In March of 2013, we decided to make some much needed repairs to our house. Looking at our list of projects, the obvious choice was a general contractor. However, our past experience with general contractors had been bad. The work tended to be shoddy, the prices a bit high, and getting item by item pricing frustrating to impossible. After trying to parcel the work out to various independent contractors, the remodeling project quickly became a dreaded task to tackle and some of the work was best suited for a general contractor. So having received Mike's information from the foundation company we worked with, I called Titan Contractors.

To be quite honest, I really didn't expect a very positive experience. My expectations were for my request for individual pricing to be pretty much blown off and to be prepared for questionable quality and the hassle of trying to get it corrected. However, I was pleasantly surprised on both accounts.

Mike and a foreman visited my house and walked through each project we wanted. I felt at the time they were taking my requests seriously. We discussed different options/scenarios and by the time they left, I had some hope that I might actually get the estimate in the format I wanted.

A couple of weeks later, I did get the estimate I wanted, and exactly how I wanted it. The prices were reasonable, but as expected, I needed to pick and choose projects. We worked through the estimate until I had the scope fairly defined. Over the course of a couple of months though, I changed my mind a few times and adjusted the scope to fit within my budget. All the while, Mike kept adjusting the estimate until it was where I wanted it.

By the time Robert and his crew arrived to do the work I was actually feeling better about my decision to use a general contractor. But given past experience, I did worry a bit about quality of work. They started working the week of July 1st, but we had company coming the following week. We asked that most of the interior work be completed in 3 days. They worked hard and got it all done. Not only that, it looks great! Part of the project was closing in a doorway. You can't tell a door was ever there. They also did a wonderful job replacing exterior woodwork and repainting.

In addition to doing great work, when replacing an outlet became a fairly extensive project, we were not charged extra. This was a big surprise to me. When I brought up the extra time spent to repair it, there was no hassling or suggesting I pay for the repair. They took responsibility for the extra repair and kept to the original pricing. It was quite surprising.

Perhaps this shouldn't make much of a difference in my opinion of Titan Contractors, but it was so nice to work with people who were truly bi-lingual. Robert and his group all spoke excellent English, so there was no miscommunication. Again, this should not be a huge deal, but for me it was. If he needed a particular color of paint, I wasn't struggling to figure out what he was saying. If he was unavailable and I needed to ask a question, any of the other three gentlemen could answer my question. I appreciated being able to easily communicate what I wanted and in return I was happy to answer their questions without concern that I had answered the wrong question.

Overall I'm very pleased with Titan Contractors. From the beginning they seemed to truly care about what I wanted. There was no pressure to upgrade or add to the scope of the project. Additionally, when they could not match a price, they let me know so I could go with a less expensive option. They were patient throughout the process and when it came time to do the work, they did a great job. They very much exceeded my expectations and I will be using them again.
