Schantz Home Improvement
Company Overview
Since 1946, Schantz Home Improvement has been serving homeowners. Since September 2000, we have proudly catered to the Greater Atlanta region, including Dekalb, Marietta, and nearby areas. Our offerings include replacement roofing, windows and doors, gutters, and siding. We are not accepting repair jobs right now, except for storm damage losses tied to insurance.
The home improvement industry has a reputation that is less than favorable. Poor craftsmanship, unmet promises, and unsatisfactory outcomes are far too frequent. That’s not how we operate.
Since 1946, my family has been part of the building trade, making us third-generation contractors. We ensure the job is done correctly with skilled installers and top-notch materials at a reasonable price. We dislike high-pressure sales tactics. We love to explain how our offerings can improve your life and help you save. This is why we offer a comprehensive bid and give you time to consider your options before making a decision.
Some companies pride themselves on quick sales. If you choose to buy during our first meeting, that’s fantastic! But if you need more time, that’s perfectly fine too.
In fact, a common high-pressure tactic is to lure you in with a low price that doesn’t hold up and omits crucial details. Be cautious of the final invoice! Don’t take chances; choose Schantz.

I had a small leak in my roof and gave Greg and his team a call. They came by the house within 3-4 hours to inspect the situation. He quickly identified the problem as an old nail (when the house was originally constructed) that had popped up. He sealed the hole quickly and I was able to get back to work in no time. I highly recommend Schantz for your roofing need. They are very professional and courteous and very responsive
BTW: His crew replaced my roof 5 years ago....I have been very pleased.
Unless you're willing to immediately drop $7k+ on roofing with subpar products, don't waste your time. The staff were very pushy and were not interested in the requests or needs we had clearly outlined. They repeatedly tried to push financing on us when we didn't want it, just to get us into a $10k job. I looked into the products they use, and I'm in disagreement. They save on materials and pitch an appealing price. Do your research and find a company that works for you. Greg Shantz was very rude.
Jason C.When we needed new windows on our home we called Schantz, while at the time we decided to go with a different company and boy to we regret not using Schantz. When it came time for a new roof we knew exactly who to call. Greg and the team were incredibly quick to respond and give us a quote (both times). The front office staff was incredibly helpful, and informative. The install crew were incredibly professional, fast, and made our roof look amazing. Greg and his entire team did a fantastic job with our home, and I would not hesitate to recommend them to anybody!
I recently used Schantz for a window project and I am very pleased with the finished results. Greg and his staff are professional and knowledgeable. Staff is readily available to discuss any concerns or questions that may arise. Would recommend Schantz. Thanks Greg and Liz!
Not at all impressed. We had a roof leak and called them and left a message. Untimely return of our calls and very rude and uninterested responses. Don't waste your time.
Jenecia H.My roof was in terrible condition and it needed to be replace. Greg was so kind and he explained everything that needed to be done in full detail. He did a detail proposal. When the crew came they were fast and did an excellent job. I would have Schantz do another project in the future. They answered every question I had in details. 5 stars
Do not take a chance. Read through his multi page fine print contract hidden in the proposals.
I recently bought a house and noticed my roof looked a little off. I asked 6 roofing companies to give me estimates on roof repairs and, 'Schantz Home Improvement Company' is the most honest and knowledgeable of the group.
They came out to give me an estimate and after examining the roof, they took the time to explain exactly what was wrong with the roof and supplied several drawings and photos to help me understand how the roof repairs will need to be done.
They expressed that if it was their roof, they wouldn't do anything at this point because the whole roof needs to be replaced within 5 years so I shouldn't waste the money now. WOW, that was the first time someone was so honest and forthcoming. I appreciate honesty and as someone who has bad experience with home repairs I appreciate that. They could have given me an estimate like the other contractors and just taken my money but they didn't and that is why I would highly recommend them!
We hired Schantz to paint the exterior of our house and we are thrilled with the work they did. In addition to painting, the crew did a very thorough job of caulking and repairing anything that needed it prior to starting. They were also very professional and responsive to any needs or questions that arose, and they quickly and adequately addressed every ""punch-list"" type of item that we had after they finished painting. I highly recommend giving Schantz a call if you are in need of this type of work.
Tyler R.Let me preface that before I came into the picture, my mother in law was quite upset at the Schantz company. Apparently she had already left a couple of not so nice messages that the work they had done had made things worse, ie: more leaks in the roof. What I eventually figured out was she had gotten things mixed up with another roofer, who did the original work on the roof. So I come in, and had an independent handyman I trust, go up and walk the roof with me. We figured out all the issues, and I called up Greg Schantz. Not only did he stop by on a Sunday to personally address the issues, he was quite polite, despite the mixup and messages from my mother in law. I personally apologized to him for my mother in law and asked if he'd walk the roof with me. He did, and spotted all the same things the other handyman and I had found, plus other issues we hadn't seen. He agreed to make repairs not only around the small area they had worked on, but also addressed all the minor issues/problems done by the original roofer free of charge. On top of that his crew spotted two areas without supports where the roof had begun to make small divots, which would later cause more leaking. All free of charge and done quickly, and professionally.
So now a couple more months have passed and we're still getting minor leaks in the same area Schantz had worked on. They came back out and completely ripped out all the previous roofers work around the chimney and dug around and found a hole, no one could have found, as it was buried under layers of roofing around the chimney. This they also fixed, with a minor, and completely understandable charge, as it was outside the scope of the original work.
So all in all, great experience, and I had fun just talking with him and assessing the roof.
Edit: Yes this is my mother in law in Atlanta. I noted my profile still says I live in CA.
