Our roof was leaking badly and it's very important for us to find a roofing company that has strong reputation and customer-friendly. We contacted a few roofing companies, Roofing Doctor was by far the best company because they are knowledgable - they know what's wrong and how to fix it. They also have excellent customer service - they are so busy but yet still managed to keep us posted & finally scheduled a repair date before the heavy rain season started! John, Tony, and their technicians really put our interests first and did everything they could to go above-and-beyond to repair our roof with a very competitive price, to finish everything on-time while taking care of our needs. They are our trusted advisor and we felt so lucky to have them on our side repairing our roof! My experience with John was overall good. At first, my impression was pretty good when he came and gave me an estimate (very reasonable) which included adding overhangs to the side of my roof. We signed an agreement and paid a deposit. On the day scheduled to begin work, John comes with his crew and says that he cannot do the overhang work as it is our contractor's job. We were not happy and considering talking to one of the other roofing contractors that we interviewed. My contractor showed up soon after and talked to him re what was written in our agreement and what we verbally agreed to. He later agreed and his guys followed through. In the end, they re-roofed and added much-needed overhangs, very quickly and efficiently done 4 days total including tearing out the old roofing material and cleaning up. Job was well done overall.

My only concern is that terms need to be specified upfront. Please be clear about what is or is not included. In the end we still paid $500 more than what we agreed to (which was the difference in what we negotiated). It was a small amount relative to the total monetary value but still a reflection of business practices. Make sure everything in writing is mutually agreed upon and that we are all on the same page. Confirm the scope of work before work is to begin so that there is no surprise. And I learned going forward to read even more carefully the scope of work line by line, and confirm each item to be sure before signing.

I am the next door neighbor. Roofing Doctor workers sat on my plants and put cigarettes and butts in my planters. Left food waste and water bottles in my flower planter. Even if they believed this planter of flowers belonged to the owner of the house they were reroofing, this is not appropriate behavior for roofers. Edlee, Palo Alto, CA.

Shoddy work or dishonest practice, I don't know which. When we bought our house last year, they told us the roof needed flashing. We said sure. Then we had leaks and they couldn't figure out where they were coming from but said the roof was fine.

Now our entire office is flooded and it looks like the ceiling is about to collapse. The flashing should have prevented this. Thanks, Roof Doctors!

I had a great experience with John who completed a ""complete tear off"" new roof project a couple weeks ago. I received four roof bids and selected the Roofing Doctor because of availability, cost, and a recommendation from someone else.

John and his team (who has worked with him for a long time) came out and started the work on the agreed upon date and worked tirelessly until the job was done. The finished work is excellent and it's already been tested with the fist storm of the winter.

At times I found communication to be a bit spotty in the early stages, and I would not say that the crew was impeccably clean (although I've never lived through a complete roof replacement before) but the cost and quality of work are the two criteria I care most about.

John runs a quality honest business and I'm thankful to have found him.

A friend just asked me who did my roof so I decided after 2 years this review needs to be done! I spoke with about 5 different companies. John came out and gave me the estimate. It was half the price of the next one. Cheaper is not always better except in this case.

I had to wait to sell my van to have enough money so it was a few months later when they came back. They kept in contact with me throughout this time.

I thought I needed a complete tear out because of the leaks and condition of the existing roof. He said it would be 1500 more but let's wait to see what it looks like first. He could have charged me for that and done the work but he was honest and said it was fine except a few places which he fixed with no additional charge.

Great price and honest. What more could you ask for? They were also nice and cleaned up daily beyond my expectations. So 2 years later, no leaks and it looks great!

Pls. Think twice before you hire this old Korean guy to fix your roof, first of all, he might charge you a bit cheaper from other people, then when you agreed, he will show up early in the morning along with two Mexican guys, he spent 5 mins with them, explain the issues and he is gone till noon time, drop off two to go boxes to feed the poor Mexican guy, he will then come back again to collect the money at five. I paid him 2000 dollars to changed a few pieces of the plywood and few pieces of the roof clay and when he received my check, he asked for a few $20 in cash, I guess he is using that $$ for the workers. When the job was done at 5pm, I was rush to picked up my kid from school therefore I did not inspect his job properly, I found out some missing nails on the clay the next morning, called him, he promised to stop by, I waited three hours he never show up, I called again, he said he only have time on Saturday, will come b4 4pm, guess what?? He never show up either, he also charged me $250 for gutter cleaning, but I don't see him doing it and I don't know how to check his job since is on the roof! The check was cashed, he do not care anymore!!!!! Today it was raining, my gutter never came down any water and the rain was coming down from the side of my roof, my husband called him many times, the 70 years old man did not respond!!!!

Roofing Doctor truly is the doctor for your roofing needs! I own 3 residential properties in the bay area and 1 had major work to be done. Mr. Song arrived promptly and gave me a fair estimate compared to the other 3 I had already received. They did major work working in the hot sun with tar and all that. Long story short, the work turned out great and because they've been around so long they gave me some tips that will help me in the future! Will definitely be calling them if my other properties need any work done.
