I just had my home re-roofing project completed to my great satisfaction by Semper Solaris. The whole process from contract negotiation to final project completion has been a smooth one. It was a pleasure working with Chase to come up with a contract for the project. Chase was easy-going but thorough and professional. He was patient and instrumental in drafting up a contract with fair prices that I can live with. The actual work of re-roofing was performed by a roofing sub-contractor. Alexis, the supervisor from the sub-contracting roofing company and his crew did a wonderful job of removing the old roof and putting on a new one. The whole job was completed on a timely manner and as promised. The crew also did a wonderful job of cleaning up my property after the project was completed. Andrew, the technician from a gutter sub-contracting company also did an efficient and wonderful job of building out the gutter system for my property. Even the color of the gutter matches the color of my house paint. Semper Solaris can definitely count me as one of their happy customers. Semper Solaris is also the contractor for my solar panel project. I am hopeful the solar panel team will do as good a job as the roofing team and I'll post a separate review after that project is completed.

Beware! Stay away! They installed my system and shortly after the monitoring stop working. It's been almost a year now of constant calls to them and them not returning my calls and no resolution. Bad customer service. Big waste of my time trying to get them to fix the monitoring.

I am going to start with saying that, as far as I can tell, we have an operational roof. We have yet to experience a rain, I will have to update again on full functionality at that time... Heads up, this is a long review - have a few things to get off my chest.... Long story short: Communication was subpar across the board, subcontractors were subpar, finished job was subpar, Accounting turning around an invoice was faster than usual :).... We started looking to replace our roof with the idea of possibly going solar - hence approaching Semper Solaris. It was ultimately decided that we would wait for solar, but still stuck with Semper Solaris due to the better than average reviews and the competitive pricing (not the cheapest but not the most expensive). We weren't having our entire roof done, so we estimated ~700 square feet was being done, and we were given 1-2 days for the completion of the project. Awesome! Until the job was actually a 2 week job. Not so awesome. First gripe, lack of communication among the Semper Solaris team... We had a leak in our garage with obvious water damage and rotted wood - shown to our sales rep as well as the surveyor that measured prior to the job starting. When our project manager claimed that that there were no notes on our file regarding the leak and wood we were confused - since that's the reason we moved forward with a new roof. SO they didn't address the wood and laid the new roof material over the crumbling wood. When alerted to the issue both the crew and our SS project manager stated that the wood was in good enough condition to take a nail, so it didn't need to be replaced - that's when my husband got on the roof and literally pulled the wood slats without any effort, splintering the rotted wood. Along communication lines, days and times of work being done were never given to us ahead of time. It was always me checking in with the project manager to make sure the work was going to get done. Second gripe, I understand that jobs are subcontracted but when a job is subcontracted to a group that siding and wood replacement is ""beyond the scope of their work"" (words from our Project Manager), it's a bad sign. Rather than getting a crew that COULD do the work, they spent 3 days replacing the wood and siding - multiple times over. When we went into the garage to see the work, we could see daylight coming through the walls - so we had a new roof, but now holes in our walls! super. Third gripe, the roof to wall flashing was an eyesore. It was definitely not installed properly, looked unfinished, screws and caulk everywhere and SLOPPY, 7"" flashing covering our attic vents. After multiple attempts at making it more ""aesthetically pleasing"" (our project manager's words), which was painting the flashing 3 times over, I guess we finally complained enough for them to come back and install different flashing (which was 3"" and installed completely different that the first times, mind you) and foamed inside our walls to get rid of that daylight seen from inside. We never received a follow up from our project manager regarding the completion of the project or checking in to see if all was good. And quite frankly we were just sick of the whole project to really care to push for anything else. But the accounting group sure was quick to get that invoice out to us!! Long story long, don't be afraid to voice when you don't think something is done appropriately or effectively. And don't settle for work that you KNOW isn't done right. And I wouldn't recommend Semper Solaris if you are a smaller project (or really ANY project)- but the smaller ones clearly don't receive the attention that a bigger $$$ project surely does.

The issues detailed in my previous review have bee resolved. Thanks to Kristine and other company employees, I'm fully satisfied with how they dealt with the situation. Sadly, and not the fault of Semper Solaris, there simply isn't software available that can provide alerts where the system stops producing electricity. Until that becomes available it is up to each system owner to take the time, on a regular basis, to monitor their system and make sure it is operating properly. This is not a big deal, just something you should periodically calendar and check online.

A solid company with good people...
Installation almost three years ago (with permits, HOA approval, customer-tutoring, etc.) was perfect. Tile roof was undamaged, no problems whatever.
Our system recently had an inverter failure, and the company replaced eleven (11, one short of a dozen) inverters with a later model, to reduce the risk of a future problem. That's proactive support!!
After three years, our system is more than a third paid for. That recovery will accelerate, due to anticipated SDG&E rate increases which are interesting -- but have no effect on our budget. Excellent!
This (Saturday!) morning, I sent the company an email with a technical question. Ten minutes later I got a call...

We used Semper Solaris and had 14 Panasonic solar panels installed. The process was easy and was on schedule. Paul the salesperson was knowledgeable and helpful getting the process started. Mark the project manager was on top of everything. Both Paul and Mark have great customer service and return calls and emails in a timely manner. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because of the service department. I had an issue with SolarEdge getting the password to connect and see how the panels were producing. I called the service number and was on hold and the recording kept saying how busy they are and to go online and fill out service requests for quicker response. I personally would rather speak to someone so I stayed on the line. No one ever answered and it eventually hung up on me. I went online and filled out requests. It took 4 days for the service department to get back to me. I called Mark and he took care of it right away. The service department has me a bit scared if anything happens but Paul and Mark make it work. I received a follow call from Lucia and her professionalism and assurance made it a 5 star

Updating my review based on a great response following my issues with my inverter going bad. They reached out within hours of my posting a poor yelp review and coordinated an appointment to replace the inverter. Again they showed great service, but still leaving them a star short for the equipment going bad less than a year after installation.

I am extremely unsatisfied with the experience we had in getting our Roof and Solar installed. Besides the fact that the Job was supposed to be done before the end of 2018 but took all the way until the end of May 2019, the way they have handled a billing issue that came up is beyond frustrating. I was told by Kevin, our sales person, that the framing repairs needed would be included in the roofing costs and that we would have no out of pocket expense for the repairs. When the job was done however, they have be pestering me daily for a $778 charge that was never discussed and have started threatening to go to collections for it. I have paid the bill but completely disagree that it was my responsibility and feel like they are holding me hostage with threats of collections and stating that my warranty is invalid until I pay the costs. Be warned that they do not uphold agreements that their sales people make when trying to get you to sign a contract.

Very happy with the entire process. Rhami was our sales rep. He explained everything and continued to be available to us during the time we waited for our solar permit. He prepared us for the different parts of the project and assisted us in getting us the best possible solar loan for our situation. He truly went above and beyond and we've referred him to our neighbor who also is getting a solar system thru him. The solar system was neatly installed with all of the electrical wires dropped into my attic. The crew was on time and finished the installation in 1 day. Pretty exciting to not have to pay SDGE $3,000 a year anymore. Yay!! Overall I highly recommend Rhami & Semper Solaris for your solar and roofing. Thanks!

Customer service seems to be a low priority. Our system stopped working over a week ago. There is no notification sent when it goes down, I noticed it a few days after the shut down. Then, after calling and getting only email responses that they would be in touch, no one was in touch. After calling to inquire when the service call would be, we were eventually given a date of July 9. Twelve days away when we're already over a week with no power generation. Who knows how long it will all take if they come out and then have to aquire new parts, as I fear the inverter may be shot. Obviously the priority is new installs, where the money is, as opposed to warranty work. Keep this in mind when you choose a company. It Would have been wise to get a contract provision stating what time frame to expect for warranty service calls. We're not happy customers today.
