I don't have a sensitive nose, but even I can smell the black mold still in my home several weeks after this company remediated it. My cats are as sick as ever from it (they've seen vets over this), even though I've put up a barrier to the part of the house that was treated. I can even smell the black mold on a different floor than where, according to Homestar, it was contained. I got very sick myself (which a doctor can confirm) when they were doing the remediation because they didn't use protective measures until I complained (I have emails that show this).

Too bad I can't leave less than one star. Run far and fast from this company, and particularly from the owner. A company is only as good as the man in charge. Even though I am overall pleased with the house that he built, and have told him so several times, he never followed up on the punch list, despite numerous promises that he would. There was sloppy craftsmanship in a number of places -kitchen, garage, both front and back porches- that he refused to fix. I've been in the house a year and a half. The owner stopped communicating after I moved in, and after he bullied me into completing payments, even though we both knew the work was not done. I complied, against the advice of many people including the bank and a lawyer. As I suspected, once payment was given in full, he disappeared. Very poor communication and tactics. Extremely poor customer service. The concept of customer service seems to be foreign to this owner. The words ""my personal dislike for you"" were in an email to me. I was denigrated for feeling bullied; I know what bullying feels like. Who talks to customers that way? Changes during construction were made without my authorization; which I had to keep because it was too late or too expensive to change them. I'm not saying they were all bad, but the owner has the right to be consulted before, not left to find out after. To be fair, they did fix a couple of things after I pointed out that they were not what I wanted. Nice, but that does not make up for everything else. Bad decisions were made in construction; for example; flooring was put in before the walk-in bath tub was installed. They had to be torn up and replaced in that room. This was added to my expenses, which I protested. A half-wall had to be constructed and a window raised because they ordered a tub that was too large for the space. The tub sat on site for over a month with no one noticing the problem until the installer came- causing more delays. The driveway was very late being put in, causing more delays because things could not be delivered. Expenses for things that were not done, or were done because of their mistakes, were added to my bill. It became so obvious that I had to go through the charges line-by-line because I couldn't trust any of it. The personal family problems of the owner (and project manager) interfered with the timely construction of my house. After long delays (and the aforementioned personal dislike for me), he finally turned it over to another project manager, and that's when things finally started happening. I paid for repairs out of pocket- over $5000. A lawyer was engaged to get reimbursement, but that was ignored. This seems to be the business model and habit of this owner in my experience. Too bad I didn't do my research first. I do not want resolution. I have washed my hands of this and want a very unpleasant experience put behind me. I respect myself and my contentment too much put myself through the stress of a lawsuit. Please be warned.

It would seem I should have done my homework as well Homestar Group was paid over 12k a month ago and work has yet to be done. I talked with sales agent Bryan King who I told him about my frustration with insurance company dragging their feet he assured me they would get started on it. Well it now being a month later with no work having been started I'm here to tell you it's all lies. I don't believe ANYONE should be using their services and it this point I'm going to demand the insurance company get a full refund because this company is a scam. Then I was being told the construction industry was slow which is a lie because I had another contractor come out and find the materials needed to do the work they just needed to get paid so why is it someone else can find what's needed to get the job done and this company can't?
