SCI Roofing knocked on our door, and my wife agreed to a ""free roof inspection."" The salesman proceeded to bend/rip/tear 50+ shingles during their ""inspection"". The salesman, Josh Fisher, then told my wife to file a claim for wind damage. When I came home and she reported this to me, my stomach sank. I take good care of our roof, have repaired it several times, and we did not have any wind damage prior to their ""inspection"". Fortunately, I happened to have a drone picture of our roof taken right before the inspection showing this to be the case.

I called the company and asked to speak with the owner. Instead, the COO, Adam Sharpe, was sent to my home to inspect the roof himself. After his inspection and some excuses, I showed Adam the drone pictures I had of my home prior to their inspection. Adam admitted that ""Josh did some stupid things up there"" and that he would ""see what he could do.""

Adam texted me the next day asking me to reach out to the owner directly, Matt Holmes. After several calls and texts, I finally connected with Matt Holmes. Matt Holmes claimed that ""Adam is not experienced enough to make the decisions he did"" and that ""he absolutely was not going to pay for a new roof."" I told Matt that he could come inspect the damage himself if he felt Adam was mistaken. He agreed, but then started avoiding calls and texts and being non-committal to coming out. Once we connected again on the phone, Matt Holmes told me that ""I was one of those homeowners trying to get a new roof for free"" and accused me of being ""aggressive toward his company, and since he has a worse temper than Adam's, things wouldn't end up the same way as they did when Adam left if I have to come out there."" He then said there was ""nothing he could do for me"" and hoped I would sue him because ""he would get the biggest and best lawyer in town and countersue me and win.""

I then sent my evidence to TrustDale and ran them through the situation. TrustDale said the roofing division of SCI is NOT certified with them, and the TrustDale logos and promises they were making were NOT allowed. TrustDale is evaluating whether SCI can remain a partner at all.

I filed a police report with Roswell, and the information was submitted to the city and building inspector. They will not be able to pull permits in this area any further. The drone pictures and evidence were provided to the insurance commissioner of Georgia, and to my insurance carrier. The insurance adjuster during my inspection for my personal insurance claim said that SCI is already on a blacklist, and cannot do work for their carrier.

If you even think about using SCI, know that they are doing illegal things to homeowner's homes. They are on the blacklist of insurance agencies. If they rip up your shingles, your claim won't be processed on wind, and you'll have to file one for vandalism as well. Also know if you have a problem, this company will put you through the ringer unless you have indisputable evidence to keep them on the hook. Even then, if you get to the owner, he'll accuse you of being combative and threaten to sue you.

There are a lot of small businesses out there trying to make a living and do the right thing. SCI Roofing/Matt Holmes is not one of them. There are plenty of roofers, and you could probably go to the Fulton County jailhouse and find a more trustworthy group of people to deal with.

I called SCI for someone to come out for a quote. I had to book it several weeks out. I texted the rep the day of the appointment to confirm. I was on a call when he supposedly arrived but missed that he tried to get in touch. I called the rep after I was done and apologized. He was frustrated with me and already headed back. He also claimed that he had knocked on the door, and no one came out. This claim was rather odd since we have a Ring doorbell, and no one was outside at that time.

I chose SCI based on Trust Dale's recommendation. I also hoped to receive a comprehensive quote compared to an individual contractor. We cross SCI off the list based on this initial interaction. The rep could've also texted me or tried called a few minutes later instead of giving up. He could've also been a little more patient on the call and confirm that he had the correct address.

The actual team that did the work was efficient and fast. After they left the site was clean! My roof is beautiful and my neighbors wanted to know who did the work.
