I found Semper through Yelp, interviewed a couple of different folks and decided to go with Semper Solaris because we had more confidence in the quality of the panels and the reputability of the company. I myself am a veteran and it was awesome to see the high caliber of veterans (and civilians) employed by this fine company. Our salesperson Bob King did a great job explaining the various equipment options to us and turned us into informed buyers. He also kept engaged throughout the process and was always available when we had a question. The install went smoothly and they coordinated with the roofing team effortlessly. We passed inspection with flying colors and are excited to stick it to the man!

Disclaimer: I am posting this review in both Los Angeles and Orange County because Bob, our sales consultant, is from LA, and the technicians were dispatched to the OC (where we live).

We started our solar search in August 2018. Out of almost a dozen companies that I got referrals for, I consulted with eight of them. Others no longer existed or wouldn't meet with me without both homeowners present - not something we could work with because I'm the ""people person"" and my husband does the background stuff (in-depth research, technical specifications, payment).

Right off the bat, Bob King left a great impression. While other company representatives came and did their jobs, Bob made me feel like I was meeting up with an old friend. He was amiable, knowledgeable, professional, and helpful. He was also patient with and even enjoyed the company of my overly curious housecat and energetic toddler, something that I truly appreciated. Even after we signed with Semper Solaris, Bob kept in touch through phone calls, e-mails, and text messages, and helped move me along the process.

Once I gathered up all the of quotes and offer details from all the companies, my husband reviewed the data and determined that he liked the Panasonic panels and its accompanying guarantee and warranty the most. Between Tesla and Semper Solaris, Semper Solaris had the best price. Other companies then tried to sell us their Panasonic panels at a matching rate, but I felt confident with Semper Solaris (while a few of the other companies felt... shady).

We signed with Semper Solaris at the end of August and scheduled our initial site visit for a couple weeks later. We then started work a little more than a month out. Every technician I worked with was a well trained, quality professional. They showed up on time, cared about the work, respected my home, and answered all my questions patiently and informatively - whether the questions were good or dumb.

After a week, we were at final inspection... This was where my biggest issue occurred. Per our contract, we ordered a 240v charger installed (for our EV). From my understanding of the contract, ALL WORK was to be permitted and inspected. The outlet, however, was neither permitted nor inspected. I was not informed of this until I asked about it the morning of final inspection (despite having inquired about it multiple times in my e-mails on the final design). I was further annoyed when they tried to collect the remaining balance of our contract after final inspection even though there was more work to be done (the outlet). We informed them that we were not paying for work that hadn't been completed and it wasn't an issue - they removed the cost of the outlet from the amount due and then we paid for the outlet after the installation was complete.

We were granted permission by SCE to turn on our system at the end of October. From when we signed the contract to when we turned on the power was a little over 8 weeks.

After we turned on the power, we encountered another snag. This time, it was regarding our monitoring software. We informed Semper Solaris immediately, but they ""wanted more data"" before they would confirm that the software wasn't reporting correctly. Once they confirmed the issue, they sent someone out to correct the problem. They resolved part of the problem, but software configuration issues remained and took another 3.5 weeks to resolve. Although I'm not sure what the problem was, Mike (O&M Support) stayed in close contact and worked with the supplier to get the issue resolved.

So, why 5 stars? Because for every hitch, snag, delay, or annoyance, and just as part of what they do, Semper Solaris went above and beyond to take care of us as a customer and human being. It's taken me this long to post a review because I'm still waiting on SCE to finish approving my SGIP rebate - Something that Semper Solaris did ALL the work on and continues to update based on the responses from SCE (which I get CC'd on). The quality of the products that Semper Solaris sells make it a good company. The quality of the work they do make it a great company. The quality of their employees make the company unforgettable - in the best way.

CONS: Didn't let me know that the charger wouldn't be permitted or inspected prior to final inspection, software configuration issues that took a few weeks to troubleshoot and resolve

The stellar reviews of the company was a big factor in my decision to choose Semper Solaris for my solar energy system. The cost quote was very fair. My salesperson, Bob King, had a good understanding of our current electrical system and assessed our current and future needs well. The crew was respectful, professional and considerate of our neighbors, which was very nice. The monitoring is great and I constantly use it to check the status and performance of my system.

We did some extensive research regarding solar. We ended up using Semper Solaris for our solar. I was happy with how fast everything was handled. They office called to check in with me every step of the way. Now that we are using our solar the main office is still checking to make sure I don't have any questions and that I understand how the system works. Overall I can not say enough good things about how everything went.

My husband & I did some extensive research regarding solar & interviewed multiple solar companies in our area. After all that work, we ended up using Semper Solaris like my brother previously used. He was right!!! What a great choice!!! This Monday before 8am, the Foreman Levi & all his crew were already outside our house. They were so sweet to wait till 8am to ring our doorbell. How thoughtful was that?!! Even though the weather was all gloomy, they were so professional & hardworking!!! They were already finished by today, Tuesday!!! 2days only!!! I'm so thankful for their immaculate work & their professionalism. The crew cleaned up all their trash & debris at the end of each day!!!

I used Semper Solaris for my roof/solar project in 2017. Bob King was my salesman and worked with me throughout the project to ensure everything went smoothly. The roof portion involved adding an attic fan and several additional roof vents/pips. Bob had me work directly with their head of roofing to design a vent solution capable of handling the required airflow for a newly installed whole house fan. The installation took a little time because of my requirements, but everything was completed as I specified. Afterwards, Semper Solaris responded quickly to a couple of tile changes and the roof has had no leaks over the past year.

The solar installation was quick and easy. Semper Solaris worked with my electrician to ensure I had the correct panel upgrade. The actual install took less than two days, and the system has worked flawlessly for the past year. My electric bill has been nothing more than the monthly service fee ($12) since the solar panels went online. In fact, I have accumulated a sizable credit with SCE, which ensures that I will have plenty of solar capacity as I increase future usage.

Bob has stayed in touch with me since the job was completed, and I would definitely recommend him and Semper Solaris to anyone interested in a new roof and/or solar panels.

i was introduced to Semper Solaris via their commercial on T.V. Robert Alva came to my home and provided me with all the information needed to make an informed decision. He was available through the entire process and answered every call. The installation was flawless and the crew cleaned up everything before they left.
