Armstrong Roofing (now known as Armstrong Martlaro Roofing, since longtime foreman Russ Martlaro took over the company from previous owner Ernie Armstrong) came through for us with flying colors! This was a complex repair and I interviewed six or seven roofing companies before settling on this one. Some said they couldn't take on a project as labor intensive as this one would be, others said that the best solution would be to cut off all the beautiful and decorative rafter tails that ran the circumference of our Spanish style roof, and replace them with a plain fascia board -- which would have totally ruined the unique and craftsman-like look of the roof. Still others said they would replace the rotten rafter tails but couldn't suggest a way to prevent the same thing from happening again in the near future (and would only guarantee their work for one year). Those that did bid on a repair wanted a ridiculous amount of money for it. We were losing hope until we met Russ and his roofing estimator Ernie, who had all the right answers, and offered up what we thought was a reasonable bid for what they assured us would be a permanent solution to our roofing woes, and entail a solid two weeks of work. Plus, it was clear that Russ and Ernie knew what they were talking about, based on years of problem solving roof issues. They weren't just interested in a quick fix, and they wanted to do everything possible to preserve the original look of the roof. The job began on time and took precisely as long as they said it would. Russ checked in with his crew every day and was always available to answer all our questions in a friendly, forthright and informative manner. We are delighted with the outcome, and thankful that Russ and his crew were able to save our roof, and not only make it look beautiful again, but also ensure it against future dry rot. In addition, Russ was proactive enough to point out some additional areas of the roof requiring repair in order to prevent future water damage, which we gladly green lit. We are so thankful we found Russ and his crew, and highly recommend them to anyone wanting an experienced, honest roofer who is a joy to work with, and a hardworking, dedicated crew that cleans up after itself daily. We couldn't be happier.
