If you're a DIYer looking for gutter supplies and actually need help figuring out what to do, then skip Oakland Home Depot and come straight to Sam Jin.

I'm going to echo what a lot of other people have said already, really friendly and helpful staff. They really put the staff at the Oakland Home Depot to shame. Anyway, I don't know much about gutters except for what I've searched online and I'm finally getting to a very long overdo repair job. I kind of had an idea of what I needed, but the staff helped me come up with a plan with the information and picture I had on my phone. I haven't gotten to the repair job yet and obviously it's hard to say if what I bought will get the job done, but even if doesn't, I know that the help I got from the front office is the best I could get apart from actually having a professional come out to my house.

It's probably best to come in when the pros are done and the sales stuff is less busy, so early afternoon, then they'll have time give some helpful advice on your job.

The lady on front desk is really nice and always helping I went there once in a while and she is always with a smile in her face. Store has a variety of roofing supplies and always there to help you to please your needs

This place is awesome! The owners of the business and the staff are awesome as well as knowledgeable people. They carry a variety of high grade roofing supplies and have propane service as well, all very competitively priced. Some times you'll have to wait a few minutes for your supplies (if it's super busy), some times you don't, that's just the nature of it. If you're a DIY type of person, it can be intimidating walking into a supply shop, but I would highly recommend Sam Jin no matter what your experience level is!

For as long as I can remember, my family has been going here for propane. Never had any problems and the staff was diligent and friendly. This is no longer the case.

They changed the layout & now the area to get propane is the same as where everyone loads their bulk supplies. Insanity.

The new people here are incredibly rude and yell (even cuss) at you to get out of the way when there's literally nowhere you can possibly move to because there's a million people waiting to be helped since service is 10x slower.

This business is a lifesaver. They were very helpful and courteous with their customer service and low prices. I needed two Spanish style concrete tiles for my 30 year old house and they took me out back and showed me an assortment of tiles. I found what I needed for only $3.50 a tile. Now I'm ready for the rain.

I am not a professional contractor or roofer but Sam Jin always treats me respectfully and helps me ensure I get what I need. I've been going there off and on for a number of years and they are consistently friendly and always have what I need. They have the best selection of materials in the East Bay, and out do all the big box stores.

this place has the best service i have ever had.... i had a problem on my roof and one of the managers came over to my building in Berkeley and told my son how to fix it..... gave us a few good hints on repair etc and did not want any money for his help..... as to the supply section they are very helpful and courteous...

Had quotes from 2 gutter repair companies for $150 - $200 to repair a downspout and elbow that had rusted out. Went to Sam Jin and found the parts I needed for $22. Could not find the parts at HD or Lowes. The staff was very helpful and showed me how to piece together what I needed to complete the repair myself. Large selection, helpful staff, great service.

Went there this morning to gather some materials to install new gutters above the garage. I had a list, went to Sam Jin and he clarified what I did and didn't need. He and his son gave me the time and help/advice with no attitude. Super nice people. Go on Sunday esp in the morning as there are no contractors.

Sam Jin is a great little warehouse for roofing and gutter supplies in East Oakland. Plenty of supplies in stock, friendly staff, and great customer service. After a room addition project was abandoned my my general contractor(stay tuned for that yelp if I get the time) , I had the unexpected task of finishing the project on my own, including tracking down all the right supplies which weren't carried by the usual suspects at Ace/Lowe's/Home Depot. In particular, I couldn't find these legacy 5"" gutter end caps for the life of me. I called my local roofing supply company (Albany/Richmond area), and even they needed to order them, charge me for shipping, and have me come back a speedy 1-week later to pick them up. Sam Jin had literally BOXES of these things in their warehouse. I was in and out in a matter of minutes with the stuff I needed in hand. One great mountain flattened to a mole hill thanks to Sam Jin.
