Just want to give a shout out to Scudder Roofing.
We have had them both install a skylight a do 2 minor roof repairs. When we had a question about some moisture in the skylight, they were right there with a solution.
We like the fact that they do a honest job and don't resort to shortcuts or gimmicks.
All jobs were done in a timely manor and came in on budget
They pride themselves on being the best and we agree, they are.

Working with Scudder Roofing was my BEST experience ever with a contractor. After spending years remodeling the interior of our home, it was time to finally replace the original shake roof. My experience with the entire Scudder team was top notch.

Ray, the sales consultant not only made sure he stayed within my budget, but also brought samples out to my home and gave me referrals to homes to look at different colors so I could make an educated decision.

The install team was beyond professional. It just happened that one of the biggest storms in years occurred during my install. Carlos' team got the roof sealed completely prior to the storm and when the unexpected high winds hit on the weekend, Carlos was there at 6:30 AM on Saturday during the pouring rain to go up on the roof and make sure everything was still secure. He went up on the roof every day during the storm and they got the job complete as soon as it cleared up.

Scudder is a top notch professional company, from the admin team to the construction teams and I would highly recommend them!

We hired Scudder Roofing to replace our 26 year old fiberglass shingle roof for two reasons.

First, Scudder has a well deserved reputation for professional work and excellent customer satisfaction. Secondly we had a 13 year old Solar power array that had to be removed and reinstalled following our roof replacement. Many other roofers in our area claimed to do roofing and ""also"" would do solar. My wife and I wanted a ""one stop shop"" and Scudder was the obvious choice.

The roof replacement and the solar power array were replaced on time and at the cost quoted to us. Permits and fees for inspections were included in the quote. The workmanship was impeccable. All of the roof and solar division folks were professional, polite, and thorough in both their communications and their workmanship.

I would not hesitate to recommend Scudder to anyone who contemplating either roof or solar repairs or replacements. Their expertise in both areas is by far the best we could find in Monterey County.

I had 3 appointments to get an estimate. I waited at home and was never met. Poor business practices with no consideration of my time.

The first appointment was in the morning. I waited an hour. Nobody came. When I called, they said there had been an emergency and the didn't call me yet because they were thinking my appointment was in the afternoon.

The second appointment, someone called on the day of the appointment, prior to the appointment, and cancelled related to an emergency.

The third appointment, I called when they were an hour late. The accountant answered, didn't know anything, and said someone would call back in 5 minutes. 35 minutes later, I called again. Apparently the estimators flight the previous day had problems, so he wouldn't be at work the next day to meet me. Nobody bothered calling me to tell me.

Update and new review, don't see how to edit my old one. Once Pete Scudder and other executive type people were back from vacation, things went very professionally! There was timely followthrough, I was kept informed of what was happening and when. Work was completed this morning! Everyone was polite, professional and cleaned up after themselves daily. Thanks to Pete Scudder, Javier, and Santiago and the other young man from Cal Brushworks, and Jennifer for setting up. I will recommend your company now and in the future. Appreciate the professionalism!

I had Scudder reroof and install residential solar. The salesman was excellent. The coordination and execution was mediocre. The roofing and solar are two separate divisions that don't seem to communicate well with each other and neither with my general contractor so the project did not start on time and took longer than ideal. The work was, however well done and without a mess.

One of the best things I have done this year was to decide on hiring Scudder Roofing for my roof replacement project! I actually started getting estimates from various companies in my area LAST year. I was very impressed with Ray V. in that he never rushed nor pushed me into signing a contract. Nor, did Ray ever sound impatient with me when I followed-up and reached out to Scudder 8 months later!

Carlos Cortes was the foreman on my job. Carlos arrived EVERYDAY punctual, and with a smile on his face. Carlos works extremely hard, and did an excellent job on the carpentry work that needed to be done. I have had a zillion questions on this project, and each and every time, Carlos was courteous, respectful, and professional! Carlos definitely KNOWS what he is doing! If I could give him 10 stars I would! Roofing is such strenuous work, and each and every moment Carlo's service was SUPERIOR!

I cannot forget to mention the crew that was assigned to my job/project. They all work extremely hard, efficiently, and effectively. This crew seemed to watch over each other, which I was impressed with. Quality and good service starts from having a good management team, and hiring the right people who are qualified and skilled to perform the job. It also takes an excellent leader who can supervise and lead by example by being hands on and actually performing the work that needs to be done! This crew all worked very well together, and the end result is a beautiful roof, so I must commend them ALL for their professionalism and teamwork! They all made sure that at the completion of EVERY DAY, that they cleaned up afterwards.

And, of course Murphy's law would dictate that it would rain, and it did! But, REST ASSURED that Scudder will make sure that they ""tighten up"" and protect your investment. I received updates from both Carlos and Jen Scudder daily so that I knew what to expect. My house totally looks amazing, and most importantly, I feel my home is protected. Everyone at Scudder has been very friendly and went the extra mile for me and this project. Definitely worth the investment! I highly recommend this company!

RUDE, THIS PLACE IS A FRAUD!

Came out, did nothing, said they would return the following day to do the work, never heard from them. TWO MONTHS LATER, received a bill for $187, when I called to question it Jennifer Scudder actually ACCUSED MY MOTHER OF LYING about what happened when her roofer showed up!! She is unsure of what to do about the bill because her guys have a different story, and ended up reducing from $187 to the $125 service call fee. Really? Clearly from these reviews they are unconcerned with how their customers feel, or their reputation. MANY other roofers in town, don't waste your time with Scudder.
