I had a disappointing experience with Southern Restoration. My commercial building had stucco panels near the roof that had been blown off by wind damage, leaving a large hole in the side. At the time I signed the contract with Southern, I asked how long the repair would take and was told it would be finished within two weeks of getting agreement from the insurance company. Three weeks later nothing had even been submitted to the insurance company.

I spoke with a different company at this point that said they could start right away, so I asked Southern to cancel. They did some checking and then promised that they would be able to have a crew out the following Monday and would absolutely be finished by Friday. I did sign a contract with them, so I thought I should give them another chance.

Turns out they didn't show up at all that following week. On Wednesday I called and texted them several times to inquire and they never answered or got back to me. At the end of the day that Wednesday, when it was past the point that they could have the job finished when they promised, I texted requesting to cancel. That was two weeks ago and I didn't hear anything from them until today, when I got an invoice for a $1500 cancellation fee.

I do not recommend them. If you use them I would strongly suggest that you get timelines in writing ahead of time and have language added to the contract voiding the cancellation fee if they don't meet their commitments.

We contracted for a small standing seam metal roof job. Two of our neighbors have the roof on their garage overhangs that we wanted, so there were two actual examples we showed Alex when he came to do the estimate. Despite showing Alex our neighbors roofs, the first roof was installed incorrectly. Southern Restoration had to come back and install it correctly. A different crew installed the roof the second time. While the sub was on the ladder, it completely collasped sending the subs tools onto the roof and the worker onto the ground. After Orvis, Southern Restorations project manager, determined the sub was okay, he went back to completing the roof. We were asked to come inspect the roof when it was done and that's when I saw a panel of our garage had been dented by the collasping ladder. My husband was able to fix it while Orvis stood by. The sub, hosed down the metal roof after the work was complete because it was so dirty, you couldn't see anything. We told Orvis it seemed to look okay from the ground but we were assured if we saw anything after he left, just to let them know because everything about the sub falling had been documented.

When my husband went to replace the siding that had been broken during the roof installation, that's when we noticed the scratches on one panel in particular. We notified Southern Restoration. Long story short, I received an email from Alex stating everything had been done to our satisfaction and Southern Restoration did not cause the scratches. Conversely what that says is, my husand or I caused the scratches, which of course we did not.

We were very patient when Southern Restoration installed the roof wrong the first time. They came back to reinstall it, but of course, we still had 50% of the agreed upon money. This time with the scratches, they have all of their money, so no need to take responsibility. The offer we received from Alex is I can get a paint pen from Jet Metals in Rock Hill.

The lesson here is Southern Restoration does not operate in good faith. I should not have paid the final balance until I had gone up on a ladder to look at the completed work. I took Orvis at his word when he said if we found anything after they left, just to let them know and I shouldn't have done that.

It was a very disappointing experience. I learned an expensive lesson. I definitely would not recommend Southern Restoration, Inc.

I wish I could leave 10 stars for Southern Restoration Inc. Andy took excellent care of us! He kept us informed at every step. Even provided before and after pictures of the roofing repair. Super friendly and punctual. I will defiantly be using Southern Restoration Inc for any future roofing repair. I would highly recommend! Thank you so much!
