DO NOT USE THEM!!! WILL NEVER RECOMMEND PETERSEN DEAN!!! They did not fulfill the signed contract (roof, gutters & solar). After repeated calls, messages, emails and texts the roof was installed 6 months later but the permit was never finalized. Had to refile/close permit & use other contractors for gutter & solar installation at additional expense. Petersen-Dean violated rules of the California State License Contractor Board, made promises they knew would not be kept & took our payments in 2019 long before filing bankruptcy in June 2020... and using Covid as a lame excuse.

So here I am 6 months after my first review & 18 months after I signed the contract. I've just made my 9th loan payment on a $28k solar system for which the electrical upgrade never got done, so the panels aren't hooked up. Now they've filed bankruptcy.
What they've done (to many people) is against the law. Refer to page 11 of your solar contract at the bottom in bold, capital letters: IT IS AGAINST THE LAW FOR A CONTRACTOR TO COLLECT PAYMENT FOR WORK NOT YET COMPLETED, OR FOR MATERIALS NOT YET DELIVERED. HOWEVER, A CONTRACTOR MAY REQUIRE A DOWN PAYMENT.
Bankruptcy does not protect any company from criminal charges. At this point my only advice is GET. A. LAWYER. Class action, anyone?
My heart goes out to every single person who got sucked up in this who lost or is losing tens of thousands of dollars, as I am.
This makes me sick.

We contracted with Solar4America who's name was PetersenDean at the time to install a Tesla battery wall to provide electricity during power failures and fire season shutdowns. This was in July 2019.
We gave them a $1,000.00 deposit and were promised installation by September 2019. It is now June 26, 2020. almost a year and they have failed to install anything. In there contract it says that the $1,000.00 deposit will not be returned after they make their first initial visit to the site. They sent someone out to check us out within the first week or two and have not been back since. After almost a year of calling and being lied to about them coming out to install soon we have cancelled our order. We lost the $1,000.00 deposit.
They are the worst company we have ever dealt with. They are totally untrustworthy, disorganized and crooked.
Do yourself a favor and avoid doing any kind of business with them.

DANGER. Do not use this business. We started our solar project in July 2019 and they promised installation by November. Communication was great at first now the silence is deafening. We paid them over $10;000 so far and now they don't return emails or phone calls. Our quote was based on 2019 equipment and now our permits are expired so we will have to start the process from the beginning. The last message I received months ago said they have a huge backlog and they will get to our installation ""someday""
Now we will have to start a legal process to recoup our initial payments.

I first got in contact with PetersenDean in August of 2019, they were very quick in starting the process and followed up eagerly.. unfortunately before any permits were ever started, they got really busy. And seemed to no longer have time to get our solar started or installed. It's now 9 months later and no solar.. I've been calling multiple times a day trying to get it canceled and can't get anyone to call me back. I've only heard great things about this company and I was hopeful, but now I just want it to end so I can move forward.

PetersenDean does not pay their sub contractors. Our company has done several electrical panel upgrades on behalf of PetersenDean in order for them to do their solar projects. They have not paid us for the work despite having been paid in full by the homeowners. In our attempts to collect from them we have been given one excuse and stall tactic after another. We have discovered that there have been at least 14 claims on their bond from other sub contractors they have not paid, as well as multiple complaints on their license. This giant company is getting rich off the work of small family owned businesses like ours and not paying their bills.

DON'T USE THESE PEOPLE!!! THEY ARE A RIP OFF!! If I could put less than 1 star I would. I waited a year for them to complete a basic job on my roof, that the insurance had already paid for. Each time I called I was told, ""Wow I thought that was completed already."" I cannot believe the service i was given, and then on top of the spectacular screw up on their part, I received a bill that never should have been charged to me.
Save your money and go to someone else. They may be a company all over and have backing of a larger company, but they are horrible to work with. I still can't believe it took so long for them to get it done, and the fact that I had the frustration of having to contact them over and over, then get billed again!
Its unbelievable. DON'T USE THESE PEOPLE!!!!

We ordered the battery back up in May 2019 and as, of today February 2020 we have been told it takes time because there are people ahead of us or they are waiting for PGE to ok the project. And many, many, many leaving of messages that never get returned. I wish I read up on Peterson and Dean's battery back up service because it is a complete different than the solar department. We purchased their solar panels and we couldn't be happier so, one would think it would run the same with the battery back up product but, no it has been a nightmare. Do not buy Peterson and Dean's battery back up.

Steer clear of this company. They do NOT explain what you're purchasing, they do not stand behind their products, and they sell poor quality equipment. Just got our true up bill for our first year of having our solar system installed and...we owe PG&E. Turns out that if you have a battery PG&E can charge you a different rate. My in-laws have a very similar system without the battery and their true up bill showed a huge credit. Called PG&E this afternoon and they told me that it's because of the battery and that Petersen Dean should have explained. Seriously, stay away. You have been warned.

Most incompetent solar Contractor in the State. Ordered a solar system in on October 10th, 2018 and still have no solar system as of December 9th 2019 .
It took about 10 months to get the roof on. It took them over 2 months just to re-process a permit that they had to change because they changed their solar panel vendor.
Already paid them in full and now we are on the third solar install date in 2 weeks and we just got another cancellation even so there has been no rain at all since their last cancellation.
I have been in construction for 30+ years and never seen such as poorly managed contractor.
