Our roof was leaking during the recent rains and it was really difficult to get anyone to come out and see what the problem was. Sunshine Roofing was working in my neighborhood and I walked over and spoke with Julio, who was the manager. He agreed to take a look at the roof when he finished his current job. He came a few days later, diagnosed where the water was coming in, advised on how to improve the gutters. He sent me an estimate for the work the following week and the work was done a couple of weeks later. I was very impressed by Julio's responsiveness as well as the quality of the work.
Without hesitation, I would recommend Sunshine Roofing.

Why Sunshine Roofing? Here are a few words that describe Sunshine Roofing: Professional, Great Communication, Personable, Honest, Flexible, Listened, On Time, Awesome.

I have a 2-story stucco home with a tile roof. The issues were dry rot in a couple of corners (front and back) dirty and broken tiles and a few rusted gutters (by the dry rot).

I sought estimates from 3 companies. One company said I needed a whole new roof to the tune of 56K. When I ask why as my roof was only 28yrs old and no leaks, the response was ""it would cost more to remove the tiles by the dry rot and replace than to do a whole new roof."" Really the dry rot was in a couple of corners. Maybe they just did not want the work? Another company and Sunshine Roofing were aligned on the issues, the resolution (do NOT need a new roof) and estimates. I chose Sunshine Roofing. Their ability to provide maintenance service for my roof was a plus.

The process:
I sent an email defining my issues on a Friday. I received a response that Monday and had an appointment on Wed. Julio was on time for the appointment. He explained why I had dry rot and that it could be repaired by removing/re placing the tiles in the noted areas and the few broken tiles in other areas of the roof could also be replaced. The dirty tiles could be cleaned, and he had recommendations to reduce future moss growth. He advised that the gutters by the dry rot would need to be replaced as those were rusted and that we did not NEED to replace all gutters. I truly appreciated his honesty regarding the gutters. He didn't push or try to sell me something I did not need. However, since I was also painting my house, I went with replace all gutters and downspouts. He took all points of discussion and advise that I would have an estimate within a day.

I received the estimated as promised and advised him/Rachel that I wanted to proceed. We were scheduled within weeks. I had front yard work being done so the planned start time for roof work was perfect. I did have a few more questions on the overall process. Rachel was very prompt in responding and addressed all my questions and concerns with clarity and professionalism.

The team was on site early and cleaned up each day. The young man that cleaned the roof worked his butt off that day!  The entire team was hard working and very professional.  This was new for me and my husband and we were able to see the work getting done. We ask questions (got to watch the gutters being created, that was cool) and Julio was very patient with us and answered them all. The team completed the work on schedule.

I am EXTREMELY happy with the work and confident with the team that did it. I like the look of new gutters and I can clearly see the difference in my roof.

We have an old house and over the years Julio and his team (including his Dad) have always been very responsive and provided competitive quotes. We have used them twice in recent years and they get my 5star approval.

We had a small leak last winter. Based on where it occurred, it is most likely an issue with tje flashing on skylight. Seeing the five star reviews here, I emailed photos and detailed explanation of the brand of shingle, age of roof, etc. what I done to test for the point of leakage.

I requested that they contact me to schedule on site review/repair. I wasn't even shopping this around. Which is why I provided the details in the original email. I really just wanted them to schedule a time and show up ready to make any necessary repairs. I was pretty much willing to pay any reasonable amount they might estimate to make the repair without attempting to get a bunch of competitive bids for this small job.

I received NO REPONSE! I followed up via phone, leaving message on answering machine. Still, NO RESPONSE! Followed up with another email requesting they at least respond to let me know they have received my inquiry, and let me know if they were interested. I realized this was comparatively small job during the busy summer season. But I needed to know if they would even come out at some point before the rains. Still, NO RESPONSE.

I don't even know if they are in business at this point. :-(

Sadly - for them - this minor repair was to be a test for some much larger roofing work I am in need of, including a complete reroof on another house I have in Contra Costa County.

I don't chase contractors. NO RESPONSE says plenty about them, before I even hire them. If a contractor doesn't take the time to respond to my initial phone call, email or in-person consultation within a reasonable time frame, I take that as a sign of things to come. If I hired someone like that, I should not be surprised if they don't keep to their schedule, take longer than he promised, skip days or weeks during the job, or prolong the job and run over the estimate/budget.

I am left doubting the validity of the five star reviews here on yelp. Maybe they just got a bunch of their friends and family to post such positive reviews.

Hats off to Sunshine Roofing. They were able to quickly and efficiently solve our roof problem and at a very reasonable price. I loved that he took photos of our roof so I could see what needed to be done. And as it just started raining, it was so good to know that he was here to help as he promised.

Gus and his team did a fantastic job on our roof. I met with Gus on day 1 and he explained what his plan was and how long it would take. That was a Wednesday morning. Our new roof was finished the next day by mid day (a day early). They were clean and respectful of our property and our neighbors are still complementing on how great it looks. Great company and a great family.

It's usually a pain to coordinate work done on the house... a lot of no-answers, voicemails, etc. They responded quickly to my request, and I was able to get the work done in the same week. Basic gutter and roof cleaning - there was a lot of moss growing on tiles and plants sprouting in the roof valleys. They arrived on time for the appointment, were friendly, and got the job done. Couldn't have asked for more. They made it easy, and I appreciate that!

Julio and his team were absolutely amazing. I am so thankful that I found them. I found out 2 months after purchasing my home that my homeowner's insurance would be cancelled if I did not completely replace the roof. Not only was my roof steep, I was surprised to find that it had 3 layers and NO sheathing. The roof needed to be fixed immediately, and after spending almost every night for 2 weeks getting bids - from Sears, local roofers, and large contractors - I found Julio. Not only was he equally knowledgeable, but also the most responsive, and had a competitive price for what needed to be done. From the time it took for him to do the estimate, to finishing the roof was about 6 days. On the first day I was home sick and his crew worked so hard, and was also kind and considerate. Clean up was excellent and I have a beautiful new roof! Wish they did other services because it was such a pleasure working with them.
