After the heavy winds blowing through Huntington Beach our roof lost some of its tiles. I called several contractors and received a call back from Joe Shulman. He came out and went up on the roof and gave me an estimate. Within two days his crew came out and did the repairs. Very professional and a great clean up job. I will be using him in a few years again when we need to put a new roof on the house. Great people to work with with.

This review has been long overdue! We had half of our roof re-roofed in 2013. I'm happy to report that after two winters and a handful of heavy rains the roof has held up nicely - totally bone dry including the newly replaced skylight!

The entire process has been a breath of fresh air. We had a few different configurations in mind ranging from localized repair to re-roofing different combination of zones based on an aerial photo of our roof top. Joe was flexible enough to work with us and gave us quick quotes on the spot followed by detail contracts in email within hours. During the actual process, Joe was prompt to respond; gave us updates with before and after pictures. He even refunded us $200 since our roof didn't have any sheathing damages and put the refund towards upgrading our skylight. His crew - Dago (?) and his partner was punctual and professional. All in all we are very happy and would definitely have them re-roof the remaining half when the time comes.

With a big roof leak and a huge storm coming in a few days, I was in desperate need of a roofing repair company. I called four local companies and nobody returned my call except Joe Shulman. Before he called me he looked up my house on google street and satellite views and could see where on my tile roof the potential leak was. He asks me ""is the leak above your front door"" and I replied ""YES"". He explained to me that fixing just that area would be a temporary fix and the only professional way to fix it would be to re-tar paper the whole section where the leak was. This made perfect sense to me as I would have done it the same way ""if I knew how to do roofing"". His guys came out and got the tar paper down before the rain started Thursday night. They returned after the storm on Saturday and completed the job. I am very satisfied with the quality of work and price.

First off, this is not a review for work performed as work was not arranged.

I was very disappointed in the quotation process, which was only done by phone and not in person, and the quotation was to replace an entire section of roof for a small leak. The costs were extremely high, nearly 5 times what it actually cost me to have the repair completed by another company.

The recommended work was drastically more than what was actually necessary, and there wasn't a way to know the scope of work since there was not a physical inspection of the roof leak beforehand.

Joe is many things that other contractors aren't- punctual, honest, and reliable. He came out to fix my leaky chimney and did so quickly, and at a price that was in line with other quotes I had. I was satisfied after that visit, but what made his service really stand out for me was when I sprung a similar leak only 6 months later.

Joe came out again to get a tarp up right away. After the storm stopped he did a full evaluation of the issue, and went above and beyond to diagnose and rectify the issue. My family and I really appreciate the service, attention, and thoroughness that he and his team provided.

I contacted Schulman Roofing after getting a positive review from a recently re-roofed house in my neighborhood. Joe came out to look and explained the whole process, as well as breaking down the cost. I was impressed with the professionalism and decided to use Schulman. I needed a complete re-roof and once they got started the whole process took about six days. The old 1960's roof was off in a day and then the new roof started to go up. I was happy with the materials and process. Joe's guys were also great at accommodating me -- they replaced a few busted out eave vents upon request and also let me pre-prime some of the old facia boards they had to replace. The final product looks great and I couldn't be happier with the outcome. I highly recommend Schulman for any roof related work.

Joe Shulman was prompt in contacting us and thorough in options for a new roof. He gave us a list of homes we could see with various types/colors of roofs that might work for our house. In July work started--removing the old roof, redoing two flat top areas and installing new GAF Timberline shingles on the sloped portions. The job was completed in six days.
His crew worked diligently and cleaned up at the end of each work day. While we have not had any rain to ""test"" this roof, it looks solid and quite attractive.

I recently had solar panels installed and the solar company butchered my beautiful slate roof. I called a few roofing companies. Some companies called back claiming to have experience on slate roofs, but when they come out, it's evident they really don't know that much. Joe Shulman from Shulman roofing called me back the very same day. I explained my problem. He was honest enough to explain that he's had limited experience with slate roofs and didn't feel he would be the best person for the job. What's even more impressive, is that he took it upon himself to check with his roofing supplier(American Slate) to find out which roofing companies deal with slate. Joe actually called me back 2 days later with a couple of numbers! Needless to say I was not only impressed, but pleasantly surprised!
