We recently realized we had a termite damage problem. Sammy from SJZ showed up on time to inspect our house structure. He professionally inspected the structure in the crawl space through an awkward entry area. He let us know our house was in good condition and no major work was needed. He showed us pictures and then shared us about the earthquake retrofit option. He shared the information very politely and did not try to sell us on something he also explained we did not need. Short version- WOW!
Loooong version- We had 3 estimates to remodel our kitchen and were about to pull the trigger with another contractor until i spoke to my cousin, who convinced us to meet with Sammy from SJZ first. Adding more storage was at the top of our list, and we thought we knew exactly what we wanted after meeting with the other contractors until we met with Sammy. Sammy's vision for our kitchen was a complete 180 from what we were set on, and we were having a hard time picturing what it would look like from a hand drawn sketch Sammy did on the spot. Our project was long overdue, but we reluctantly agreed to give Sammy a few days to come up with a proposal, and we scheduled a second appointment the following week. The next day, we get a call from Sammy, asking us if he could have his framer stop by and take a look in our attic. We agreed and assumed it had to do with the recessed lighting we wanted. Sammy called the day before our appointment to confirm and told my wife he had some exciting news for us. He surprised us by showing up with a 3D design of our kitchen we weren't expecting that blew us away. The only problem was the layout had a portion of the kitchen/living room common wall removed & we were already told by to other contractors that it was a load bearing wall and would cost $12-15k to remove, so that wasn't an option for us. Then Sammy asks us if we're ready for our surprise......Hugh? He tells us he had his framer look in our attic to see if that wall was load bearing and confirmed a large portion of the wall wasn't and said he could remove it for an additional $2,800. I'll let the pictures tell the rest of the story. Sammy, a sincere THANK YOU for ERVERYTHING you did from beginning to the champagne toast at the end! SjZ will be our 1 & only call next time & forever!

If you read my first review you know I was unhappy with Sammy when I wrote it. He's a great guy who is willing to do extras to make things work. Lack of communication was the only major issue. The gentlemen who did the work were friendly, professional and did quality work. Our kitchen is beautiful and was done in a timely manner.

Yes, it is possible to find a knowledgeable, responsive and honest contractor! We had a MAJOR plumbing issue, and I had two different contractors give two very different recommendations. A friend recommended Sammy, and he came to assess the issue the same day I called. His assessment was spot on, and although the repairs were out of his scope (unfortunately it required a sewer specialist), he quarterbacked the entire process including helping to get permits, etc to get the project done as quickly as possible. I HIGHLY recommend him, and he will be my first call for any future projects.

I went online to find a contractor to help with my ADU. Sammy was the only guy that came by that also owns the company and knew what was needed for the project. He was also the only guy who showed up with a truck and tools. I showed him the plans and he walked me through the details as he reviewed them. It took a little over 3 months and just rented it out. Hes ontime and makes things happen. When sammy says something he stands by his word. No surprise extra charges. Would recommend.

Sammy is amazong!! I found SJZ Construction on google and must say he was the most informative estimate that actually listened to my wants. Hid guys were professional polite cleaned up everyday at tbe end of the day and dis an amazing job. I had them completely remodel the first floor of my home. Kitchen, bathroom, flooring, lighting, paint, and windows. Very smooth process and fair in price. Happy I picked him out of the bunch.

Sammy worked with us on our needs, told us what was necessary, and what was vanity, and kept everything within budget. He did a fantastic job fixing our leaky roof, replacing windows, and remodeled our kitchen and bathrooms. Everything got fast and he really helped us find materials within our budget, including modern amenities and finishing touches. Sammy's attention to detail and expertise were unparalleled.
