Andy has made some big changes since these old reviews were posted. He has proven to be responsive and punctual with his time as of late. He has roofed several houses for friends of mine, and they are all very happy. The prices were all very good. So this review is the start of a new look for The Roofing Company. Will recommend to others. 5 stars for sure! Good job Andy!

Andy and his company used to be very good...not sure what has happened but cannot even get a return phone call anymore after repeated messages and texts.

Andy came and installed a new roof on the house we are renting (family members of ours are the landlords, we handled the process on their behalf).

I have a background in residential remodeling and am also a licensed contractor - I am familiar with professional courtesy and quality work.

I do NOT recommend this company at all, based on the following experiences:

1) Scheduling: schedule kept getting repeatedly pushed back, so that the start date was a full month later than I was guaranteed. This was a problem, because I had family staying in our house the week before our wedding, with sections of the roof exposed and debris still falling in. I scheduled the work months in advance to avoid this, and yet he still could not follow through. This, however, is the least of my complaints, and would not earn a 1-star rating if simply because of this.

2) Site protection: Crew drove a huge dump truck through our garden to get close to the house. In all fairness, it did not look like a garden. However, after asking Andy to notify his crew of this, they continued to drive through it each day, as well as use it as an area to stage debris. They also never notified us of when they were coming to start the work, so one day I came home to unexpectedly find them tearing up the old roof. Everything in my garage was completely covered by asphalt pebbles / misc debris. They said they would clean up after the job was complete, but the mess was everywhere. They finally cleaned up, but left a huge amount of cleanup for me to finish. They should have done appropriate protection (plastic, drop cloths, etc) of our belongings prior to beginning demo. This is standard professional courtesy and best building practice. They also left nails, torn off paper, and wood debris scattered around the perimeter of the house after performing only a quick cleanup when the job was complete.

3) Quality of work: The first rain after the brand new roof was installed resulted in a leak at one of the ceiling registers. Consequent rains have shown another leak on the other side of the house coming from the kitchen ceiling vent. This is on a brand new roof, just a couple of months after installation.

4) Response time - quality of repair warranty: Getting Andy to come out to repair the leak has been a nightmare. He will not respond to emails or phone calls sometimes for weeks. By now, he has been out ~3 separate times to address the first leak, and yet it is still not repaired. His crew has never performed a water test once to ascertain where exactly the leak is originating from. Even if they have the location correctly identified, the ""fix"" is not working. Each time it rains again and I try to get a hold of Andy to see when he can come back to address the leak, he will wait anywhere from 1-3 or more weeks to respond to me.

New roof installed (old roof was demo-ed completely, this wasn't an overlay on top of it) - July 2017

1st rain and noticed leak immediately - November 2017

Now have two leaks, none of them fixed after multiple visits by Andy's crew (visits spaced weeks apart due to Andy's inability to respond to emails or phone calls) - January 2018

We had a comparably-priced quote for a new roof from another contractor and are kicking ourselves for not having gone with them. We are hoping Andy can eventually fix the leaks in his new roof, otherwise we will seek getting reimbursement from him to have a more competent roofer come out and repair Andy's work.

Horrible roofer. Did not replace my flashing either. Forgot to have insulation installed. My roof looks like he used the cheapest wood possible as it ripples. Has left my roof with tarp and rocks for over a year.
I turned in to BBB and have called Contractors board. Still no response.
I'm just disgusted.

The worst. I'm a real estate broker who uses various contractors of all trades. Andy the owner has always been very nice. I needed what I thought was a straightforward repair of an addition with a fairly flat pitch. Got a bid, agreed to price. The crew showed up (seemed like they knew nothing about roofs) parked in front of the garage then proceeded to trounce across my entire roof to get to the back, damaging it as they went. Slammed down materials shaking the whole house. Tore up insulation, without even consulting me and roofed over the error. When I asked Andy why there is now a raised area and a recessed area, he said""oh we removed some insulation."" Now the room vibrates. When I went up on the roof after they were ""finished"" there were hundreds of nails flung everywhere, scraps, debris, they left a huge roll of materials, they did not put any flashing around the chimney. When I called Andy to find out when they planned to finish the job, he thought they had already finished. He came and got the material, but didn't finish the flashing. Weeks later he returned and slopped some black goop on my beautiful brick fireplace. The flashings around the fireplace are suppose to be metal with the metal flashing actually countersunk into the brick and mortar. They did a horrible job. Worst thing is the rolled material is seriously rippled, so water sits in the low areas. I'm calling the State Contractors License Board since the owner won't reply to my communications. He sure cashed my check though. Avoid this company.

Second leak in less than 6 years of brand new roof. (Exact same location, all around the chimney). First time was after the first storm.. They came out and basically slapped some tar around the area. It worked up until now. I hired a different company to come and take a look. Turns out ""The Roofing Company"" left the old, rusted out flashing from the prior shake roof around the chimney and did not install new flashing. Between drywall damage and tearing up part of the roof, replacing chimney flashing and re-sealing, I am now out around $1000. Is this what your customers should expect after spending 10k-20k on a new roof? Apparently so. And I am nowhere near done letting everybody know about the shoddy work this company does.

Merry Christmas!
