After comparing several roofing companies while I had multiple large leaks in my kitchen with the winter rains, I decided upon TAG Construction. I really appreciated the thorough estimates, the options laid out for me and no-nonsense approach. Other companies were severely trying to upsell and recommend things I knew I didn't need on my tiny house. After getting a lot of information on solar panels and feeling very comfortable working with Karl, Donna, Don and the rest of the team I basically said ""well, since you are up there...throw 'em on!"" They were very informative of the cost and timeline. I also had them repair a broken door and replace skylights - they have a skilled crew, that is for sure!!
My only feedback is the lack of communication at times was rough when trying to determine when we needed to be home to let them into the house for finish work or the garage. This turned into being frustrating at points but I know scheduling multiple people and projects can be tricky, so I took this with a grain of salt. And at the end of the day, the quality of the work speaks for itself, having multiple people I can reach out to should the unlikely event that anything goes wrong is HUGE peace of mind.
Thank you TAG for turning my sad little house into a happy and functioning one. It means a lot to me having you all on my side!!!
PS: Donna is in the front office and is the nicest person EVER. You rock girl, thanks for keeping me laughing through everything. :)

Such an outstanding experience. At first, it was a little difficult to set things up, but once Donna and I were on the same page, she was super helpful in setting up my start date ASAP. Tom and Karl and his entire team were professional, worked quickly, and genuinely cared to do nothing less than the best. They could have charged me way more than they did, but stuck to their original bid even after realizing there was so much more to be done in order for it to be done right. Tom (the owner) came by every day to check on things and make sure things were moving along. Can't say enough good things about TAG! Thanks so much!! My first project as a homeowner and it was so easy thanks to them!

After Karl called and explained the situation I gave them another chance. The repair job itself is well done in a timely manner. the team came on time and site was kept clean afterward. Karl explained they have learned from the feedback and hired more staffs to improve their office/customer service, which is a right way to do! They would be five stars if there were no delay in the first place.

We recently hired TAG Construction to install a new roof and build
an addition on our home in San Diego. Our first contact was Harry,
who was very thorough in explaining the entire process to us. He
was very accommodating to our requests and also stopped by several
times to check on the crew's progress and job quality. TAG is a very
trustworthy company that gave us a reasonable and fair price. Progress
happened in a timely manner. Harry was professional and answered all
of our questions and addressed all concerns we had. Tom, the owner was
quick to answer all specific needs. He was very responsible to the entire
process from start to finish. We would happily hire TAG again should we
need any further improvements made to our home. THANKS AGAIN TOM

Had Tag Construction reroof the house recently. They did an excellent job at a reasonable price. They were on time, efficient, did very high quality work, and always extremely courteous. They are the best roofing company in the area.

Poor construction and poor customer service, but cheap price, is the reason for this one star. We had a flat roof installed with a 10 year warranty. Six years in, we call out Tag to take a look because of various leaks. The guy says, ""This roof is shot and needs to be replaced."" When we told him that Tag did it and it was under warranty, he got noticeably upset. They came out and did minimal patching. We got sick of dealing with them and went with a new company even though we had 4 years left on this roof, supposedly. Come to find out, they installed the wrong drip edge to begin with! Inexpensive for sure, but worth it? Not in my experience.

I used TAG in 2009 for a flat roof and tom, the owner was great. I needed my tile roof redone so I called them again. This time I got Carl. He did the estimate but I rarely saw him on the job. After everything was done, I saw spider webs on the part of the roof that was supposedly replaced. I had carl look at it with me before I made the final payment. He reassured me that part of the roof was done. 2 months later, I noticed puncture holes all over the wood paneling on my ceiling. There's probably 20 of them w wood pieces chipped off. I called tag back and insisted on getting tom to redo the work. Tom agreed and next thing I know Carl calls me up and told me he's handling the project. I told him that i do not want him handling my roof as his supervision was what let to this problem in the first place and I don't trust him to repair it. He stilled tried to badger me into it and I finally had to call tom to tell him to get carl off my back. Tom managed to patch up the wood on the ceiling of my historic house AND redid the part of the roof with spider webs, which tells me that part was not done even though carl looked me in the eye and swore it was. If you do use them, beware of Carl, just like the other Yelp review said. I should have minded it but thought they did a good job the first time, and it was probably just an unhappy customer. I've learned my lesson.

I reviewed this company unfavorably recently due to poor communication from the company to me (the customer). Since then, the company completed the work and did a good job in a timely manner. The owner of the company heard my concerns about not keeping me in the loop about delays, returning calls and getting all the company spokespeople communicating with each other about the job so as not to lead a customer to think one way when another thing was to happen. I think our interactions will improve their customer relations in the future.

I made an appointment on-line with TAG back on 3/6. The day of my appointment, I received a call from the company saying their system double booked me and they asked to reschedule. I reluctantly agreed to reschedule for today, 3/15, despite having to drastically change my work schedule. I could not get a specified time window and was just told ""before noon"". I took the appointment and made the appropriate arrangements.

Come today, they have yet to show up for the appointment and no phone call either. I tried calling the office twice and cannot get a hold of anyone.


UPDATE: Karl from TAG just left my house. Although he was late, he was apologetic and did a thorough review of our roof. He gave some good advice and even sealed a couple of vent pipes for us. I am upping my review because of Karl's service
