Well let me tell you a story about a man named Mark, a roofer with two names - one for Chestatee (Cedar Works) in Dawsonville Ga. and one for the Alpharetta area (Samples Roofing). From start to finish Cedar Works and it owner Mark Samples promises the moon and gives you a great warranty (5 years, I believe).
The process began in October 2018 with an ""inspection"" where I was told the roof was in great shape, of course that was after several visits to the previous homeowner who also had paid him for his ""repairs"". On November 12, this roofer was called back because the rain was pouring into the attic from where it was ""repaired"", as well as several other areas. The text response to this call was ""as soon as this rain clears out I'll have somebody up there to take care of you"".
Calls were made during the next week, after the rain had stopped and finally yet another text on November 20th asking when he was actually going to show up, as the roof had not healed itself and was still leaking. A reply stated that he was on my roof at 8:00 that morning -- I had subcontractors starting work on my home that morning at 7:30 and oddly enough not a single person saw a roofer climbing around!
On December 1st, I once again called as well as texted Cedar Works a/k/a Samples Roofing because of the continued leaks. On December 3rd another text arrived stating that ""a work order with urgency"" was typed up and I would receive a ""call 24 hours in advance before arrival"".
To continue this saga, I received a call this afternoon, January 10, 2019, telling me that on January 14 or 15, 2019, I would get a call and this ""roofer"" would be at my home for the ""urgent care"". OMG - I am so glad this guy did not go to medical school!!!
Now remember, this was the RUSH order for him. I know it's been raining, right? Hmmm, but let's think about this for a minute -- since the initial call I have had a total tear off and replacement.
FOLKS I would suggest if this company comes knocking that you don't let them in if you value in your home (he does not care). Nearly 3 months later is apparently what he concerns a RUSH job for a repair but since then he has had time for 2 inspections right down the street for a real estate agent and their company. You see I had already paid him and so did the previous homeowners - so he got his money.
Kudos to his assistant for reminding me that this has been going on since last year and they had paper work that they were following up on in his basket, otherwise it may have fallen through the cracks on this review.
Steer clear of this company - DO NOT let them attempt to FIX your roof.
Since I have written this review of my experience with this company, I would normally like to offer a solution to the business, but in this case I will offer it to you - the consumer. I used a company out of Grayson, Ga - Total Pro Roofing. From start to finish they were professional. They had a project manager there (Keith Smith); they actually have given free roofs to the troops! They have called since the installation of the new roof and since all of the rains to check on my house. I will post a full review on this company ASAP - they were great!
