Recommended Customer Reviews

Great job from Semper Solaris. The crew of 3 young men were professional and meticulous. They arrived on time on the days they worked, which any homeowner can appreciate. Regular email updates helped us track progress. Most importantly, Semper pricing was the lowest of the quotes we received. I would definitely recommend.

Sandy Peisner had great customer service. He picked up all of my calls and answered any questions I had.

semper solaris is good on the front end when selling you their products and the products are fine. Where they completely fall short is their customer service which is horrible-non exinsistant. we have solar panels and the Tesla batteries and both stopped working and could not get anyone to answer a phone call and sat on hold for hours. after finally connecting via email which wasted several days they gave me an appointment 3 weeks later....I got a $900 bill and they tell me to wait 3 weeks and they are charging me $150 (minimum) for the service visit. awful experience and opposite of how responsive they are when selling you their products
I do NOT recommend them because they don't support what they sell
worst part is I had a few of my friends buy their products...

First of all, I don't know for sure that this is the right location to write this review, but I am located in San Lorenzo.
My home insurance company threatened to cancel our coverage if we didn't replace the roof, despite the roof inspection a year prior saying it had at least 5 years left on it. So we began looking at our options. We thought about going solar but it didn't make sense financially at the time, as most of our appliance run on gas and I don't have the funds to convert everything.
After getting 4 quotes spanning $12k-over $40k for our 1672 SF house, we settled on Semper Solaris because of the Owens Corning platinum warranty status, the reasonable $19k price tag, and the excellent pre-sales service. Plus, they were able to set us up with a low interest loan to cover the cost until my partner graduates from grad school. Michael, my point of contact, seemed honest and very detailed in answering all of my questions. He worked on a weekend to make sure everything went through on my timeline.
The actual installation was great! There was a massive heat wave but the guys still had everything done in 3 days- really more like 2 but there was some wait time for inspections. I did notice that some of the fascia paint had chipped off during the installation and, after many emails and phone call, I was able to get the guys to come back to repaint it. But in case this matters to you, Semper does not employ US veterans to do the actual roofing for my job as might be suggested by their advertising; they contracted another company to do the dirty work. The foreman, Faustino, was nice and hard working and proud of the fact that his whole crew was from Mexico.
However, there are 2 details that sour my experience, which make me recommend using them only with caution:
1. I was told that the interest rate for the loan would be 1.99% but that was changed to 3.99% when I called the credit union partner to apply. I have excellent credit so it wasn't due to that. Instead, the rep said that the rate would be lowered if I paid an additional fee that only Semper could tell me. When I called Michael, it seemed he knew about the additional fee which would've been at least another $1-2k. I declined to pay this and took the higher rate.
2. In getting other quotes, there was usually mention of how much wood replacement would be covered, with the lower quotes saying that this would be an additional cost and the more expensive quotes including the repair of some sections (up to 20-30% of the whole roof, but those guys did an ""inspection"" from the attic and said that there would have to be a lot of sheathing replaced. Michael answered my question about this by saying that the price quoted included $1k of wood replacement for the purpose of covering my bases in applying for a loan that would cover the total cost of the project, and that I could raise or lower the amount if desired. I was told that the amount would be refunded if not used. It seemed like a fair approach to have the loan cover some damage, so I signed the contract as is. This is the stupid part- I saw that the wood replacement was missing from the contract but signed it anyway, because I was busy working two jobs to literally put a roof on our house.
Fast forward to the project being finished without any wood needing to be replaced- I reached out to the project manager, Maksim, and Michael to request the $1k back and never got any reply. I've now sent probably 5 or 6 emails asking about this and requesting a final paid invoice for my insurance company. After many months, I finally got a response from Michael: ""There is no refund or check for your project as those cost's [sic] are allocated and used within the project as a credit and no to your loan as a dollar cost."" Meaning that the extra money I paid was allocated as profit because it wasn't used on my roof? I responded asking for clarification and am again being ignored. It's been over a month and a half since the last email so I'm writing this review to caution others, and maybe to get someone from the company to reach out and deal with this properly. I will update if they do so.
The roof looks good to the credit of the company that did the actual work, but I fell for their ploy of being and honorable, veteran owned and operated company and ended up feeling violated by salespeople.

Their customer service team and upper management have been horrible to work with. We chose them because of their veteran owned story, but we've had one problem after another for almost a year. We purchased our panels in April, and they were installed in May. We got our approval to operate the first week of June but didn't have up and running panels until the end of October because Semper didn't change them over and then had operating issues codify the system. Their customer service person said we would be refunded for the thousands of dollars we spent on PG&E because the panels should have been up and running, but they forgot to switch them over. Fast forward to January, upper management is now refusing to pay us back the money we lost, thinking that our panels were operating correctly.
For a company that stands for ""always faithful,"" they need to be more faithful to their customers and honor their word.

Tracy, do not blame 3rd parties for Semper Solaris incompetence and lack of customer service. My delay was not caused by a 3rd party. Semper Solaris needs to take responsibility for their inactions. The Corporate Account Executive is merely trying to buy my silence by offering me an insulting compensation amounts that do not begin to make things right for me given all the pain and suffering the company has caused. To date, no one has contacted me that I believe cares about my concerns or fixing the problems that I encountered. All they care about is removing the bad review.

The whole interaction during the second half of 2022 with Semper Solaris in Concord has been a mess. Our sales guy, Dimitri, was cordial but in the end the experience with trying to have a Tesla battery installed has left a bad taste in our mouths. Dimitri gave us a written quote for the whole job. Technicians were at our home on five to six different occasions to check and confirm that our electrical supply and main panel were adequate. They took the main panel cover off and took photos on multiple occasions. They confirmed we were good to go at the cost quoted. This process took months. With the written quote in hand and with Semper Solaris' encouragement, in good faith we signed up with a credit union they recommended and took out a loan to cover the cost of the job. After we'd done all this and waited months, at Christmas time they sent a document saying the job would now cost an extra $3500 because our panel was inadequate. This is a bait-and-switch tactic: we were given a price to get the sale but at the last minute and after we'd secured a loan, they dramatically increased the price. Semper Solaris needs to honor its written quote and install the unit as priced. We would recommend everyone avoid doing business with this company.

We have a Semper Solaris Solar System that continually malfunctions and it takes days to weeks before this company sends a repair person and the problem never gets fixed. Tonight there is something wrong after a PG&E power shut off and even though PG&E restored power we cannot access that power and we are in the dark. A circuit breaker related to the solar system is frozen in off position and this appears to be preventing us from having PG&E power work. We have been on the phone with Semper Solaris all day begging for help. We have been switched from one person to another and they are clueless as to what to do. They closed tonight without sending someone to help us and with no offer of help in the morning. How I wish we had contracted with someone else. If anyone out there can help us please do. We are the Friedman's 925-673-9800.

We were asked to update our review once we received our deposit back and I am doing that now. The woman who we ended up dealing with to get our deposit back is named Charice and she was quite pleasant and helpful and followed through on everything she said she would do. I did tell them I would not update my review until I received our deposit which seemed to be the primary concern, their review. I will say however, I believe Charice is from their corporate office in San Diego, and it was like night and day dealing with her down there compared to those in Concord. I personally give her a 5-star review, but the company is still a 1 star from our experience with the Concord office. Thank you Charice and it is unfortunate we did not get you from the beginning, you did what you said you would and in a very timely manner.

If you try and get a quote they are slow to respond. But once they call or text you expect several a day all week long for months at a time. Even after you tell them to stop calling you a different person from a slightly different phone number will start doing the same thing. Glad we didn't go with them and went truly local to our city with someone that actually lives here.
