I can't praise TAG Roofing highly enough. After the recent heavy rains this December, I discovered a small leak in my garage. Tom Gelastopoulos (Tag's president) came out to take a look and determined that some shoddy patchwork from a previous repair (most likely by a termite control company, not a roofer) was the culprit. I hopped up on the roof with him and he pointed out exactly what the issue was. He mentioned that the valley flashings (where the roof lines come together like a valley) were metal, which was not the appropriate type of flashing for a composite shingle roof. I knew this to be the case because earlier that day another roofer came out to give me a quote as well, and both described to me the same issue.

(To be clear, the other roofing company seemed to be an outstanding and honest company as well, but as you'll read, Tag really went above and beyond.)

Tom quoted me approximately the same price as the other company to do the job, and both companies told me my roof probably had about 5 to 10 years left in it before needing a complete replacement. This is about what I expected given the age of the roof. However, Tom told also told me that since the leak was so minor, I could probably get away with just a minor patch until the roof needed a complete replacement. I was shocked to hear that a contractor was not only NOT trying to up-sell me on potentially unnecessary work, he was actually UNDER-selling a potential job.

He pointed out the weak spots and showed where I could probably just get away with some silicone patches and how I would go about doing it. But then, to top it off, Tom went to his truck and grabbed some silicone, a putty knife, and a razor blade, and proceeded to patch the leak on the spot. Not only was he not looking to make an easy buck, he didn't even charge for the minor patch. Granted, it only took him a few minutes, but what a kind gesture nonetheless.

When the time comes for any future roof repairs or replacements down the road, I know who I'll be calling. Tag Roofing is clearly a reputable and honorable small business. Tom's a straight-shooting, nice guy who isn't trying to rip off the customers. It's the right way to run a business and clearly he knows this from experience.

Kudos to Tag Roofing.

By the way, I know I haven't written too many Yelp reviews, so I hope no one thinks I'm just a shill for Tag Roofing. I just felt compelled to write up a nice review after the great service, so please feel free to message me if you're still uncertain!

Love these guys. Discovered a leak in the last storm. Karl came out right away to assess the damage. He had some guys come out the next day and fix it. Great job and even though it was raining and it needed to be done right away, he did not try to gouge me like the other contractor did. Very reasonable fee. Highly recommend him. His workers were really good guys too. Thanks. He is busy because he is great at what he does! 5 stars all the way.

Hi everyone, I am not sure how busy this company may be??? But I called and made an appointment with someone, I believe his name was Tom a few weeks ago. He gave me an appointment at 8:00 a.m., so I had to come in late for work in order to keep the appointment. I waited until 8:20 a.m., and nobody showed up or called me to let me know whether they were gonna come or not . So, I decided to call the company around 8:25 a.m., nobody answered my call, so I left message to ask if someone could call and let me know what's going on with the appointment. However, there is nobody from this company would ever return my phone call till today. Just want to let everyone know, so you can prepare if you're planning to work with this organization. These guys are fantastic, hard working and crazy efficient!!!
Karl came out to do the inspection of the garage roof at my mom's home. He was able to get the work started 3 days earlier than initially planned which was great, the sooner the better! These guys worked super fast and had the roof stripped off in no time which blew my mind! They started installing new wood within a few hours! Like I said eeeeefficient!
I watched majority of this 1.5 day process and it was such a huge relief just to know that the job was being done by these guys and done right! Thanks guys

Submitted quote request via the website and left voice mail a couple days later. No reply to either. I would not do business with a contractor who cared so little about a potential customer.

Wow I am impressed and would recommend Tag,

My parents have not had very good luck with contractors; have been taken advantage of by overpriced and shoddy work. They needed to have their roof replaced, hired someone that left them without a roof for months, adding tremendous stress, leading to my mom having a stroke and me stepping in. When they supposedly finished and wanted additional money, I said I would have an inspection before paying anything more.

I did a search on Yelp and called a couple of places before I reached Karl at Tag, who was very compassionate, understanding and said he would be by that same day. Within a couple hours, Karl arrived and I found out that the contractor doing the original work did not have insurance, should not have staff, etc. so I immediately asked them to leave and not come back as Karl inspected the roof and of course, there were things that needed to be corrected.

When I tried to pay Karl for his immediate response, assistance and helping me out during a very stressful time, he refused and said, ""It's the least he could do when someone takes advantage of an elderly couple"". At that point, we hired Karl to fix the issues on the roof. Within days, his people came out and resolved the issues so my parents can rest easy that they will not have a leaky roof.

I was so impressed, that we are now in the process of getting on their schedule to add a patio to my parents house, which I will be happy to share that experience when it is complete.

Bottom line, honest, great attitude, great customer service, and someone we will call on for any work at any of our families' houses in the San Diego area. Cannot come up with the right words to express how thankful I am so all I can say is THANK YOU, THANK YOU KARL!

Tag Roofing is just wrapping up re-roofing our 50 year old house that has a challenging 7.5/12 pitch. Karl was very prompt and efficient with the bid and getting back with me on any questions and concerns. He would come out if needed, so there was never a point when I felt they were not very responsive.

They outbid most of the other roofing companies and added a few gems to the deal to make it completely worth looking into their free estimate of work.

The workers are very skilled and clean. Sure- it's a complete mess when you have to pull two layers of old shingles with paper and replace damaged wood, but they have a great cleaning crew to recover the nails and blow out the never-ending shingle grit.

Overall, Tag Roofing did an awesome job, finished in the time he estimated and at the price he quoted. This is the second house I've had to re-roof, so I'm aware of some of the challenges with getting quality work. Very happy with their work.

I got bids from 3 companies for our roof. This was hands down the most professional and cheaper compaby. I worked with Karl who was so nice and prompt and had amazing communication. Amazing company!

Happy customer! These guys did a great job at a very reasonable price. And it was a tough job to hand carry the shingle bundles through my backyard and up the ladder! Whew hard, hot work, they did it with a great attitude and good cleanup. Definitely recommend!
