A representative, Brad, showed up and spent 2 hours talking about how he was going to do the roof. We never got an estimate. The home company never sent one and didn't call us back. Brad told my daughter that people call for estimates but he was tired of giving written estimates. Guess he thought we were one of those families. He was so wrong. What a waste of time.
I do NOT recommend this company. There are companies that really want the work and are reliable. This is not one of them.

As my roof was leaking I called various roofers. Some came, others did not. Soleil roofing was working a few houses down and were doing some great work. Sorin was supervising them and immediately sent a guy down to patch my roof until he could do the job. They were fast, gave me a great price and I am ever so grateful. Do yourself a favor and hire these very professional roofers. You will sleep well at night. I have a beautiful new roof.

8 years ago I got a roof installed by Soleil roofing via an adjustor Larry Thurman.
Unbeknown to me, the roof was never installed properly and it has been leaking for the past eight years. When I called Soleil, the owner, was rude and told me he had nothing to do with the adjuster and pretty much hung up on me. Now their shoddy work is costing me 5k in repairs. Clearly he had no idea how to install a metal roof. If you had a metal roof installed during this time with him, I suggest you get it checked.

This was one of the most annoying experiences in my life, I had no idea finding a roofer was like shopping for a reliable used car on NW 79th st in Miami.

But I had no choice, I was sick of water leaks after heavy rain fall. I was sick of patching my roof with roof sealant and I was sick of having to use paint primer to cover the water damage on the ceiling.

Searching on Yelp was little to no help as almost every roofing company listed either had no reviews or a few obviously fake reviews. But there were a couple of places with negative reviews.

I started calling some places for roof estimates and was left with quite an impression with the individuals who showed up at my door.

Some dudes showed up at my house looking like they were on their way to a dive bar. Worse a few of them had no fixed business address while asking me for a 33% cash deposit, telling me they'll pop up to do the work when they get the roof permit, ya right buddy.

I guess they conveniently never heard of Square processing.

Then I encountered a few ""small companies"" with fixed business addresses wanting to charge me an extra 3% to use my credit card plus an average of $2000 more than the others.

These are some of the Company's I called:

    Terms:
    - Open contract : means you can incur more cost's.
    - Closed contract : means your quoted cost is your final cost.

ALLIED ROOFING (Fixed address) - Sales rep came out and talked a bunch of crap about they are not the most expensive, nor are they a ""fly by night"" company. Dude didn't leave me a price, but e-mailed the quote later. But I misplaced the e-mail and even after I called them to re send the quote they didn't send the e-mail.

So I have no idea what the estimate was, but the sales rep seemed more inclined to talk about other anonymous company's rather than Allied or the re-roofing my house needed.

TIGER TEAM (Fixed Address) *Open Contract* - They weren't that bad, I wasn't home when they did the estimate, but they quoted me $10,581.00 with a 2.5% fee to use a credit card.

They also offered 100 linear feet of free plywood to replace rotting or soft wood. It will cost an additional $60.00 per plywood sheet installed beyond the 100 linear feet.

KELLER ROOFING (no Fixed address) *Open Contract* - This is a family run business. The sales rep was the Patriarch of the business and he quoted me $9950.00 with 100 free linear feet of plywood. I can't remember what the price for extra plywood was.

What pissed me off with this dude was we had a random conversation and he was gleefully boasting that he was a republican. I'm like wait a minute these A-hole republicans have been ""illegally"" forcing South Floridians off of Citizens Insurance and doubling if not tripling our insurance rates. There is no way I'm giving this fruit bat a penny of my money.

JOSE JOSE ROOFING (no fixed address) *Closed Contract*- Dude quoted me $8900 but wanted me to fork out $500 in cash until he showed up for the first days work. I'm not doing that. I inspected some of his prior work and I was not really impressed either.

SOLEIL ROOFING (fixed address) *Closed Contract* - This is the contractor I actually chose. The owner Sorin quoted me $7200 with no deposit up front, he only asked for 50% when materials were delivered on the first day of work. 100% of all rotten wood was to be removed and replaced.

-8 year warranty on labor & workmanship.

Sorin was professional and explained all of the questions I had asked. When I hired him I told him I wanted no smoking, no uncouth behavior and I wanted my house to look exactly the way it did before he started the work.

He also didn't charge me extra to install 3 air vents which has cooled down my house drastically from the summer humidity, saving me a bundle on my electric bill.

During the work there was no smoking and all of the workers behaved in a civilized manner.

4 days later I had my new roof, all of the debris nails were removed. They used some kind of magnetic lawn mower mechanism to extract all nails & pieces of metal etc from the grass. bit.ly/1DRFOqa bit.ly/1DRFSGs

    CONCLUSION:

I didn't choose Soleil because of the price, I chose Soleil because of the presentation, a closed contract and based on his previous work I inspected.

During this journey I was quoted from $13,000 to what I paid $7200 to re-roof my house, it's obvious that in many cases these dudes are just coming up with prices based on your appearance or where you live. So I would definitely shop around and get at least 5 or more price estimates.

I advise anyone who hires a roofer to make sure they agree to fix anything they break, trust me with all of the things being thrown around and people moving something is going to be damaged.

I had two above ground sprinkler heads broken as well as my garage security light pulled out of the concrete. I fixed all these myself as I am quite a handy man.

Would I recommend Soleil roofing, most definitely!
