I'm an owner-builder with zero roofing experience. Came here to buy roofing materials for rooftop delivery. Every staff person I met was courteous, friendly, helpful, and patient. There was the fellow who directed me where to park in their busy lot. There was Tai in the office who took my order, brought up my address on his computer, and warned that overhead wires might prevent rooftop delivery if the conveyor could not clear the wires. There was Dinah (?) who took my payment after I went to my job site to eyeball the clearances, returned to ask more newbie questions about what clearances the conveyor would need, before taking a leap of faith and placing the order.

I should also mention I wanted next morning delivery, which they were able to fit into their schedule even though I didn't confirm the order until mid afternoon.

Finally, delivery was scheduled between 11am and noon. When I arrived on site shortly after 11am, the conveyor was already in place and the delivery half completed. My installer reported the delivery team maneuvered the conveyor with great skill and precision to barely clear the overhead wires and complete the rooftop delivery.

Thanks to everyone at Sam Jin for making my new roof possible. You are the best!

I run a business. I know how things work. I know they can fax over a credit card authorization. After sending one of my team members to pick up 4 pipe jacks they refused to allow the purhcase. I understand people try to steal often but I sent a corporate credit card with an employee in branded gear and asked them to fax or email us an authorization. They insisted the CARD HOLDER (its a corporation) come to pick it up... WORSE SERVICE FROM A SUPLLY HOUSE. I will never buy from them, even if they were the only carrier of a product.

I completely understand that it was explained to my contractor that roof turbines aren't returnable if opened. I just don't understand the policy. I tried returning even though the box was slightly opened and they declined my return. If you ever want to know why Amazon is beating local companies, it's because of absurd, strict return policies at Sam Jin's General Supply.

I went right in and told Marina what I was doing (backyard shed roof) and more or less what I needed, she showed me my options, I made my choices, and got everything within minutes. It took a small fraction of the time I would have needed at Home Depot, the cost was less, and Marina was knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful.

I was searching all over the deep-east bay for lead sheeting and Sam Jin had exactly what I needed. The process was easy, the staff was friendly, and there was plenty of parking.

If you're a DIYer looking for gutter supplies and actually need help figuring out what to do, then skip Oakland Home Depot and come straight to Sam Jin.

I'm going to echo what a lot of other people have said already, really friendly and helpful staff. They really put the staff at the Oakland Home Depot to shame. Anyway, I don't know much about gutters except for what I've searched online and I'm finally getting to a very long overdo repair job. I kind of had an idea of what I needed, but the staff helped me come up with a plan with the information and picture I had on my phone. I haven't gotten to the repair job yet and obviously it's hard to say if what I bought will get the job done, but even if doesn't, I know that the help I got from the front office is the best I could get apart from actually having a professional come out to my house.

It's probably best to come in when the pros are done and the sales stuff is less busy, so early afternoon, then they'll have time give some helpful advice on your job.

The lady on front desk is really nice and always helping I went there once in a while and she is always with a smile in her face. Store has a variety of roofing supplies and always there to help you to please your needs

This place is awesome! The owners of the business and the staff are awesome as well as knowledgeable people. They carry a variety of high grade roofing supplies and have propane service as well, all very competitively priced. Some times you'll have to wait a few minutes for your supplies (if it's super busy), some times you don't, that's just the nature of it. If you're a DIY type of person, it can be intimidating walking into a supply shop, but I would highly recommend Sam Jin no matter what your experience level is!

For as long as I can remember, my family has been going here for propane. Never had any problems and the staff was diligent and friendly. This is no longer the case.

They changed the layout & now the area to get propane is the same as where everyone loads their bulk supplies. Insanity.

The new people here are incredibly rude and yell (even cuss) at you to get out of the way when there's literally nowhere you can possibly move to because there's a million people waiting to be helped since service is 10x slower.

This business is a lifesaver. They were very helpful and courteous with their customer service and low prices. I needed two Spanish style concrete tiles for my 30 year old house and they took me out back and showed me an assortment of tiles. I found what I needed for only $3.50 a tile. Now I'm ready for the rain.
