If ever there was a company that truly deserves 5 stars, it is Straight Line Construction. From the very beginning when Jack, the owner, came out to give us an estimate to the end when the gutters were put on and Brad walked the roof and made sure all was perfect, this was hands down the most professional company I have ever worked with.

Our story starts in Sept 2015. Our rental house needed a new roof so I contacted Straight Line and 2 other roofing companies for estimates. One company didn't even meet with us, they just assessed the roof and dropped off their bid on our front step. The other company did meet with us and emailed their bid soon after. Both of those bids were not quite one page and barely described all of the work that needed to be done. Their prices were similar. Then there was Jack. He really impressed me. He took the time to sit with my dad and answer any questions he had without seeming rushed or annoyed. We ended up sitting on this because my dad wasn't ready/able to spend $10k on a new roof.

Fast forward to April 2016. The tenant living in the house notified us the roof was leaking so now it became urgent to fix. Money was still an issue so I decided to get one more estimate for a total of 4. That company didn't impress me either as their bid was the least detailed of all but they did tell me about a program called Ygrene, or energy backwards. This is a fantastic financing program for energy related home improvements that luckily includes roofing. Instead of traditional financing based on the person's credit, the loan is based on the home's equity and the payments are tied to the property tax so you pay them at the same time. I applied online and was quickly approved for $30k. I browsed through the list of contractors they work with and was so happy to see Straight Line's logo! The whole financing process only took a few days and was so easy!

Their price was the highest but in the end I think it was comparable because I knew exactly what we paid and he didn't try to add extra money on the back end. The bid Jack gave us was 2 pages long and exactly as detailed as I would expect for a roofing/construction job. He included eave vents, O'Hagan vents, metal eave plates and so many more items the other companies didn't bother to include. This level of detail starting with the proposal gave me a strong indication that the entire job would be very high quality with every detail paid attention to - which is very important when you don't know a thing about construction or roofing and are trusting people to do a great job that will last 30+ years.

Day 1 - tear off one layer of shingles, install waterproof underlayment and clean up.
Day 2 - install new shingles, new flashings, ice and water barrier under the flashings, roof done. They cleaned all the junk and left everything spotless.
Day 3 - install new gutters, final inspection. Job complete.

Monica was such a dear in finding a hole in their booked schedule and slipped us in quickly. A few days/a week before they started I received an email with a preparation list so I could notify the tenant of what she needs to do before they come. Each day before the workers arrived I received a reminder email with the name of the foreman. At night every day during the job I received a call personally from Jack checking in to see how things are going. The level of communication is outstanding. Each person, Ray, Noel, Jason and Brad all took time to explain the progress to me (and didn't make me feel stupid), let me climb up on the roof so I could inspect as I chose and were very professional. Brad even went the extra two miles and wanted to ensure the water heater pipe was attached properly since they had replaced the vent. He noticed it was old and wasn't properly attached to the vent in the ceiling so he actually went down to Home Depot, got the heater tape or whatever was needed to fix it, and did it for me! That's the best thing about the people in this company, they remove your stress. That's one less thing I have to worry about since I don't (yet) know a thing about home repairs. We still have to have the inspector come out but I'm sure it will easily pass. We will receive a packet with the warranty, permit, etc. for our files.

Straight Line is also an Owens Corning preferred contractor so that's another way I knew they do quality work. They do everything to honor the mfg's warranty, nothing less, no shortcuts.

The best thing about having a job well done is peace of mind. I no longer have to worry when it rains or the wind kicks up because I know the roof is safe and protected thanks to this company. I hope the workers know how appreciated they are and how important their jobs are in making our homes safe and protected. It's hard work and they deserve many compliments for what they do every day. Had Straight Line do my roof, deck, window, repair inside sheet rock/paint, and stucco a portion of my home. They did a great job. I wouldn't hesitate to hire them again. I recently experienced a leak in my hallway that apparently wasn't fixed when the prior job was completed. They came to my home to check out the problem. I was assured they would find the problem and fix it under my warranty. I'm most impressed with the integrity this demonstrates. Thank you, Straight Line.

The first time I used Straight Line Construction it was to replace my roof. Not an easy job as I have a very pitched Tudor style roof. The crew that was sent out was so professional, clean and completed the job quickly. So when I needed some gutter realignment and repair they were the only company I even considered. Again, very professional, cleaned up the area and even patched some stucco. I would highly recommend Straight Line to anyone!

Straightline came in with the best price quote of all the roofers in the Placerville area. The work they did was amazing. They showed up on a wednesday morning, tore off the old roof, made the necessary repairs and then on Thursday came in, laid down the new roof, cleaned up the entire yard and was done with the entire job in those 2 days.
The new roof looks great and is holding up fine to the already rainy start of the 2015/2016 winter.

Straightline is an excellent company. They did everything as planned and on schedule, keeping us informed each day on what was happening. Each day they cleaned up before they left, leaving everything spotless at our El Dorado Hills home. They are a very ethical, Christian company. They replaced part of our siding, installed a new front door and slider, and then painted the entire outside. Excellent work. And a friendly staff as well.

After the inspection we were told that our roof would be good for another 5-7 years. However there were some suggested repairs which we agreed to have done. By far the best experience! We needed a new roof and as a recommendation from my in laws we chose Straightline it was an easy process. Scheduling of dates and the crews who showed up for tear off and replacing the roof were a great group of men. They did an amazing job and the roof looks awesome. They were courteous and explained things well. They also did an amazing job cleaning up and the foreman came by for one last walk through.
