I scheduled an estimate appointment about a week in advance. I work nights and accommodated his schedule by arranging to wake up in the middle of my sleep time. Just after I awakened, about an hour prior to the appointment, he called to cancel saying he had work for about a month out. He had asked that before and I was okay with that very fact. Since this wasn't a last second change, if he had called just the day before, I wouldn't have gotten up in the middle of my night...

My wife and I just had San Diego County Roofing finish replacing our shingle roof and we couldn't be happier. The owner Troy is truly great to work with. Him and his crew are very friendly, courteous and professional. Troy, in particular, was really great in communicating with us before and during the job. He was always easily available by email or phone.

Our job had some interesting challenges when it came to roof ventilation because of vaulted ceilings built in the 70s that are no longer up to code. Troy worked with me to figure out a reasonable solution. I have some knowledge of the IRC building code and unlike some other pros he included me in all the discussions and I never felt like I was being talked down to. It felt more like a collaboration in trying to come up with a solution.

The new roof turned out beautifully. It's better ventilated than it ever was before and our non-insulated garage stays cooler during hot summer days. The guys worked crazy fast and cleaned up every day after they were done.

Overall we had a great experience with San Diego County Roofing and I would highly recommend them if you need a new roof over your head.

We have had a couple of roofs repaired/reroofed over the years, but work that San Diego County Roofing was by far the most excellent job performed. Troy is completely professional, tech savvy and has excellent communication skills with the customer. The estimates and prescribed work was described in detail and to a greater level if required.
Materials arrived on time, his roofing team are very good and they left the property spotless. Installing the roof took exactly the amount of time he said it would and we are thrilled with the outcome. We were kept up to date and in the loop of any additional wood replacement outside of the original estimates with photos/text for the work to proceed. Troy was empathetic when sharing the information and provided a number of solutions for each problem throughout the project. Tile roof was replaced with premium grade of roofing materials with a high level of workmanship. This 30 year old tract home roof was upgraded to the most current building codes and roofing techniques (vents, drip/riser flashing, hip/valley dimensions, bonding materials, etc.).
We can easily recommend San Diego County Roofing.

my wife and I used Troy to do the roof inspection on the house we were buying. he was very professional over the phone, went into great detail on what he had found during the inspection, and went out of his way to ensure that I fully understood what it was that he was talking about. he provided a quote that i later found out was less than the roofer the seller had used and got a quote from.

we ended up getting a credit to have anyone we wanted do the work. we of course chose Troy as he was upfront and went out of his way. it took his crew only 2 days to complete the repair when he thought it may take 3. his crew was nice and courteous, the got the job done, did not leave any mess.

we are very very happy with the overall experience we had with Troy and his team. if you are on the fence on who to use, to me this is a no brainer! In a few years I will be giving Troy a call to see about having a new roof put on, Troy runs the kind of business where once you have work done by him spreading the word about them is easy!

OUTSTANDING! I got 4 quotes to replace my roof and they were in the same general ballpark.

What made San Diego County Roofing a true bargain was that Troy Parrot (owner) was the only company to fully comply with the Building Code specs for how many vents should be installed in my roof (see O'Hagin's vents website http://www.ohagin.com/calculator.asp for the calculator). All the other companies were going to install half or fewer the number of vents required by code. I only know about the code because Troy educated me. How many of us home owners would even know there is a code for determining how many vents should be installed on any particular roof (depends on square feet and pitch--see the calculator)? I wonder if the other companies' proposals with insufficient number of vents was so they could come in at a cheaper price compared to a company that roofed to-code? I don't know.

What I do know is that Troy is honest as the day is long, genuinely caring and conscientious. He is also the most hi-tech of the companies I got quotes from. He uses a laptop in his truck to print out a professional quote for you right after inspecting your roof, explaining options (including recommendations when there is no need to replace wood unless you want everything to be like new, even though your existing wood is not rotted. When he told me that once those areas were painted, people wouldn't see the difference, I saved several $ in not replacing those sections of wood. He and his workers are meticulous, thorough and cleaned up their work-site like I've never experienced before.

Plus when Troy came for a final inspection of his crew's work, he found an overlooked item--something I might never have noticed. He apologized, had his crew out the next day and wouldn't allow me to pay before everything was done, re-inspected and met my satisfaction. I am so grateful to Troy and his company and so very glad I chose San Diego County Roofing to do my new roof. Friends have spontaneously admired how good it looks! Troy has made a lifelong customer in me. I guarantee you will be happy if you choose San Diego County Roofing too!

Recently I decided that I would replace my roof and began systematically making appointments to entertain bids. I quit calling for bid requests after I had spoken with 5 five highly rated companies who all set times with me to come out and survey my roof. At the end of the first week only three of the five contacted companies had come out to meet me and one never called to explain why he hadn't shown up.
Of the companies that came out and spent time with me discussing my roofing needs only a very few showed enough professionalism with computer presentations, visual aids, samples, and quality explanations to generate any of my interest. One of these roofers stood out from all the rest. Mr. Troy Parrot, owner of San Diego County Roofing, was one of the two companies who were out to see me within 24 hours. This guy was sincerely friendly and highly likeable, knowledgable, (he'd been a roofer for many years and had worked with an outstanding mentor as well) and spent quite a bit of time on my roof during our first meeting. He was back with an entire detail oriented presentation of what my roof needed using a laptop, visual aids and samples within another 24 hours and even was able to offer me an earlier than expected start date for the work and also a three day finish date as opposed to a five day completion date offered by his competitors. What continually caught my attention was his eye for details and his skill in clearly transferring roofing concepts to a layman. I gave San Diego County Roofing the job on the second visit from Troy simply because in my view he was ready and he had instilled my confidence in him from the get-go. His wasn't the cheapest estimate that I'd got because I aint rich but he was that guy who I knew would deliver. Before the new roofing process started Troy had followed up several times with answers to my questions and had even dropped by with a hydraulic jack to assist me in moving my many too heavy to move pots and planters away from his drop zones which was a huge help. He was significantly aware of weather forecasts for my roofing job which could have been a major stress factor for an average homeowner. We put on a dry roof with no rain during the second half of November. I was impressed. He was on site several times each day insuring proper product delivery and making sure that all of the tear off crew and then his roofers were all on track and on the same page for the success of the entire project and on target for a timely completion. When the new roof was completed within three days Troy made certain that a finisher was sent out to complete the painting of eaves and new vents and recheck the skylight seatings and insure gutter placements. Troy walked me around up there and pointed out the additional fixes and code upgrades that he'd promised. All in all his bid was in the main stream of all the bids I got but the service I got and to have Troy up on my roof was invaluable to me in the end. I am fat and happy with my new roof and will go out of my way to recommend Troy Parrot and San Diego County Roofing to everybody that I can. He made the entire experience seamless and stress free while offerring a premium product to me at a fair price. I am proud to call him a friend. Rb W

Troy and his crew did an excellent job installing plywood sheeting and a protective barrier under our tile roof. This was on a house we had just purchased and were looking to have this work quickly completed in order to move in. Troy and his team were able to start a week earlier than originally planned and completed the job in 3 days! I would highly recommend SDCR!
