Upon my search for a company I kept returning to my quote from Milholland although not the lowest price they have the best overall Plan for my home and worth the extra money . The Office (Maya)will work with you every step of the way from scheduling to completion. The installation team was professional and hard working keeping me informed all the way through .

Aesthetically beautiful, appraiser expects it to significantly increase the value of my home, I get an 8k tax deduction(30% cost of project), financially bright decision for my monthly budget and my kids are thanking me for being kind to the polar bears. I'm so pleased with the experience that I'm considering purchasing an electric SUV down the road and will request to work with Milholland SunPower again.

I was looking to get Solar installed to get rid of SDG&E's ever increasing electric bills (ave $400/mo). I was excited to visit Milholland Electric's booth at the recent Fall Home/Garden show in Del Mar on 10/5, as their El Cajon office (they're also in Poway) is down the hill from me and have gotten very good reviews here on Yelp. Due to the late time of the year, I had a requirement for each of the companies that, to avoid wasting everyone's time, they could get this done and in operation before the end of the year.
My wife and I talked with Nestor at the show and he gave us some good information (even telling us NOT to get a battery storage...how many sales guys tell you not to buy one of their products lol). He said that they had a self imposed deadline of 10/10 for getting the projects done by the end of the year. That didn't give us very much time, and asked if that was a flexible date, since we wanted to get a few bids and do our due diligence on the companies. He wasn't positive that it could be done, but he would contact the owner (Brian Milholland) and see what they could do to rearrange their schedule to get our project done in time, but he said it was a strong possibility. We set up a day/time that next week (10/9) for Nestor to come to the house.
He arrived promptly at the appointed time, and we had a great conversation about what we wanted to accomplish. He provided a number of options and after determining which route we wanted to follow, he gave us a proposal that would produce just a little more than what we were consuming to offset the $10/mo SDG&E charge so we would be paying as little as possible each year.
Since he was the first bid on this project, we informed him that we had other companies visiting that week, and we would let him know. He never used any high pressure sales tactics, or made us feel uncomfortable in any way, which we liked.
We met with the other companies and they were all around the same price as Milholland Electric (a dealer of SunPower products, which are supposed to be one of the better panels). There were a few questions I emailed Nestor about, as we had made a slight modification in the kind of system we wanted to install. He returned my emails promptly with the information that I requested.
It came down to Milholland and another company, but we chose Milholland since they did everything ""in-house"". I contacted Nestor on 10/17, and let him know that we wanted Milholland for our solar project.
Unfortunately, we were a little too late, as his roofers and solar installers were completely booked thru the end of the year. He said that the 10/10 date was set as the deadline since they were going to be booked until January.
While I'm partly to blame since I waited so long to get this done (which my wife has reminded me of many times lol), I would have appreciated Nestor letting me know during our emails that there was no way to get this done this year.
Overall Nestor was great to deal with, and I would have (probably) been happy with Milholland Electric doing my solar install. The 4-stars would have been higher if I was told earlier that my project was definitely not going to be done by the end of the year.
We contacted the other company and, with a little scrambling around to find a roofer for repairing the underlayment, they were able to assure me that the solar would be done by year's end. But that's for another review....

Milholland Electric is a company I would recommend to anyone who wants top notch electrical work backed by solid understanding and talent.
In my case I wanted to have solar panels installed, and eventually new heating and central air conditioning. In order to do that I needed a full electrical upgrade of my entire house before the solar or HVAC could be installed.
Brian Milholland came to the house and explained the plan, procedures and costs. I agreed to his proposal. Within the allotted time, and with no glitches, this complicated job was completed and ready for the solar panels.
When I write reviews for big jobs like this one I usually wait a few months to make sure nothing goes wrong after the install and that the results are stable. In this case they are.

Our solar panels just got activated yesterday. The entire team from Milholland is top notch. They are always courteous, very patient with all our questions, and very responsive by phone or by e-mail. This made the whole experience very smooth and drama-free. The installation team is very professional and did everything to satisfy our HOA. I would recommend them to anyone who is thinking about solar.

Don't even bother.... last message that was received from the PM or Sales Rep (??) was:

""It usually takes a few days to get all the plans drawn, I have contacted Maya and Omar to begin the process. I am working with Sunpower to get the credit app and loan documents sent. They are having trouble with your address due to it being a new home. ""

That of course was over a month ago. They will truly pretend like they are competent but in the end will leave you high and dry....FAIL. This company could care less about customer service and will eventually fail you. They even pretended as though they were going to contact me to try and resolve this and of course never did....

Fantastic solar experience from start to finish. Oscar, Maya, Art, Miguel, Austin, entire install crew, Jose, David and Silvia made the process educational, professional and tailored to our needs.

Pricing was competitive but they really shined in service. Welcoming all questions (even the repeat ones, as we wrapped our heads around the various aspects of solar) with knowledgeable patience. Communication was stellar in every department - quick, transparent and always with our convenience in mind.

They were amazingly fast. We were operational within a month of signing the contract. Just in time to face the worst of the summer heat with solar!

Even after the panels went up, Miguel and Jose came through to check that the install was done properly. Their inspection was seamlessly coordinated with the city's and their attention to detail was truly outstanding. They addressed every one of our concerns with a working solution.

Exceptional company to work with on so many levels!

This is a great company for Solar Electric and roofing..and Solar install...I wanted to make sure the contractor I picked had a 25 year record woking on Roofing and Electric and was licensed in all trades plus solar. The install was great. I had a roof leak before the install and they fixed for 500 Dollars. I did have a glitch with Sunpower. Sunpower sent out a sub contractor other than Miholland..that not do a good job..later Milholland was sent out and repaired the problem..I owned a commercial property management company for 30 years...I would surely use these guys.
