part of the job was coordinated flawlessly from start to finish! Tom came out the final day to review everything, take after pictures comparing the before pictures and sharing and explaining everything to me, and we reviewed everything. There were a few minor items that needed follow-up and I will admit that did take a while to complete due to their schedule, but overall I am 100% satisfied with their work! Absolutely love the new look of my house and especially LOVE the interior skylights! If you have ever considered getting them, go for it!

I would not hesitate to refer them or use them again. In fact, I have actually referred two people to Tom Yancey roofing, one of them who is having her project scheduled as we speak!

It was time for a new roof and after getting multiple bids from local roofing companies I decided to go with Tom. He was very competitive on price and I believed he really understood what he was doing. He was very thorough in his bidding and with his explanation of what would be happening. They blew in attic insulation while the roof was off and installed the turbo ridge vent system. Very fast and clean install and everything went according to the plan. I was impressed with the crew and with Tom. I highly recommend Tom Yancey and Co.

My husband and I had gone through various contractors getting quotes for our roof as well as replacing all the dryrot and gutters on our home we purchased a couple years ago. Tom was fabulous when he came out to do our consultation appointment. He took pictures of everything he and his team would be working on as well as other items that we had wanted done. For example, we had a fix with our waterheater pipe, his team moved a lightswitch and doorbell for us, and added box covers to our electrical in the attic before they added more insulation.

The whole project was done in five business days (started on a Tuesday and finished the following Monday). His project manager Adrian was very attentive and informative in regards to if anything came up unexpected or simply just to let us know the progress of things. They were all very easy to work with and took any concerns of ours into consideration. Our roof looks amazing! Especially those seamless gutters in all the pictures really do make the house look upgraded and chic. Tom Yancey Company did an amazing job and I would recommend them to anyone.

Tom's company is amazing! My husband and I are so happy with our outcome! Tom did our estimate, had great deals and was on time when scheduled. His selection is extremely extensive, just life Tom's knowledge of the product, installation methods, regulations and safety issues. Tom isn't pushy at all and is very patient. We had to get our funding in order and it took a while to do that but we didn't feel pressured.

Once funding was established, we were on the production schedule the next week. Adrian was our foreman and was super sweet and professional. He answered all of our phone calls and questions.

The office staff was sparkling in every communication. So friendly and warm and willing to do what it took to make us happy. I never waited for a return call or felt like I was talking to someone who didn't know the whole job.

The crew was extremely respectful of our property and our limited parking situation. Things were handled cleanly and with minimal impact on our day to day lives.

Rich was the gentleman that Tom hired to install our beautiful gutters. He's a bit of a subcontractor for Tom but has been working for Tom for years now. He's quick, professional, and completely respectful. He did most of the gutters by himself and did a stellar job. Our house (and detached garage) had some difficult gutter requirements and they were done without complaints and at no extra charge.

The products that we decided on for our home are beautiful and top of the line, not to mention guaranteed for many many years.

Our house looks amazing and way better than we ever imagined. Our 1940 cottage looks like a storybook gingerbread house, but with clean lines and beautiful textures. The new roof is an amazingly unique product that makes us stand out in the neighborhood.

Every person we encountered through the Tom Yancey company was professional, unerringly sweet and polite, and was perfect at what they do.

Permitting for the work was done efficiently and professionally (and painlessly!). Our billing was explained thoroughly and laid out with all explanations so we were never left to wonder what we were paying for. We needed extra repairs on our structure and hvac venting, and those were outlined and never exceeded our predetermined estimate overage. Our final tally was a lot lower than I had imagined.

I met with Tom for his final inspection once the work was completed, and when he left I felt completely satisfied with every aspect of the work that was done and with the service I received. And I'm picky!!! As a woman, I've received the ""little lady"" attitude from service people before. I never felt disrespected or talked down to by anyone associated with Tom Yancey.

Tom also referred an electrician to us. Mike Bebb was an amazing referral and we couldn't have been happier! I plan on doing his review next. He and the roofers worked together to keep everything efficient and running smoothly. Great collaboration, guys!!!

Fast and efficiency is how I would describe my re-roofing by Tom Yancy Roofing. My re-roofing project was a difficult two story duplex with vertical sides and I could not be more pleased with the finished job! The cost was very competitive and the finished roof exceeded my expectations. I received excellent customer service throughout the project and the job was fnished ahead of the schedule.

Do not use Tom Yancey Company to perform any work for you.

After the completion of the re-roofing of my home, I learned that Yancey did not satisfy the contract. Despite efforts to convince Yancey to complete the work as agreed, I ended up in court where I was successful in a judgment.

As required in the contract, Yancey did not complete the project in a timely manner, did not insulate the attic as stipulated, and did not install the radiant barrier in accordance with professional standards. The project was completed in six weeks when the contract stated completion within 8 to 10 days.

Following the successful court decision, I sought an energy efficiency assessment by a company identified by the Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD). The company identified that the roofing company (Yancey) left so much roofing debris in the attic insulation that all of the insulation had to be removed and new insulation installed to satisfy energy savings requirements. The company also indicated that the radiant barrier that the roofing company installed was not installed correctly. These findings were confirmed by other firms who provided similar evaluations.

As other indications of the negative work that Yancey performed, we experienced Yancey employees 1) causing damage to our ceiling on two separate occasions by dropping a ladder through and also when an employee fell through, 2) disconnecting the water heater vent, 3) cracking the driveway where roofing material was dropped from a flatbed truck.

For reasons indicated above, the Tom Yancey Company should not be utilized for any work at your residence.

Tom Yancy of the Tom Yancy company came out to our home to give estimate on re-roofing project. We invited him into our home to discuss material selection and shortly after he is requesting to take pictures inside our home of the different rooms ""to get a better idea of the layout"". I repeat this was for a Roofing estimate, Tom Yancy made me feel very uncomfortable. I refused having the pictures taken and couldn't wait for him to leave. Tom Yancy gave me the creeps.
