In Praise of Southwestern Roofing! Old school values, fair pricing, and competence!

I had Southwestern Roofing and others bid on a large project to replace decayed wood and replace old, dilapidated siding with Hardy Plank, upgrade gutters to larger size, paint and caulk the outside of my 2-story house and rebuild damaged wood and siding around chimney to prevent rain leaking into that area.

Southwestern was the only bidder who presented a professional folder stating all the services were available through them including manufacturer's' information for top grade material they used. It included BBB, Manufacturer's, and customer review letters -all were top notch rated for a business that has been active in our communities for decades. BBB was A+. (Other bidders were F's or unrated but with serious complaints of taking money and not completing work).

They provided their in-house professional construction, gutter, painting, and general contractors assessments of damage and needed repairs for a one-page final estimate and were easy to work with details, suggestions, and options. All were pleasant, thorough, attentive, thoughtful, helpful, and extraordinarily accommodating. I felt safe when they were around with respect to me and my property.

The construction began promptly on the appointed date and the teams worked tirelessly from early morning to late in the evening to complete all the work in a few days, stopping only to keep me informed of any needed changes or confirm open estimate items- items that could not be known beforehand but estimated prices were already on the estimate before work began. They all smiled frequently as they worked and seemed to really enjoy doing their work and pleasing the customer. The workers were friendly and if there was a language difficulty, they would quickly get another employee who could clarify the conversation to speak with me promptly.

Before painting they power washed the whole house and driveway. Then painted first by spray and then a brushed and rolled on coat to assure good coverage. Again, the team was friendly, professional, and used quality products. They were happy to fix and or remove outdated items from the house. The painter cheerfully came back after it was completed to remove an overlooked item or two and to do some extra items we had agreed to after the initial plan.

The gutter team was also prompt, professional and accomplished their installation quickly. They came back to address a small concern I had and adjusted the problem I had been concerned about.

The best part for me personally was a door to the garage that stuck and was difficult to open all the time and no one had been able to fix it properly. Frank, the supervisor, personally fixed it so it opens and shut easily. It was a halleluiah! moment after years of suffering the inconvenience!

Southwestern Roofing is highly recommended by me and other my senior citizen friends that I have referred to them. They are delighted with the work and the customer care they received.

Esteban and his team are awesome. Extremely trustworthy and honest. Extremely hard to find great contractors.

We have hired SWR three times. They built a attached patio to our home; you can't tell it was an additional since they did a fantastic job flushing roof to existing roof.

They replaced our roof and painted entire house- so many compliments from our neighbors.

Last project was replacing some roof flutes that squirrels had chewed. So fast and professional

Fair prices- they are very competitive

Wish they were in Dallas to help my mom out at her.

I hired these guys for a new roof, exterior painting and a new concrete patio in the back yard. The roofing went OK aside from leaving trash in my yard. The painting was a nightmare. Estevan completely misquoted me and kept trying to get me to pay more money for things that definitely should have been included, like shutters and trim around the back door and patio. I guess he must have lost money on the painter because he completely ghosted me on the patio. Haven't heard anything from him in a month and won't return calls. Buyer beware and pay close attention to the estimate. Included every detail you can possibly think of.

I hired Southwestern Roofing for exterior painting after seeing the professional results performed on my neighbor's house. They were always friendly, on-time, and always wore a mask. They fixed more than they estimated, but held firm to the quote. The work was very professionally done. I would use them again.

I almost didn't hire these guys after reading the reviews, but I finally decided that the recommendation of a neighbor in the rental business was worth a lot more than the condemnation of a handful of strangers -- especially when you look at the dates and realize most of them are whining about getting a roofer at their beck-and-call after a hurricane!

Esteban and the entire crew (must have been 15 of them!) were extremely professional, courteous, and efficient. In two days, it was done, including carpentry repairs required by the lousy leaky roof on my carport, which was only 8 years old. They worked until after dark both days, and not only cleaned up in the dark, they even cleaned my gutters and re-installed my gutter screens!

The materials used were top-notch (lifetime warranty), and Esteban specified rubberized under-layment in many places where the original roofers had used tar paper.

Despite some unforeseen repairs to the decking on my patio cover (also only 8 yrs old!), the bill was exactly as quoted. Esteban thought they could have done a better job of cleanup (in the dark!), and he sent a guy, who spent an hour the next day making it perfect.

I hate writing reviews, but it's so rare to find a conscientious contractor, that I felt someone should add some balance to the whiners.

If you need a roof, hire these guys, and ask for Esteban!

We had Southwestern replace our entire roof two years ago and all seemed fine until I noticed water on my kitchen island. I looked up at the ceiling only to see a huge wet spot and water in my light! My husband went up in the attic and the hot water heater was fine. We finally realized that it was a pipe in the attic that they disconnected and failed to reconnect. We reached out to Esteban Trevino, the superintendent, who informed us that they were too busy to assist during our emergency. He stated that it would be at least three weeks before he could have anyone come out to look. Due to the urgency of the situation, we had no other course of action other than to call out a plumber, who informed us that the roofers caused the issue. He charged us over $200 for the repair and we submitted the invoice to Esteban for reimbursement but have yet to hear any response. That has been almost 9 months and we have had no reply. We would have recommended them prior to their lack of follow up and the rude response.

We have used Southwestern Roofing for multiple jobs including a new roof, large custom built second floor deck with a waterproof patio underneath and recently we've hired the company to remove aging stucco, replacing with Hardy Plank and paint our home. I see experienced precision with every angle cut and each day the workers clean up before they leave and the cost for every project has been reasonable. I recommend this company when you're looking for a professional job to be completed.

We had a new roof in 2014. We received so many compliments on the roof. Our neighbors wanted the same roof on their houses. Esteban took care of us. We sold that house in 2017 and now need a new roof at the new house. I called Austin at SWR and he had to load an old system, looked up the type of shingle, how many squares, and even took the time to explain what to expect on the new roof. Awesome customer service! I wish SWR could roof our new house but they don't do work in the area we moved to. Highly recommended! Thank you Austin.

WARNING ! WARNING ! WARNING ! Some of the people this company hires are NOT bonded or insured. I found out the hard way. My wife and I are now both disabled and we are very poor because our many medical bills. A few years ago the contract labor truck driver that Southwester Roofing employed, backed over the front of our only car with their flatbed truck loaded with lumber, crushing it down onto the frame. The driver then started to drive off, but I got out of my care and stood in front of his truck to stop him because he didn't understand English when I told him what he did.. The contract laborer's foreman showed up a short time later and offered me some cash to forget the wreck. I declined. He then promised that his boss, the owner of Southwestern Roofing, would take care of everything and asked me not to call the police. The driver of the flatbed truck had no license(only a green card), spoke no English, and I was later told they had no insurance because this contract labor company had so many wrecks that the insurance company would no longer insure them. Since the driver was under contract with Southwestern Roofing, I contacted Southwestern Roofing and spoke to the owner. I then met with the owner who said he would only put a used hood on my our car, and a friend of his would paint it, and nothing more...but there was far more damage to the car...and I had estimates to prove it. His response was that I should take his offer or, ""you will have to deal with a MEXICAN."" I then went a second time to his company to talk to him and this time noticed a big Christian fish symbol on the front door. What a joke! He was not available, but when I told one of his employees they should scrape that fish off the front door, I was told all about the ""good Christian man"" he was and how he donated $16,000 to the church. Well Vince, we all die and one day when you do, be sure to remind God about that $16,000 you bragged to your employee about donating and see if that is enough to buy your way into heaven. By the way, God may ask you about that poor couple who's car you were responsible for repairing and offered little more than a racist comment in response. I had totally put the memory of you out of my mind until my roof was damaged and I was attempting to figure out a way to afford to fix it and was Google searching for roofing quotes and saw Southwestern Roofing. I had long ago thought about protesting with a sign out in front of your store, but I am too busy trying to earn enough to keep medical bills and insurance paid so I can keep my wife alive. I was never able to repair my car, but years later God provided someone who was nice enough to give us a used vehicle. James G., Houston, Texas
