This is the best roofing company in Ventura County.
We had two very old roofs that had not been re-roofed for about 40 years.
Needless to say there was a lot of work and repairs. Many layers of old roof and tons of wood repair underneath.
Shadow Roofing got it done perfectly in a week and worked around the tenants. And afterwards cleaned up everything. And so many other extras like install two skylights and remove and throw away the old gutters.
They were just professional and I would recommend them 10/10

Professional, efficient, friendly, reliable, and did a fantastic job retiling our roof (just in time before the massive rain storm...). Highly recommended!

It always pains me leaving a less than great rating, but I am committed to maintaining integrity in my reviews.

As a first time homeowner, having to replace a roof is a hard pill to swallow. Initial interactions were with Manuel. He came out for the initial site review to provide a quote. I really appreciated his kindness and candor. We discussed all the likely work, costs and options for materials. We decided on the entry-level shingles as our roof is pretty simple, but with his recommendation opted for a small upgrade to the Solaris (cooler shingles). I appreciated the time he took flipping through the shingle brochure and explanations. Quote came in, which after deliberation accepted.

Here lies the first issue. The office worker emailed me to select a color for shingle and provided a link. I went back to the brochure and immediately identified the Solaris shingle Emanuel and I agreed on. The office worker replied back that my selection was an additional ~$1,000. Of course I called out the mistake but my claims fell on deaf ears. I could only advocate so much, but the deposit was made and we needed to move forward.

Installation day, the crew arrived on time and was very friendly. They didn't require much from me and just mentioned ""we clean up daily like you won't even notice we were here"". This was a 3.5 day project and each day they did a 'decent' job on their clean up externally. So far I have only stepped on one rusty roofing nail while walking on my lawn. The shocking part to me was the mess INSIDE in house. Maybe it's common sense(?) but being the first roof I have experienced being replaced, you think the roofing company would warn you about the MASSIVE amount of dirt and rocks which would saturate the home. Again, this wouldn't be mentioned but I feel a pre-installation conversation would have saved so much inconvenience.

A few days in the project, we notice the agreed wood work was being completed. This is great! What wasn't great was 1. The dozens of nails/screws protruding through the vaulted ceilings, many splitting the beams. Luckily, we called them out in time where they removed them before installing layers. Additionally, the placement of the new wood was far from consistent with the previous design. The crew wanted to cover existing conduit and their reason was ""we don't know what it looked like before the removal"". If this is ever an issue for a roofer, you would think they would take notes or photos prior. Then came our side door overhang. The damaged wood was removed, but rather than replacing, they choose in their own discretion to completely delete the overhang between the house and garage.

The last part of my experience was the worst part for me. Already the cost from original estimate to final bill was about $12k higher. Ouch. I got an email from the office worker that the workers would be completed in afternoon and requested I have a check handed to crew the moment they were done. Remember the dozens of nails/screws which penetrated our roof and into the living area? I called the office to inquire. There was no respect given, but rather I was faced with an unprofessional conversation where the office worker criticized me for attempting to ""renegotiate"" the completed contract. She (no joke) laughed at me. I'll post the photos I had sent her which she dismissed as ""normal"" consequences of the installation and not warranted by their company. It literally had to go to me denying immediate payment until I spoke with Emanuel.

He did call, and was sympathetic but it does not undo the unprofessional and condescending attitude of the front office worker. Many calls went unreturned, questions unanswered and no attempt at customer recovery. They charged me about $1k over agreed on shingles, installed less roof vents than agreed, made the experience a nightmare and my house saturated in rocks and dust. Next time, warn your customers to cover items. Would have made the post-installation experience much better.

Otherwise it looks good--I'll give them that.

** update. This was a 2 star review, but reduced as said office worker finds this review as ""Funny"". Spending over $30k, you think better customer service would be automatic. Go elsewhere!

This company is always responsive to their client's needs. Friendly, helpful, fair price and top quality workmanship. We have used them several times and each job was seamless regardless if it was maintenance, repairs or a RE-roof job. Thanks you Manuel and Erika for a job well done each and every time

Shadow roofing replaced the roof on our A-frame house in Oxnard recently. They were very prompt and reliable in coming to give us an estimate, scheduling the work and completing the work as planned. The worksite was well-organized and completely cleaned up at the end of the job. The office was efficient and responsive.

Our roof is 25 years old and has only had some leaks because of shoddy workmanship when we had some stuff installed on our roof. After repairing water damage and fixing the probable source of the leaks I was still so nervous about possible future damage that I decided to get quotes for a new roof. I read lots of great reviews online about Shadow Roofing and at the hardware store a couple of other customers recommended Shadow.

When I called Shadow Roofing I was impressed by how clear and organized this company is in all respects; they are great communicators. I was glad to make an appointment with them and looked forward to getting a quote for a new roof.

I was pretty darn impressed by Manuel from Shadow Roofing Company who just inspected our roof. His verdict: ""these are 50 year presidential shingles and you certainly don't need a new roof.""

He gave me very specific recommendations about fixing any suspect areas. As Manuel departed he said ""Call me if you have any problems.""

Shadow Roofing was recommended to me by a family friend who is also a contractor. From my first the first phone call to the last follow up after my project was completed they exceeded my expectations. The start date was a little further out than I had hoped, but that is a good sign when working with craftsmen in construction, it means that they are in demand because they are good at what they do.
Manual met with me and gave me the project options that I requested in his bid, without any of the high pressure sales tactics and up selling for additional services that the other project bidders had subjected me to. He was honest, open and plain speaking. He explained everything so that I would have enough information to make the best choice for me. The materials used were top notch and Certainteed was the brand that I preferred.
The crew that worked on my roof was professional, respectful, on time and tidy. They swept up everyday. The foreman was informative and very good about keeping me up to speed on everything that was going on.
That leads me to the best part of working with Shadow, the office manager Erika. She was terrific. She answered every question and concern that I had and if she didn't have the answer she found it and got back in touch with me ASAP. She even emailed pics of the projected appearance of the house with each different color roofing so that I could make the best choice. She made the entire process as easy as possible.
The roof looks great, any and all repairs were made, and the project was much less demanding and intrusive than I had expected.
In a nutshell, Shadow Roofing exceeded my expectations at a very fair price. I cannot thank them enough.

We had two companies bid our project. Shadow's proposal content was comparable to the other company, but their price was significantly lower. The staff was easy to work with from choosing a perfect roof color to bidding to project completion. We expected some repair work -- our house is 70 years old and had 5 layers of roofing in some areas -- and the price change for that work was beyond fair. Shadow's communication was prompt, clear, and courteous, and the crew was hardworking and polite. Our landscaping was respected and protected, and the work area was thoroughly cleaned up at the end of each day. Our new roof looks great. We highly recommend them.

What a great, unexpected experience I received at my home from Shadow Roofing. Manual was great and detail when I met him on the project. The team showed up the day of the job clean, professional, towing an out house so they didn't have to use my toilet, who does that? Clean quick job, will definitely only use them in the future.
