This guy is a stand up, honest man. While he could have used what i didnt know against me, he taught me a couple of things about roofing and put me in touch with a specialist who could help.

Not only that, he gave me some great advice for the issues I was seeing as a homeowner. Since we dont have a traditional roof, we couldn't work together unfortunately.

But he is a good, honest, business person.

After heavy winds followed by heavy rains last week, our roof sprung a small leak into our living room. Had a few friends recommend James Robertson. After checking the great yelp reviews I called on Monday (observed Holiday) and left a message. At 5:57 am on Tuesday morning (crazy inappropriate time to call someone) I received a call back with him leaving a message. I returned the call a few hours later. A very confused/ overworked Mr Robertson spoke with me and we agreed he would come by Wednesday to inspect my roof. He asked me to text him my address with my name and reminder of problem. I did immediately. The next day, Wednesday, stayed home all day waiting. By late afternoon I texted again to ask if he was coming, no response. He never showed. Thursday morning I texted and called. No response back. I then called the office number early afternoon and a nice sounding lady took my info and said she would have him call me. Never heard from him. Now it's pouring again. Terrible service.

Update: Jim's been out 3 times since he put on the roof 2+ years ago for very minor leaks; (remember, this is 3500 sq. ft. of FLAT roof). Each time I called, Jim himself came out that very day or the next and had the problem fixed right away. This is excellent customer service! Again, we've been delighted with the way our roof keeps us dry, keeps us cool in the summer, and keeps us toasty in the cold months. Thank you Jim Robertson!

Wonderful experience with James and his company. They were all very professional, prompt and experienced. James was honest and up front with the quote and had a wealth of knowledge in his profession. I will be recommending him to all my friends in the future. Thank you Mr. Robertson!

I hired James B Robertson, Inc. for a residential asphalt shingle roof. Complete tear-off. Their bid was the lowest of several. They arrived timely. They stayed within their bid, and there was no over-sell. Because the existing roof was in such horrible condition, I expected them to have to replace at least a dozen sheets of plywood due to dry rot. To my surprise, only three needed to be replaced, which James was honest about. This guy does everything that is needed, and ONLY what is needed. The end result is beautiful. James called me the next day to see if I was happy, which obviously I was. Highly recommend James B Robertson, Inc.

After gathering up a few quotes from several different companies, I chose to go with this one. The price wasn't the very lowest, but it wasn't the highest either but what I did like was the way James presented himself and his business. It was clear that my needs would be a priority to me so that is why I chose him, and he kept my needs number one throughout the duration of the work. The roof turned out great. I actually went up there and checked it out and everything was even and durable. I would recommend this company.

i recently obtained quotes from 4 different roofers for roof repair, specifically to replace the ridge caps on my house. many roofers declined to do repairs, telling me that they only do whole roof jobs. others quoted me prices much higher than i thought was reasonable. it took a little while for this contractor to return my call, but once he did, he came out, gave me a fair quote, and came out the same week to do the repair on a Saturday. They did a great job and cleaned up for the most part. i'll update the review after my house weathers the upcoming el nino, but thus far i would not hesitate to hire them again for any roofing needs.

My wife and I signed a contract with Jim after hunting around the San Fernando Valley area for roofing bids over a 2 week time period. Jim and his crew were able to start the job within days after doing the bid and signing the contract. As stated in a similar review of Jim's work ethic and quality, I would have to agree 100% that Jim was ""upfront, honest and responsive throughout the whole process"". Our existing roof was a double layer of wood shake/shingle, so the tear off was grueling and very dirty. Jim's crew, Enrique, Armando, & Humberto, were like bulldogs to the old that had to be removed, but were like surgeons when it came to parts of our house that needed careful attention (ie. recessed can ceiling lights, copper pipes in the attic area). I can't express enough how thankful my wife and I are for going with Jim and his crew. No regrets.

This is a four star rating only because I cannot speak to the actual work as I went with another company. James is one of only a handful of roofers I called. All were highly rated, but the herd thinned pretty quick (some gave quotes over the phone without even coming to my house... ), and he was one of the last men standing. Simply decided to go with another contractor due to a personal connection, but felt compelled to share what I experienced with James.

James came over several times, no doubt between other jobs, and diligently examined the roof each visit. He explained the process to me in terms I could understand and laid out several options and prices for each, educating me on products, tax incentives, etc. He left actual samples with me and sent photos of what the finished work would look like when asked. His responses to questions were timely and informative and his price was competitive. He most impressed me when he took a sample of my old roof and showed me what was actually underneath - a gesture that struck me as both candid and honest, and provided some valuable knowledge as I shopped my job around.

I'd gladly recommend James to friends or family and will use him again when shopping jobs in the future.

James Robertson Roofing is awesome. Jim, the owner, was upfront, honest and responsive throughout the whole process. We received quotes from 4 other companies and went with James because his quote was competitive, he was very easy to work with and our neighbor used him several years ago with good results. We are so happy we went with James, his crew was top notch. They were on-time, worked hard and pleasant to deal with. They completed the job on-time and our new roof looks amazing. Finally, they paid special attention to make sure our property was clean and tidy at the end of the day. I would recommend this company to anyone.
