I just finished getting my Solar working. I worked with Jason McCormick as the sales person and Connie Christensen was the project manager. My roof had been rejected by SolarCity, SunSolar and others. My roof was not correct for their style of Solar panels. Petersen Dean found an option and worked with me to resolve any issues. I have 8 panels divided by 3 one one part of the roof and 5 on the other part. Jason and Connie kept me informed about each step and how long it would take and what to expect. The last 2 steps were not in their control: Culver City inspector and SCE, but they were handled very quickly. From the start to the end, it took about 2 months. The process was seamless. The equipment is American made and rated top quality.
I recommend to everyone to get a quote from Petersen Dean. They keep the cost down by working with you over the phone and over the internet (e-mail). A technician came out once the design was made to make sure it would work and the laws were followed. He tested the sun strength. The technician who tested the system showed me that it was doing better than expected. I expect that number to go down in the Winter months. If you want to purchase the solar panels (and there are many reasons to do so), call them.

My 1st review on Yelp. Brian, Amber, and the installation crew did an amazing job. Will recommend this company to friends and family.

We could not be happier with Peterson Dean. They installed our solar system quickly, efficiently and with great attention to detail. We were informed of every cost, details and changes before and after.
We HIGHLY recommend Peterson Dean to anyone interested in solar power.
Our many thanks to Peterson Dean for a job well done.

System: 8K system including inverters and panel upgrade.
I interviewed several install companies including Sun City, Varengo, Sun Power and some independent contractors. I decided on Peterson Dean because of the following:
-They are roofers. I have had roofing issues in the past and you will have 4-6 people walking around on your roof, you need to know they won't damage it
-In the future if you re-roof (I will in about 10 years) they will remove and replace the solar for free as part of the job
-They use the best equipment
-They have highly trained installers
-I have a metal roof. This is very delicate to work with, Peterson Dean had no issue with this
-Warranty on the solar system, install, inverters, panels and my roof are top of the line
-Excellent ratings on yelp
Pros:
-Install team - sharp, well trained, native English speakers, roofers (everyone on my team was a roof guy), Excellent design (their drawings for submission to the HOA were perfect and technically complete), excellent customer service, left my yard and house clean
-Great job on electrical, they upgraded my panel and it was a very clean job including the wiring AND the stucco work and paint
-Equipment - their panels are first class as are the inverters and other gear
-Installation - every panel is flush and level, every wire and tube was custom bent to follow the curves of my house, every piece was painted to match the trim or the house color depending on where it was mounted
-Work with permitting and working with my personal contractor. Both were done professionally and quickly.
-Entire system installed in one day
Cons:
-Price - they are not the cheapest. Independents are definitely much cheaper. I believe you get what you pay for. This is something that likely takes 8-10 years just to pay for itself so service/warranty and support may become critical. With independents they may be here in a year or may not. With this size of investment it was important for me to have support and repair if ever needed.

Brad Schmidt at Petersen Dean is an excellent salesperson at Petersen Dean. The options where clearly spelled out and as well as monitoring our needs for solar. We weren't pressured to make a decision and the warranty service that Petersen Dean are superior to others. With PD we have a 30 year warranty and we are using USA made parts. I wonder if the others smaller and larger companies will be around after the solar incentives run out. Even after the purchase, Brad continues answer questions and help out with our needs. It is so nice to see our meter going backwards. No question but to go with Petersen Dean! Tell him Mucho sent you.

Went with Petersen Dean based on Veteran's/Military Discount and technology (micro-inverters vs big box on the side of your house) that would address shade issues better. Tom Semark was the last of 4 Sales reps to come out and was the best prepared. I certainly liked his honesty in mentioning and quoting a possible main panel upgrade - fortunately it was not needed but none of the other Solar companies mentioned it so I would be willing to bet their customers had an unwelcome surprise if they needed it. Tom turned it over to Karyn Ellis and she managed the project very well and kept us informed at every step of the way. I like the way P-D does the project tracking - we were notified when we went from one stage/phase to the next and could track it online - no phone tag or emails back and forth.
Our survey showed we had roof tiles broken and missing and they were replaced as part of the project - P-D are licensed roofers so that part was included in the project and went smoothly - other solar installers may not be licensed roofers so you might have to juggle two contractors.
My neighbors went with the other companies and have the big inverters on the side of the house viewable from the street and their children say they can hear them humming - my wife and I said no way - we are glad we went with Petersen Dean!

I interviewed and received bids from 10 different solar companies. Tom Semark was by far the most prepared of all the sales people. He had the best understanding of the overall process and answered all our questions - a true professional. he has continued to stay in touch and provides updates with the recent PUC discussions regarding solar and the utility companies. During the process, follow-ups were always on time and thorough. Tom helped guide us the entire time. Jennifer Knupfer, our Project Manager, was also very professional and helped us navigate the path with SDGE. As with Tom andJennifer, the installation team were very professional and did an outstanding job. When solar is installed on your roof, nothing beats a top notch roofing company to ensure it is done right. I highly recommend Petersen Dean.

100% unacceptable service, or lack of it.
1. Made an appt. no one showed. No call. we called and they re-scheduled.
2. Someone finally came and quoted us $650 for minor repairs minus our original $150 inspection fee. We scheduled the work to be done.
3. Again, nobody shows up to do the work, nobody calls ... and we begin with the excuses. (car broke down, personal problems, etc...) We re-schedule.
4. And yet again, nobody shows up and nobody even calls!
So here we are with El Nino and no roof repairs.
The truth lies in the fact that evidently they are busy right now and don't need us. They have bigger jobs. But whats going to happen later on? If the same service person continued to be a ""no-show"" you would think they would send somebody else? But, nobody really cared. Joseph was fully aware of what was taking place.
Yes, we got our $150 back and yes a letter of apology came with it, after many words were exchanged. Should we have had all this aggravation and had it drag on for so long? Its now too late and we most likely will not be able to get anyone to come out. Never have I ever dealt with a company so very unreliable.

I contacted numerous Solar companies for a quote before I talked to Petersen Dean. I was not too impressed with many of the companies I spoke to, or the people representing those companies. When I contacted Petersen Dean I was helped by Gary Phillips of the inside sales team. He was awesome. No nonsense, didn't try to hard sell me. Just gave me straight answers. Of all the companies and people I spoke with Gary and Petersen Dean were the best. If your interested in solar power I suggest you give them a call.

Wanted to write a quick review of my PD solar installation. We chose PD after researching the locally available solar companies. We started the process back in July, got our pre-approval with the HERO program for financing and got 4 different quotes. PD and the salesman Doug Hein where thorough and honest on what the system could do and the true cost involved. Living in the city of Anaheim we applied for the grant and the project was contingent on our receiving the grant. The grant application window closed on September 30th, we received our letter of approval for the grant on October 28th and the system was installed on November 4th. The crew that PD sent out was professional, respectful and knowledgeable. They did all they could to make the installation as visually clean as possible. All that is left is the City inspector approval and Anaheim Power to approve it for grid connection. I look forward to my new power bills and my small contribution to reducing my carbon footprint. I wound not hesitate to use them again in the future.
