After a bumpy start to the beginning of my Tesla Powerwall installation project with Semper Solaris, Cherise Hess took over my project and turned things around. My project was completed in a timely and professional manner once she got involved and I'm now a happy Semper Solaris customer.

I have been dealing with Semper solaris regarding roof leak from solar panels they installed. They are great for new work. But it took 5 months for last years roof leak to get someone out to fix it. Now same spot is leaking. Great customer service representatives when you speak to them. But getting the job done is another matter. I got out side bids to fix the roof with in a week of calling . No I definitely would not use or recommend them.

I posted a highly negative review here a week ago which got a prompt response from someone called Garrett who took my contact information and promised that someone would get in touch soon. Ha. They made a mistake in the installation and do not want to stand behind their work so they just make it hard to reach them. Garrett do you exist? Does anyone at Semper care about customer service?

The installers did a great job with both the panels and the battery. BUT dealing with the salesman and the office have been hell. After I signed the contract the salesman disappeared. No phone or email contact. Dealing with the office has been just as bad. And now almost a year later after the inspections were signed off, they took money out of my checking account without notice. When I called them on it they claimed it was a valid charge and never explained why I was not given notice ahead of time as I was told I would be. They are very shady and poor on communication. I expect their bot to respond to this saying someone will get ahold of me. Don't bother, I've contacted my bank and told them to decline any further charges.

This company has a customer service problem and the left hand of the company does not know what the right hand is doing. The sales person seemed nice and we verbally discussed what I wanted in the system, specifically to monitor/track the generation of electricity and the amount used. They hire subcontractors to install the solar system. The install appointment date came and no one showed up. I called the project manger and she said she did not see the appointment and no one would be showing up that day and she would have to find installers and set up a date for another time. On the second appointment date the install seemed to go fine. The city inspection did not pass the first time there was a piece of equipment which was a different ampage than what was in the design submitted to the city, but they put in a lower ampage equipment piece, and it passed the second inspection. The Enphase solar system sent monthly emails to show generation vs consumption.
I have had repair techs out a few times and when I follow up with them, there are no notes or no answer, or the person has quit, and the company has to try to do research to try and answer my questions.
My main problem now is that a technician went out and made changes to the system in November. He did not tell me exactly why he wanted to look at my system except that he thought things had been installed wrong and they were having problems communicating with the system. We talked a second time and the tech said that there was not enough room where the system was installed and it was done wrong and he would have to talk to the company to figure out how to fix it and be authorized more time to work on it. He never got back to me after that even though I contacted him and left a message. I found out the technician no longer works for Semper Solaris. Also- since that tech worked on the system I can no longer track the consumption and generation of power as it is not showing up on the Enphase email report anymore.
I have been trying to resolve this since November and now it is the beginning of February. I have talked to several customer service people.
The last one seems to be trying to resolve it but it is taking a long time. She has photos from the install showing the piece of equipment for monitoring/tracking consumption was installed. Now it seems it may have been removed and they are telling me it costs extra money to have that installed (??- It was installed and I want it to work- I think the last tech removed it because he did not know how to fix the problem or was not authorized extra time to work on it and fix it).
I find this company frustrating to work with. Dealing with different people every time I call and not all of them making notes in the call log so they have no idea what to say to me is frustrating. Or they say they will get back to me and do not.
The company needs to fix how things are worked on, tracked and keep a really good log for each client. Perhaps they should have their own employees install the systems and not use subcontractors.
AS I said, the last customer service person, she seems like she is trying to help, and she has talked to me three times on the phone and sent an email with an update that she was still looking into it. She seems to be helping me (unlike others) so I hope she can fix it. Hence why I gave 1 star instead of 0. My neighbor told me to write this review to see if that would push the company to work on it quicker. I want the problem resolved quickly and to get my Enphase reports to again show me how much power my system makes and how much power is used in the house.
Update--now they say they never offered monitoring of consumption even though they installed the mechanical device that does that! They said I would have to contact Enphase to pay them to get it working to accurately monitor consumption of the electricity that is generated. Not happy!!!

A little over a year later and my roof is leaking, right under ten of the fifteen panels Semper installed. The roofing contractor who put a tarp over the leaking area -- and who will be installing a new roof later this year -- called the roofing repairs Semper did after the solar panel installation a ""hack job"". All I can say is don't buy the ""ooo-rah"" TV ad BS, and don't let these people near your roof.
I'm sure Semper will respond to this unflattering review. All I can say is, if you have to have a staffer who's job is to rebut bad review, your business is doing something wrong.

In January 2023, California NEM 3.0 was looming ahead and I was concerned about missing the opportunity to get solar panels and enjoy the benefits of NEM 2.0. I started a mad dash to get solar installed before that date. I started interviewing solar companies. At first blush it seemed that Semper Solaris had it together better than the two others I interviewed. The sales rep was responsive and answered my questions to my satisfaction. Plus it is a veteran owned company according to their advertisements. Why not use them. They did seem to cost more than the others, but I believe you get what you pay for. As long as they delivered as promised it would be worth it to me to have peace of mind.

After I signed the contract, my sales rep became more and more distant. I wasn't surprised since she got the contract, but she did claim she would keep in touch which did not happen. During our discussions I expressed concerns whether I have to include my roof as well. Grains were coming off my shingles, and that had not happened before. Semper Solaris inspected my roof and said it was fine. I have many years of life left on my roof. I thought great. Semper Solaris installation crew were fast, efficient and friendly. The project finished as planned. The permits took awhile, although that was really the City and not Semper's fault. I received an email from Semper Solaris on August 29, 2023 indicating my system was completed and operating. I qualified for NEM 2.0.

Around the date of September 13, I contacted Semper Solaris to indicate I lost a bunch of shingles after a wind storm. Two weeks after receiving correspondence my system was completed. I had never lost any shingles before and reiterated my concerns for my roof. Not until December (3 months after notifying them of my shingle loss) did I receive contact from Semper Solaris to inspect my roof. They had me agree that if Semper inspects my roof and determines that the damage is not caused by them, then it won't be under warranty and I would be charged $250. The timing of losing all those shingles a few months after they walked on my roof seemed more than coincidental, especially since before we ever started this project I continued expressed concerns about my roof. If my roof is healthy and I have lots of years left, I shouldn't have to fix shingles a few months after installation.

On December 13, the Semper Solaris crew inspected my roof and determined that they are not responsible. I am waiting for my $250 bill. Furthermore, they went on to say they can fix my roof and will provide an estimate. Despite the fact that I expressed my concerns before ever starting this project that I wanted to make sure my roof is ok and would last. Now I am forced to repair at the least and maybe something more at the most. Semper has indicated on my single family home, ranch style that all my ridge caps need to be replaced. They would fix it for $2,500. But they would offer me a 10% discount for $2,250. So with the original charge of $250 to come out and inspect my home, I'm back up to $2,500. Again, if my roof is in such peril, why didn't Semper tell me at the time and I could have addressed it at that point. But now not even six months later (3 months delay on their end) I am forced to consider replacing my ridge caps.

As I sit here and contemplate my options, if I had to do it all over again, I would have used a less expensive vendor and had my roof included in this process. To anybody else who wants to consider using Semper, I would think twice. There are too many other companies out there charging less and providing the same service. Also, getting an independent roofer to inspect your roof would be better than using Semper's all in one service. They have a vested interest here to navigate the sales cycle in their favor.

Buyer beware.

I used them several years back and liked my sun power panels. They did a good job and stand behind their work.

Semper Solaris installed Solar Panels on my roof and since installment the Lifetime roof has been leaking called several times to Semper Solaris and they send technicians who are ill equipped and do not bring enough materials to fix the issue. They have been out 4 times and every time their excuses are (either they do not have enough material or the person needs additional help. Every time I have to take days off from work so I could accommodate them. Upon calling the company the owners do not respond and the employees do not answer phones and even if they answer the phone call, they start making excuses. I have spoken to Rachel, Alexandra, Kristin and many others to no fix in site. Due to their negligence, I will now have to replace my entire roof which is a cost of over $25,000.

I will be also taking legal actions to recover my cost of replacing my roof and legal fees along with other damages .

I am also going to contact local news channels to come and see the work Semper Solaris has done and air their findings so no other persons are duped by this company and its owners John Almond and Kelly Shawhan.

I believe that they are in a business of giving bad name and reputation to our service men & women in armed forces by using their reputation as veteran owned.

My advise to future customers of this company not to do any business as some of the reviews posted are either paid or by their employees so please beware of this company.
