Shadowfax Roofing re-roofed our house 8 years ago. At the same time they installed solar panels on our roof. Jerry and his team are
friendly people. They offered competitive quote and were very detail about the material used and work to be performed in their quotation.
They completed the work within schedule, and their workmanship is superb. Over the years, we did not experience major issue with our roof.
We had small leak around the air vent on the roof during the last winter storm, they came and fixed it for free. Last year, 4 of the
solar panels had output degraded. Jerry and his team spent time debugging and found issues with the panels. We were unable to file warranty
claim for the panels as the manufacturer had exited panel business. However, Jerry replaced 2 of the panels from his excess stock,
again free of charge.

I got ceiling leaks during Nov 2021's heavy raining sessions, hired Shadowfax to check for roof leaking. Two techs came but refused to go up to the roof. When I asked why, they told me they thought my house was a single story and did not bring the long ladder to go up to 2-story roof. The fact is, I passed my house info to the company at the time I contacted the them for the job.

Later I hired another company for the job, the first thing they did was to go up to the roof right away and found a missing tile and get it fixed, no more leaking.

I hired Shadowfax for roofing repair many years ago, this is the 2nd time and last for me.

Noticed a weird wet spot on one of the curtains in the master bedroom after the recent rain. Looked like there might be some water trails on the ceiling as well. We bought the house recently and don't know the age or make up of the roof.

Ben came out same day to inspect the issue. Very knowledgeable about roofs, roof care and maintenance. After checking the inside where we noticed the wet spot, he got up on the roof to take a closer look. Unfortunately (fortunately?), the roof appeared to be in good shape. While he was up there, he also cleaned off a few errant palm fronds, caulked a few nails, and took measurements for an estimate to install gutter screens too. Didn't charge for any of it. More rain might be coming on Sunday, so if it happens again, he said to just call him back.

Overall, I'm really impressed with the promptness and level of customer service. Would definitely recommend for any follow up roofing work.

Wanted a small local company to do both re-roofing and solar installation (so they'd integrate & stand behind both). Went with Shadowfax because some friends had a good roofing experience with them. And Luke had the best follow-up of the eight different estimators I had out (and seemed very honest & straightforward). They did a great job (with solid follow-through) on all the many interconnected steps (removing & replacing old roof & gutters, installing solar panels & electrical components, getting city permits & PG&E approval, etc...). And Luke overcame some obstacles to get me the exact panels I wanted, all fitting on my limited southern-exposure roof surface, and online before end of year for the tax credit.

Great experience with Shadowfax roofing and solar.
John gave us a quote to replace our roof. He was super friendly, knowledgeable and made me feel very comfortable. He was patient and explained all the costs in detail. The quote was very competitive and even one of the competitors said that Shadowfax was great so I knew we were on the right track. Got three quotes and Shadowfax was right in there slightly under the others. But it was their customer service that won me over. In fact, we decided to get BOTH our roof and solar from them. That was a great decision because they did such a great job and reduced my headaches of having to deal with two companies.
We met the owner Jerry a number of times. He has a friendly honest way about him. Meet him and you'll see what I'm saying. Felt totally confident he would take care of all my questions and concerns. And when your doing a roof, trust me there will be concerns. I was very happy every step of the way as they took care of my every need.

Our neighbor recommended Shadowfax to us after their roof was replaced recently. We weren't sure that our roof needed replacement, but asked them to look at it. Surprisingly, they praised the job our previous roofer had done and said we did not need a new roof! We knew that there were a few places that needed attention, so they arranged to fix and replace a cover over our back porch and ""tune up"" the existing roof in places that needed it. They started work a week later and came every day until the work was completed. (No ""demo and come back much later to finish"" scam like some contractors!). They came on time each morning and completely cleaned the area before leaving in the afternoon. Salesman John and worker Jesus were so honest and professional, it was actually a pleasure to write the check! Our highest recommendation for Shadowfax!

It's now June. I began getting roofing bids last August. I wanted to compare five for cost, references, and customer service. If they didn't return my call within a day when I was a potential customer, I knew, if there was a problem during the actual roofing, they might not respond.

Two roofers said they were too busy then to give me a bid. Those two care only about business now, and not business in the future. Bye Bye. I was down to three. If you want their names, ask and I will give them. One of the three did not have any references more recently than two years. Bye Bye. Down to two now.

I called all references from the two I got. Shadowfax also gave me the addresses of every roofing job they have done for many past years, and I drove all around looking at shingle colors, roof pitch, taking to people. The other company didn't have a list like that. Also, John, the salesperson from Shadowfax explained every material (it starts looking easy, but it isn't) and every warranty and answered all of my questions. I began to narrow down patterns and colors. I had an old cedar shingle roof, so I was going to switch to composition shingle. I already have plywood, so that cost was avoided. For the two last bids, they were only $140 apart in cost.

In the end. I decided to go with cedar shake again. The materials are far superior now than they were for the installation of my 25 year old roof. Super costly, and more than a Ford, but less than a Tesla, for sure. The pitch of my roof is very steep. Dangerous steep. I think one of the bids just didn't want to do my roof.

The workers showed up two weeks ago. I was so nervous about the noise, garden, damage, etc.

The demo took three days. It was such a mess, and so noisy! But, quiet at night. Every evening they cleaned up. The workers were very consciences and thoughtful. Every worker communicated clearly. During the installation, there were times that it sounded like a herd of horses on the roof. Very evening they cleaned up before they left. Customer care and customer service is obviously their priority.

One of the workers said that he felt roofing is an art form to him. Certainly, laying heavy cedar shake is an art form. I even saw him stand back from the house, look at the roof, and then go back up the ladder to the roof and make tiny adjustments. I have 10 skylights in my house and guesthouse, plus vents, so all that work was done perfectly as well, and everything was painted to blend in with everything else. Chimney braced. No damage to my new white rain gutters either. We soon relaxed about watching over them, since they were correcting things we didn't even notice. They never had to be asked twice to do anything and never forgot a commitment.

At the end, the cedar shakes were the right decision. Beautiful. Permit was signed off quickly.

I cannot say enough good things about how responsive Jerry (the owner) is and Pam in the office; Francisco the supervisor and all the workers. There was minor clean up at the end, the usual few nails and tags in the garden and some marks on one window that came off with a Mr. Eraser.

The workers, and everyone at Shadowfax. were not only professional, they were engaging. A high level of integrity.

I hope you choose Shadowfax as your roofer. I am happy, for sure, with my choice and the roof looks great. I'm glad the process is over, but I know going forward, if I have any roof issues, Shadowfax will respond quickly and professionally. They estimated my roof would take 10 days to finish, and they finished in 10 days.
