Tate Roofing has done two roofs for me over the years. I trust them completely. The roofs were 100% right and they dealt with my insurance seamlessly. They come out anytime I call jump on the roof and always shoot me straight with the best options. I would never use anyone else.

seems to be a great small business (neighbor used them and roof looks great)...

this is a shame on me. first time homeowner, first hail storm. very naive. didn't pay attention to what i was signing, and decided to go with another company that could do everything the insurance said needed done (tate couldn't do window screens).

anyway, instead of chalking it up to ""maybe I'll get your business next time"" he decided he needed to collect $300 because we broke contract. it was there in writing, and was his legal right to do so.

so, just be aware of what you sign. it's not permission to go on the roof with the insurance adjuster, it's a full contract.

an additional note: read the fine print on the back. If they break something inside, they don't have to fix it. but on the bright side, the company we did go with is repairing the gas line that they accidentally hit with a roofing nail free of charge. just because it's in the contract, doesn't mean it's good business to stick it to the customer.

so here is to $300 stupid tax. i've learned my lesson.
