A neighbor of mine had used them to replace their roof. Since we had a leak in ours, I called them as well. They told me I also had to replace my roof. I thought it was fishy that we both needed a new roof, so I got another quote. I was able to repair it for 10% of what a new roof would have cost. I would not trust them!

DEFEND YOUR BUSINESS AND HOW BUSY YOU WERE! Fine!! My ONLY POINT WAS; DO NOT SAY YOU'RE GOING TO DO SOMETHING AND NOT DO IT!! IT'S BAD BUSINESS!! IF YOU CANNOT COME THRU FOR SOMEONE OR MAKE A SCHEDULE APPT, THEN PICK UP THE DAMN PHONE AND CALL!! DONT SCHEDULE AN APPT FOR 9am MONDAY, AND DO A ""NO SHOW"" and NO PHONE CALL, AND NEVER RETURN MESSAGES LEFT! We are a business too, and you of all people would understand, time is money! I wasted time & money waiting for you because you said you'd be out! I was waiting and calling and waiting some more.
Write stuff down if you can't remember what you promised, because you lapsed on this one!

I'd like to start off by saying that the gentleman I spoke to on the phone about 4 - 5 times was very nice and seemed accommodating in the beginning. I believe his name was JP?? Anyway, he said they were busy the first time we spoke but he'd tried to move us up the list since we were local, and to contact him again in 2 weeks. I did so. He acted like we never spoke. He said the same line, about I'll move you up since you're local. Ok great. So when can you come out? Nothing was set in stone, just an approximation. It was Thursday. He asked that I'd give home a call on Monday. I did. I said I really need someone out here bc it's only getting worse and you have given me the confidence that you're gonna come through for me. He told me that the following Monday he'd send a guy out to inspect. We agreed upon 11am. He had the address and my number, plus the commercial property name. Never heard from him all day on Monday. Never saw a Roofer at the property. I called multiple times in the morning. Nothing. Then again at 2:30. They weren't answering the phones. I left a message. Where are you guys? I waited at the property for 2 hours, while trying to call. Still no answer. They close at 3:30 btw. That's a joke. Either way, my call was never returned. It's now Tuesday. No call. No answer on their line. Left a message again. Call never returned. Just don't over promise and under deliver. You wasted 3 + weeks of me waiting when I should've called someone else.
And don't comment for other users to read every time someone makes a negative remark. It's clearly true. Why would I go out of my way & spend all this time to speak bad about a business?!! You replying, only makes you look like to other Yelp users that you're in the wrong and rude. Also, a way to lose business.
For as long as your business has been around, your customer service should be better than that. They'd be ashamed of how you treat the customers now! Giving them a bad rep! And don't rely on the amount of years, because Yelp didn't exist back then!! Now people know the truth. Yelp can destroy a business quickly. Word of mouth is far more powerful than you know!

One of my guys put a hole in the roof at a job site downtown, John was out there an hour later getting me a quote. We agreed on everything and he had his guys out there the next morning and did a great job fixing it.

I stand by my review. You are not being truthful John and you can yell online all you want. I never threatened you at any time. I wrote my experience. I contacted the Contractors Board and told them all the facts, I have not exaggerated or made up any information. They advised me what to do and I'm doing just that. Would you like me to add the eventual response from the contractors license board that supervises you? I can do that. You never even bothered to return my phone call when I left your office a message regarding what the license board advised. I'm done responding to you. What is wonderful about yelp and Angie's list is that experiences such as mine can reach a large audience and no company or individual wants to be known as that guy who screwed around his customer. In my opinion, you are that guy.

Slater Roofing Company recently redid our flat roof. They gave us a straight forward bid and worked with our financial situation in completing the job. There are lots of different options available for flat roofs. The owner explained to me the benefits of each of the different systems and why he prefers to do a traditional ""hot mop"" to the very popular TPO systems that many are installing right now. I chose to go with the built up hot mop roof and I feel much better with El Nino coming that our roof will withstand the heavy rains that are expected.

I was very happy with the communication from the owner of the company, his foremen, and all the workers. They completed a pretty intensive job with a massive cleanup in under 4 days. No horrible mess left behind even though there is serious potential for that with sticky tar if the crew isn't conscientious.

To put it simply - we were very happy with the quality of the work and the way that the workers and owner treated us. We would recommend them to anyone.

Last month I had a section of my roof repaired--and it was a slightly complex situation: it was a flat addition (about 20'x25') connected to a peaked roof, with leaking/water damage straight through, with sagging ceiling, mold beginning, and so on. The roof needed to be replaced of course, but the ceiling also need replacement. It was an open ceiling, meaning the joists were exposed inside the room. John, the owner, was very honest and smart about the process, and suggested tongue and groove as the ceiling layer, and then the layers of roofing over it above. This was a little more money than plywood would have been, but it was a finished ceiling, and saved me from having to drywall. The whole thing looks just beautiful! He and his crew, from the very first estimate straight through to completion, were top notch on all accounts. Totally honest, pleasurable to work with, on time and clean. I bid 5 other roofing companies in LA and they were all within 10-15% of each other. I went with John (not the cheapest, about middle) because he clearly knew his business, was open and friendly, and is the current owner of a family business (his family) that's been going steady for about 100 years. They get my highest recommendation.

I have been a customer for this business for several years and would have recommended them to anyone with roofing problems. However, they are now under new management. I have found the owner JOHN FREUTEL to be extremely rude. They failed to send me a bid after promising to do so. Then I was told that they would go out to do a job they promised and I agreed upon. They never showed up to do the job and wanted to do a bigger job to charge me more money. In the meantime, my roof was leaking during the rain. This new management is unreliable, unprofessional, and rude. I would not recommend them for roofing service. I have deleted them from my phone book to call for roofing service.

Furthermore, I just had another roofing company look at my roof. They advised me that the leak is from the window sill and not from the roof. Slater roofing advised me that I needed a whole new roof and the amount was $12,500.00.

I give Slater Roof Company 5 stars because they installed a brand new roof, quickly efficiently with no headache, and at the lowest cost of 4 other companies bidding on the project. Our roof looks fantastic! And they cleaned up after they were done. They are simply the best! Thanks so much Slater!

I was pleasantly surprised by the professionalism of this company. They come exactly when they say not only for the estimate but for the actual work. They are reasonably priced and honest. They work efficiently and clean up after they are done. They fixed three roofs for me and time will tell if they did a good job but if their office worker, owner, and workers are any indication, I think we're in good shape. What a pleasure!

I had a great weathervane designed, and didn't know who to hire to mount it on our turret. I had heard excellent things about Slater Roof over the years, so I started with them. The experts they sent did a great job, were here early, and could not have been more pleasant. Laura, in the office, was also great with follow through.
