Company Overview

As our office team is currently reduced, you might experience a delay in call responses, but rest assured, we will reply to everyone as quickly as possible. Our priority is delivering top-notch roofing solutions, making certain that every residential and commercial property we service is equipped to withstand the challenging weather conditions of Southern California throughout the year.

In 1945, Tom Byer embarked on his roofing career with his dad in Sierra Madre. In 1981, Tom relocated to Orange County and established Tom Byer Roofing two years later. Brian W., who is Tom's stepson, started working at Tom Byer Roofing in 1985. By 1989, Brian earned his state contractor's roofing license, and that same year, the business transitioned from a sole proprietorship to a corporation. In 1992, Brian obtained his Class B general contractor license. We continue to be a family-run business located in Garden Grove. Trent, Tom's son, has come on board as our main sales representative and is a C39 license holder.

Trent finished high school at Marina High School in Huntington Beach in 1984. Trent holds a C-39 state roofing license. In addition to his roofing work, Trent is a baseball umpire in Orange County and enjoys tackling home improvement projects.

The roofers were considerate and professional and I was satisfied with the work they performed. I had a roof leak on my third floor patio and they carried their material up a ladder on the outside of the house rather than carry it through the house. The cost was reasonable (not the highest or lowest, etc.) and I'm keeping my fingers crossed until it rains again, hopefully next January:).

It took about a month from the time I first contacted them to the time when someone actually showed up to inspect the roof. I followed up with a phone call every 7-10 days. Given my experience with other roofing companies, this time frame seems typical after the rainy months. Let's face it, the best time to fix your roof is in July & August when it hasn't rained and the demand for roofers is lowest.

We had a leak in our kitchen when the heavy rains came a couple of months ago. Every roofer was busy, but Brian came out after a few days went by and we believe he solved our problem. He found that a nail had worked its way out of the roof and left a hole for the water to come in. While he was up on the roof, he put some cement or some mixture into the hole to plug it up. Another company wanted to pull back several feet of shingles to see what the problem was and that would have involved more money. Brian didn't charge us anything at the time and said he wanted to wait and see if it held through more rainy days. It did hold and later he billed us for just a service call. We had the roof looked at and repaired just 2 years ago so we thought it was something minor. We appreciate his honesty and his quick service. We are seniors and could not get up on the roof to see the problem. If anything goes wrong again, we will definitely call Tom Byers Roofing.

Very professional and reliable. With all the rain in February, our little old house sprung a roof leak. Brian came out within a day of my phone call to inspect the roof on my home and detached garage. Received an emailed estimate the next business day. With how busy they were, the office said it might be a week or two before they could do the job, but they would try to fit our house in sooner since it was a small repair job. Pleasant surprise when Brian called the day after I sent in the contract, asking if his team could come by that morning. Perfect timing as the next storm was due later that day. No more leaking. Happy customer!

Color me really disappointed. In need of some roof rafter tail repairs and preferring to work with a local service provider, I searched Yelp & found Tom Byer Roofing to be very highly regarded by pretty much all of the reviews posted. So I called Tom's office, and the woman answering the phone was very personable and thorough in understanding my needs, was honest in telling me that Tom had approximately a week backlog, and that he would call back with an appointment time. After no return call in almost 3 weeks, I called again and reached Tom's answering service, told them I'd previously called with no callback, and was told they'd have Tom call me. Two days later without a call, so I called again, and again reached the answering service - so I told the person that this was my third call and that I was getting frustrated, and the said they would email Tom and have him call me back. Six days later, and still no call - I was inclined to give up on Tom, but remembered all the great reviews and my preference to work with a local contractor, so called again - and spoke to his office (I think the same person as my first call), let her know that this was my 4th call without a return call in what was now over 3 weeks; was told that Tom was out but that she would definitely have him call me. Well Tom DID call back, and unfortunately I missed his call; but he did leave a message. In his voice mail he apologized, indicating he had ""sent an email I think last week or the week prior and I don't know what happened to it"" - no, I never got an email from Tom Byer Roofing (yes I checked my junk mail). His message went on to advise that his guys were busy and it would be a month or two before they could do the work - without talking to me to understand if I had a sense of urgency to get the work done, which I do not; these are not critical structural or leak points, I simply wanted to get a quote so we could budget and plan the work. His message then advised he sent a referral to another contractor I had not heard of or researched (and with a 909 area code so presumable not a local contractor) - and while I guess I should ""appreciate"" the referral, based on all of what had happened to date, it was not well received. So while from all the reviews Tom apparently does good work, his inability to simply to simply return a call in a timely manner, and then his assumption of my needs without a live discussion, is and should be considered as highly unprofessional. After over 25 years in a field where I partnered with contractors and subcontractors to serve my customers, my recent experience here would assure that I would never call or refer this contractor again.

Tom Buyer Roofing is the WORST! He came to my property today to 'fix a leak' in my upstairs bedroom. I showed him the bedroom stain on the ceiling, he exited the house told his workers to go up on the roof and ""look around' I asked him to go into the attic to find out exactly where the leak was coming from, he refused , meanwhile his workers are up on the roof ripping off sections with a crowbar, while I'm telling him to allow them to go into the bedroom to at least see where the leak is rather than ripping up sections of my roof. I also explained that I want him to see where the insulation is wet, and that mold is probably all over the area in question. Hs exact quote was "" What MOLD? It takes TEN YEARS for mold to show up!!!!' He was yelling so loud, and was so irate he claimed that I could just deal with our association management. He then left without notice. Upon exiting the roof a neighbor and I noticed that the workers broke two of the shingles when they decided to rest their two story metal ladder upon the shingles instead of on the fascia board. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY YOU'LL BE SORRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This company also took 7 days to come out to our property after we stated it was an emergency. TOM BYER IS BAD NEWS FOR ROOFERS, AND OUR COMMUNITY!

My tenant called me to let me know that the roof was leaking because drops were falling from the ceiling. I called Byer Roofing Services and made an appointment for Brian Wolsky was able to meet me at the house for a free estimate. I asked Brian if the repairs could be done quickly because of an oncoming rainstorm. I didn't want the inside of the house to be further damaged by the rain. Brian was able to squeeze the repairs in and his workers did a great job. Brian responded quickly to my emails and phone calls. Furthermore, he was able to meet all my requests such as pictures and a detailed invoice. Thanks Byer Roofing Services.

We had a flat roof extension done on our roof during a remodel over the front door. It had a bad leak that seemed very hard to Identify the reason by at least 3 other contractors. We received quotes from $10k to $30k..from a complete redesign to complete new roof. Our roof isn't even 7 years old yet! We tried to repair ourselves which didn't work very well. We even had one contractor say our repair was done by a professional, clearly it wasn't, but refused to fix it.
Brian came out and assessed the situation and clearly stated what we saw was wrong and the fix. The bid was reasonable and they came out much earlier and fixed in a day. The work looks great and after 2 storms, no leaks. Very satisfied and will be calling them to reroof when the time comes.

We had Tom Byers replace a part of our roof ten years ago. Not only was the price competitive, but the work was done right and fast, including pulling permits and scheduling inspectors.

So, when we recently discovered a leak in another part of our roof, our only call was to Tom Byers. Prompt response and quote, even though we weren't at home. This was a small drop-in job for them. They did it two weeks earlier than estimated--right before the recent rains! Job completed in just a few hours Wednesday morning and a dry house throughout the rains Thursday evening and Friday morning!

We are very satisfied and consider Tom Byers OUR ROOFERS!

I hired Byer Roofing to replace all of the fascia at my home. The job was mostly labor and the guys did an amazing job. They were extremely professional and very knowledgeable. You can definitely trust Tom and he won't let you down. You can also expect to see him drop by the job site a few times a day! Great follow up and impeccable service. Thank you!

They delivered on the scope of work exactly as promised and even did some additional minor fixes at no additional labor cost. Easy to deal with and completion of work on schedule as initially promised.
