We worked with Sustainable Living Builders last year to replace our roof with a Tesla solar roof. Overall they did a great job: the work was of high quality and they were generally responsive to our concerns. We did run into a problem where they initially told us that we could wire in our generator (during the winter we get very little direct sun) and then concluded that this was not possible. This was quite frustrating, but they assured us that if we ran into a problem over the winter they would come back, which was comforting. Even more frustrating was that after the job was done I thought through the circuit and repeatedly tried to get in touch with them to figure out why the generator transfer switch could not be placed between their system and the house breaker. There was no response to any of my emails or texts.

I'll add that during a 2 day outage we came very close to running out of power despite unplugging everything we could, a concern given that my 88 year of mother lives with us and we depend on electricity for both heat and water pressure.

Overall I would give them five stars for the initial work and one for post-job customer service.

Incredible!! From start to finish. I live in Berkeley and worked with Juan and his amazing team to redo our roofs and gutters, which really, really needed work. They even replaced fascia. From the beginning, Juan was very generous with this time and expertise, the whole process was transparent and we are all very happy with our new roof. They even came back to fix some minor things that we noticed without delay.

SLB was recommended to us by our neighbor and I'm so glad we went with them. Very professional, transparent, and friendly.

We hired SLB to replace our our roof and skylights. The entire experience - from meeting Juan Hernandez for the initial evaluation and project scope, to the professional crew doing demo and installation, until the end of inspections and clean up - was impressive, professional and high-quality. Even during COVID, winter storms, and navigating HOA & city permits, they got the job done with a smile. I hope we won't need a new roof again, but if we do we'll definitely call Jaime and Juan Delgado. I highly recommend Sustainable Living Builders.

Good luck with these guys. Great website, performance not so great. Also, their finish work is very suspect. Sure they are nice, but if jaime and juan who speak perfect english, are not on site, there may be someone whose english is not so great. So, if there is an issue, there is no guarantee that your issues will be properly understood. That is when mistakes happen. Also, there are many promises and schedules that are not adhered to. And bottom line the quality is not there. Lastly , they are not problem solvers, so if issues come up and that is the nature of remodeling - window installs, etc, it will more than likely be funky.
