Kelly Shawhan, a former Captain in the U.S. Marine Corps, and has over 20 years of experience as a contractor. He graduated cum laude from Miami University of Ohio, commonly referred to as ""the Yale of the Midwest,"" where he received a full military scholarship. He was selected as a first alternate for the Olmsted scholarship, the military's equivalent of the Rhodes scholarship, he held numerous positions globally and was one of the few Marines selected to teach at the Army Artillery School in Ft. Sill, OK. After his military career, he has dedicated the last twenty years to construction, most recently serving as an energy expert in the solar field.
For 20 years, John Almond has been a key player in the business world, specializing in construction for over ten years. He redirected his attention to renewable energy, viewing it as the future and an ethical alignment with his abilities.

This company is NOT standing by their product! We paid a lot of money for a complete new roof. Less than 2 years later we have serious leaks. It was necessary to obtain help via a private restoration company who removed drywall, exposing wet wood with mold and installed driers with heat and fans. Repeated efforts to obtain help from Semper yelds nothing. If we hire someone to address this problem, our warranty is in jeopardy. Buyer beware!

This is the worst, most unresponsive company I've ever dealt with. I've been trying to get a refund from a service that was never performed since January 24, 2023. Today is March 9, 2023. I've spent countless hours on hold and have spoken with at least a dozen different people.

We had our Solar installed a year ago. Rhami is a very responsible sales. He clearly explained everything before the project started, and the installation was smoothly done with his help. Will recommend Semper Solaris to my friends.

Beware of doing business with this company, Semper Solaris. Semper sold me a Solar System 7 years ago and assured me that I would not have a power bill. The power panels were ""guaranteed 25 years"" and the guarantee covered equipment and performance. Semper was paid over $26,000.00 for their system and installation. We had little to zero power bills for 7 years as was promised us. Then at the end of the 7th year, the system stopped producing power at all and the SDG&E began escalating at about $500 per month. It was difficult to get Semper to send a technician as I had to actually go to their office to get their attention. Semper finally sent a tech who said the Sunpower panels were faulty and that Sunpower had to repair them. I called Sunpower and I was told that parts had to be ordered and there was no telling when they would be available. Furthermore, Sunpower said that another company would have to do the repair since they no longer did business with Semper. I went back to Semper since they sold the system, installed and warrantied it. Semper said they had a falling-out with Sunpower and Semper no longer used Sunpower products. Since, I have spoken with a Semper warranty rep who does nothing but placate me ""we're doing the best we can"". The Semper co-owner, John Almond, doesn't even respond and doesn't present himself even when I go to his office. So folks, this is what you can expect when buying a Semper product. A system that breaks down at the 7-year mark with no-one to honor their so-called 25-year warranty. And the SDG&E power bills continue to add up month after month. I'm going on 3 months of zero power now with no end in sight. Semper continues to advertise, sell and install systems and get these systems running producing power but they do nothing for you after they have your money. Good luck trying to get a timely repair. And you really don't know how these warranties work (or don't), until you have to use them. So Beware of this company and seek out another company. Hopefully, one that is truly Reputable and Faithful. Semper Solaris is neither.

This company is such a let down since it is a veteran ran company and being a veteran myself I want to support. I made a scheduled visit a week and a half ago and all they had was a Saturday at 6pm. I also run a company and moved all my jobs for my Sunday, which is normally my day off. They called me an hour before my appointment to cancel! Then they asked when I'm available, I said Monday afternoon, they said they need me to speak with a consultant. Such a waste of time. Thank you for wasting my whole Saturday!

I bought a 33K unit and so did my elderly parents, another 32K system. Unfortunately, they have had some issues for the past 18+ months with their unit. My father is 93 and mother in her 80s, and they have to slap the inverter to get their unit to work. They have had at least 6 techs come to their home and still no answer. Now their roof has a leak and the only person's on their roof since installation has been the Semper Solaris techs. ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND EXPERIENCE. I have called myself for them no less than 7 times over the past 60 days. Still no fix for their issue. Always assured that a call back will take place in the next 72hrs, never happens. The issue is their solar unit turns itself off every few hours and won't come back on without having to physically slap the unit. This method was taught to them by a Semper Solaris tech. I would stay away from Semper Solaris, they refuse to take responsibility and do what is right. They are taking advantage of an elderly couple that will now have to consider legal action to get the issue resolved.

We replaced 1/2 of our roof and had 12 solar panels installed on our home and Semper Solaris was super professional while providing expert workmanship and support through the entire process! Char Toledo was our singular point of contact from the initial sale all the way through our authorization to operate and activation. She was amazing. No matter when I contacted her, she usually responded within minutes and if she didn't already have the answer, she contacted project managers, schedulers, technicians, or whomever to get an answer with hours. Semper Solaris is a great company that takes care of their clients without compromise. If interested in solar panels, make sure you talk to Semper Solaris, and ask for Char!

I recommend reviewing all companies. I would not do business with Semper Solaris. It has been headache after headache. They are extremely responsive at the initial stages but if you have issues after they responsiveness is non existent. In addition the solar panels were not installed properly, administrative nightmare with the completion of the project. Do your reviews on other companies..... follow up service is horrible

One star too many. Worst company I've ever had to deal with. Installs an additional third powerwall in April 2022, during installation techs caused electrical damage to our pond thermostat and UV lamp, fried every outlet and bulbs in the garage because tech had common incorrectly connected. Could have burned down the place. That was repaired and they did take care of that.
In June the Tesla powerwall gateway shorted and melted, our entire house power went down. Called on Monday morning and their answer is that someone might be able to come out maybe on Wednesday?? three days without any power is okay by them?
Had to complain enough and take it to several levels at Semper for someone to actually come out that Monday to bypass their bad installation just so that we'd have electricity.
Semper senior tech discovered loose wiring again, took them three and a half months to replace the fried gateway, in the interim our 36 panel solar system also was bypassed and all this during the summer heat wave when we experienced several SDGE blackouts that should not have affected us... because... we have solar and powerwalls! Thus far cost us thousands in electric charges we should have avoided. After replacing the gateway discovered that the batteries are not charging properly or as designed. This was working before the gateway fried by the way. Endless call and emails and reprots at no avail, Semper blaming Tesla while Tesla is blaming Semper's installation. !2/19/22 Semper tech comes out, has not been briefed on the issues, gotta gude him through all the history because he had no clue, wastes my time arguing he can find anything wrong while admitting its not working correctly. After he leaves I discover that now the app, the one and only place one can monitor and adjust the batteries stopped working.
Asking for help to get this resolved on a daily basis and no one has even the common decency to return my calls or reply to my emails. I do however get regular perfunctory survey requests of ""how are we doing?"" or ""how satisfied are you with our agent?"" What??
No one at this company cares, will not get a reply, no updates for days and weeks on end. It has to be one of the most culturally toxic companies there ever was. As a US veteran myself I am deeply offended about their claim that they are ethical and better than their competitors claiming that their work ethics an loyalty to customers is somehow derived from someone over there haveing served in the the military. This pretty much and closely resembles shameful stolen valor, because someone over there managed to get through USMC boot camp. There is no reflection of military work ethic, customer loyalty or semper fidelis for that matter whatsoever.
Semper: Fix the issues once and for all if nothing else to save us the burden of seeking and retaining legal counsel. Asking nicely and having been patient for over 6 months with these latest issues hasn't been working

Had Tesla Powerwalls installed and worked with Rhami from Semper Solaris and had nothing but a positive experience from start to finish! Thank you!
