I cannot recommend this company based on their bad faith billing practices. They filed a mechanic's lien after trying to charge for a few hundred dollars worth of work already paid for in a $40,000 contract.

Specifically, we contracted for a metal roof and asked to add a few extras -- gutter guards and sun tunnels. The contract included the labor to install the guards and the sun tunnels, but excluded the unit cost of the tunnels. 

The company finished the work and it seems decent. However, they tried to bill for the labor as well as the material cost of the single sun tunnel we ended up having installed. Our sales rep Pat had explained to us that we would only pay the material cost, and that is what the contract says, yet they persist in trying to have us pay extra. The company also did not give us notice that they intended to file a lien on the property after we explained back to Pat that the labor cost was included in the agreement.

Overall, Roofing Friend overpromised on the contract and is now trying to use a lien to extort a few more dollars out of a large contract.

This company was very responsive, efficient, reasonably priced and quickly addressed requested follow up work despite also being very busy and having plenty of customers. They did a very good job in my roof. have asked them to come out again for work on another roof based on my positive prior experience with them.

Finding a good roofing company was so hard while dealing with the added stress of starting a new job and having a loved one in and out of the hospital. We had to make time for at least a half dozen or more companies to come out to assess our roof and provide an estimate.

We found The Roofing Friend through my boss who recommended her contractor's subcontractor. But the subcontractor only did commercial roofing so he recommended us to Tino at The Roofing Friend for residential roofing replacements.

Tino and his son, Pedro, were punctual and professional. They provided us a quote within 24-48 hours and took their time to answer all of our questions both in person and via email. Personally, we liked the app they used (something called thryv) to provide us with the before pictures of the roof, contract, appointment confirmations/reminders, invoices, etc.

We are waiting on the next rain (but who knows when that will be in California) in order to see The Roofing Friend's quality of work as we pray we will not have any leaks or other problems, but if we do encounter any issues, then we hope we can still count on The Roofing Friend's 10 year workmanship warranty as stated in the contract.

However, a few down sides (as no company is perfect) which is why we rated 4/5 stars, were we never received the in progress pictures, final pictures, and final invoice via text or through their thryv app and we also caught one worker from the demolition haul away crew rummaging through and taking some empty pill bottles out of our recycling bin. Luckily we remove all personal information from things we throw away and recycle so it was not a huge deal but something worth mentioning in case other future customers do not have cameras on their property. But Tino and Pedro are very nice to work with and seem like honest, hardworking people!
